When are the badge gear prices being brought down. Virtually every other form of exotic gear is far easier to get / farm than badge gear, and the badge gear really isn’t that great.

Prices need to be dropped drastically.

i can just sign this. i got 3 sets of exotic gear befor even getting half of the badges for the WvWvW set.

Working hard? You can get better gear faster. There’s no working for that. And the models suck, so no one is buying it for “prestige”.

I’ve put in well over 400 hours of gameplay into WvW.

I’ve accumulated a grand total of about 2000 badges; not even enough for a full set of ARMOR, let alone the jewelry.

Granted, I generally take part in the more boring tasks ie: scouting, yak assassination (1500 yaks killed!), and supply capping… but it is seriously absolutely ridiculous on the price of that gear that I’ve put in easily over 400 hours and can’t get a full set.

On the other hand, in 5 days of farming at 11 hours per day… I was able to purchase commander title and still have enough gold left over to buy 3 exotic sets. Not to mention the 400k+ karma I got for yet another exotic set.

Exactly. The Karma Prices would need to be about 500k per in order to match the effort involved in getting the badges per piece of wvw gear. Hell even make a set of gear cost karma, the 42k karm afor temple gear could be applied to wvw gear.

badge gear is huuugely over priced, there’s no prestige attached to it either, it simply has useful stats, the jewellery more so.

Never fails, this is always the first reaction whenever someone questions the pricing of something. Not really a matter of wanting things easier, just that getting the same type of item in pve or pvp should be about equal in effort to get. You can get pvp stats on pve items so in most cases people get those instead, hell I farmed karma in pvp and got my set that way instead and still only have about 500 badges. You got 1000 badges, congrats to you, why don’t you want the set? oh maybe because you already got an exotic set from somewhere easier right? Good of you to prove his point.

Agreed, badge gear is severely overpriced compared to the PvE counterparts which have the same stats, just ridiculous

So if you havnt noticed power toughness vitality is the premier stat for wvwvw and dungeons and just so happens to be the hardest to acquire.

YES THIS. Badges are not hard, they are slow. This adds nothing to the game and was pretty much everything they said this game was not going to be “A Grind” “Farming” etc.

Well you made me have a look and for the life of me I can not find any armor with Power/Toughness/Vitality and a free slot other than Invader, the only way to get all three of those stats is to use up that free slot with a rune or other upgrade item or is the server I’m playing using a different set of armor to everyone else.
Yes you can get other armor with 2 of those stats in various combinations but one of the stats will either be, Crit, Precision, Condition Damage, or Healing Power.
Added to that if I’m not mistaken you can not mix PvE armor with that of PvP and as we all know WvWvW only uses PvE armor or there again am I missing something.
This game is unique in that the armor has been based around the differing play styles of players, where one set of armor may suite one player or even several players yet does not suite the playing stance of others.
What it all boils down to is personal choice not only in the armor one might pick but what effort you are willing to put into it to achieve that end.

Not looking hard enough, all the karma pieces with vit/power/toughness are from karma vendors in cursed shore.

A nice change would be if badges would be awarded not just for P/K-ing.

If you play WvW “the correct way”, i.e. escort yaks, guard your fortifications and camps, and run supply you are a great team player and contribute greatly to your server winning, and you will get ZERO badges. Same for playing support classes. If you want badges play AOE glass cannon builds and classes.

if you guys is saying that it’s ugly and you can get same armor with same stats in PvE. then what’s the point? just don’t buy it, simple.

you guys can just ignore it and just leave it for people who want power/toughness/vitality and a skin (even if it’s ugly) that says “OMG!1!! i WvWvW too much!!1!1 lol”

I believe you can get any stat group except for crit damage from karma(You wil need to buy craft gear if you want crit damage on your gear)

it depends actually, for example, if you are using heavy. as far as i know you can’t get power/toughness/vitality in all your armor from temple god karma vendors. no one is selling power/toughness/vitality exotic heavy helm for karma, you can only get it from badges, but i could be wrong.

true but i level my latest toon in wvw, so at 80 i went and got 5 karma items and the wvw helm. spent gold on weapons and i was set.
I would like to see them add a few sets that we could buy with nice skins to make my badges worth something. I buy my siege with coin just in case

I do think there’s something off with the badge price/badge drop versus the karma price/karma gain.

Doubt it would change any time soon though.

I have 495 hours on my warrior (only char). Approximately half of these hours spent in PvE (meaning ,levelling, PvE events, explorations, dragons, dungeons etc) other half in WvWvW.

Now from the PvE part I have a full Knight, Berserker armor set (exotic ofc), full Knight and Berserker jewelry set, a pow/vit/tou set from Orr temple karma vendors and HotW (without the helm), Gift of Knowledge (500 CoE token), 2 CM armor pieces (for the look), HotW Hammer, AC GS and still have unspent dungeon tokens in the bag. Also spent from more than 300k karma on Obsidian Shards and for some charr tier2 cultural weapon (for the looks )

From the WvWvW part I have the Gift of Battle (500 badges) and the pow/vit/tou exotic helmet (~300 badges, I don’t remember the exact price) and 105 spare badges in my bag.

