Asura Race Advantage?
OP is a bookah.
Hitboxes are the same for every race.

The Hitboxes are the same, however i feel asuras are easier to get lost in the sea of people or even mobs… i mean its easier to spot a 10 ft char or norn than a 3 ft asura.
added with the cuteness of the asuras…its a win win.

Not what I’m asking, but keep playing!

This is what I’m curious about. I didn’t think much about it before, cause as previously said, hit boxes are the same. But then I saw Osicat running around with is mesmer and saw he was able to LoS behind a rock. It wasn’t a huge one, nor was it tiny, but a Human or Silvari couldn’t hide behind it without their nameplate showing up above it.
So it got me thinking about other ways they could get ‘lost in the sea’ of the zerg(or group or bushes/trees/etc) as you put it
Hitboxes may be the same, but it is much, much harder to target a tiny Asura in a crowd, given the meh targeting system of the game.
For the toast!

Given that hitboxes determine when you lose line of sight and get obstructed, i thought it was what you asked.
Might be that they are marginaly harder to target, but i havenĀ“t noticed much of a difference myself. Might be because i tend to only pay attention to giant glowing red name above the characters.

No. it is not.. Again hitboxes.
Means if you click near a player, no matter height, you will get them targeted..
It is just as easy to click them as others

Yeah, no race has an advantage.

It seems that the moral of this thread is that the facts end where my feelings begin.
Damage hitboxes are the same but targeting/selecting hitboxes are NOT. An Asura can “hide” behind a Char/Norn and reduce the chance being targeted, but a Char/Norn may get targeted even they are behind an Asura. Just go find Asura and Char/Norn in LA to try it out.

very true. my friend was talking about if i rolled a Norn Mesmer he could hide inside the clones on his Asura(n?) thief
small things like this have just made me start thinking about which race i pick since I WvW as much as possible
My warrior is a giant norn, she is meant to get your attention and draw fire and inspire confidence in a charge.
Something my adorable little asura guardian in a polar bear hat fails to do.

I have many characters, ranging from the beefiest tallest Norn, to the tiniest Asura.
In my playing Asura have a definitive advantage based purely on human perception. We persieve bigger things as more dangerous. When I flank with my Norn I immediately cause the zerg to attempt to retarget.
When my Asura necro flanks i’m able to get inside the zerg. Pop my wells and plague form, before enough people start playing attention and just letting their autotarget do the targeting for them.
Does targeting favour one race or the other? Probably not. It plain sucks on every race.
Does human perception favour Asura? yup! And at longer ranges you don’t even get name tags so you can stand behind that tiny rock and scout.
Targeting aside, being smaller and more compact might make it harder for people to read animations in order to counter.

ALL races can do that.. /sigh

This, i dont think this matters much in wvw though.

not for zerging, but if you’re a solo roamer it could be helpful
If anything I feel like I get singled out of a crowd as an asura as an easy target to down which is generally true as I don’t play as a bunker elementalist. I think people generally choose caster classes as Asura which tend to have less hit points and less armor.

But Asuras can use smaller rocks
Nameplates don’t show at the same height either (would look weird so understandable) so Asura’s are able to hide behind smaller objects, definitely.
Having harder to read animations DOES help… can’t tell you number of times my Hammer burst/backbreaker gets dodged on my Norn warrior because of the big “I’m going to stun you” swing, whereas half the asuran animations involve a flip so it’s hard to tell :p

You definitely feel at an advantage playing as an Asura…
As such I have two mesmers, an Asura for WvW and a Sylvari for PvE.
Elementalist is my main, and as an Asura I feel a lot more fluid with my movement and evasion than with my larger characters. I can be a flipping, bouncing ball of mouse like irritance.
Hiding in Norn warriors is definitely amusing.
Asura also have more issues with LoS for their own skills.
When I drink elixir S on my Asura engineer, my movement actually staggers and stutters because of issues with the running path.
I can barely move because the game can’t handle a shrunk asura model running.
Seriously, it’s buggy as hell.
Just one example, there are more.
I see one big advantage for Asura: they are so tiny it’s hard to recognise what they are doing.
And if you click your target, because of the utterly unclever tab targeting system, than of course they are harder to pick than bigger characters.
For all the rest it’s a trade-of: you have issues hitting them, they have the same issues hitting you from so low…

I like turning into a plush griffon, nice disguise and half the size of an asura for traversing the map and indded for a good laugh or even confuse folks that opened a package.