See the difference?

Although the problem is not the armor (its look is not appealing to me), for a full pow/you/vit armor set Orr karma vendors and some dungeons are available and faster to get. My problem is the jewelry! I have not seen pow/vit/tou jewelry set outside the Invader set from badges. To obtain that set seems to be an eternity. Obtaining any other exotic jewelry set is a matter of days with PvE.

They need to be lowered 60% or more.

Stop comparing WvW badge armor to PvE karma armor. WvW isn’t PvE easy as that.

Until PvE sets cannot be used in WvW – a comparison in price is needed even if you dislike it.

No dont lower cost but they should have the option for autoloot in World vs World.

Power/Vitality/Toughness gear can be obtained trivially easy by doing dungeons, there’s multiple of them giving the gear, both the full armor set and the weapons (AC, HotW and at least one more I don’t remember right now). On top of that, you can get all the armor pieces except the helm from Orr karma vendors. Really, that stat combination is just about the easiest to get in the whole game.

The only thing you cannot get elsewhere is the jewelry, however notice that the most expensive one (amulet) does have a crafted equivalent, it’s called the emerald pendant. It’s expensive to get though (sold around the 27 gold mark right now), but farming the gold to buy it is still faster than farming the badges unless you’re an ele on a winning server.

Anyway, right now as far as I know the only things you have to buy with badges are the rings (396 badges each) and accessories (330 badges each) for a total of 1452 badges. Everything else you’re much better off getting via alternatives.

To be honest I like that it’s as hard as it is. Everything else aside legendary weapons are fairly easy to obtain, as nothing’s particularly expensive (excluding full tier 3 cultural armours).

As you can gain other exotics with relative ease, I think it’s nice to have some which are harder to obtain, especially considering they are by no means a necessity,

Do you think getting 100 gold in PvE is a matter of difficulty? Really? Like, farming orichalcum daily is difficult? Farming dragons? Anyone ever lost to any of those three dragons?

The point here is that WvW armor is ugly and costs so much that by the time you get 1 WvW armor, a dedicated PvE farmer can probably get 10 exotic armor.

We could talk about difficulty if we had 10 sets of WvW armor, with 1-3 being “difficult” to get.

What I don’t get is if you find it ugly, what does it even matter to you how expensive it is?

You clearly don’t like it, so why are you so seemingly frustrated at your inability to get it?

Maybe whilst we are playing Tic Tac Toe you can take reading lessons as you seem to brush over most of the points so you can have your little rant. The point is that better gear is easier to obtain, thus the gear is pretty “meh”.

How is 100s of hours little effort for a single piece of gear? maybe you enjoy grinding for weeks upon weeks for a single piece of gear that isn’t as good as the much easier to obtain version elsewhere (karma crafting whatever).

Your logic is flawed as well, here is why.

You seem to be making the distinction that the better something is, the harder you should work for it. Well why is the other gear so much easier to get? and why are you seemingly ok with that? Perhaps its the elitism of saying “I played for 1000s of hours so I can afford this slightly kittenier gear that looks like crap, go me”.

I would invite you to come play tic tac toe with us, but I assume you will be busy spending your life grinding it MMOs, which to be frank is the worst idea gaming ever came up with. Make games like work, because everyone loves a repetitious task with little reward.

You’re right being a strong AoE class means you’re not a team player. Last I checked Necros are a fantastic stall class especially in choke points.

I’m not a huge WvW player, but I’ve racked up 156 kills so far (mostly in pursuit of monthlies), and yet only have about 20 badges. For those of you “farming” badges, what are the most reliable ways, beyond just following zergs around or defending random bases.

It’s been said several times in several places.
Sometimes the best way to get those badges is to get a small group together and kill supply camps. The NPCS there drop them and with your small group, you have a good chance to get one as the bags that do drop will be shared with less people.

Just start your own – say, anyone want to take supply camps, meet me at x waypoint and there are always takers. If instead no one wants to go, just start killing enemy dolyaks, usually someone will show up near you and an informal group will begin, odds are you will head toward a supply camp and try.

Oh sure people will tell you to go into the jumping puzzle – yeah 3 hours in and I only got killed 4 times until they started camping the waterfall, just save your energy and do supply camps IMO. The puzzle is impossible on competitive servers.

Doing the jumping puzzles, there is one on each borderland that are all the same and then a different one for eternal battleground. Each of these can be done once every 24 hours I believe and will give you 5 or 6 tokens. The borderland jumping puzzles are very easy once you have practiced enough.

but you can do the jumping puzzles 1 a day per chara. So if you have 4 alts you can net 100+ badges a day.

That’s pretty much the only reliable way to get badges, jumping puzzles and alts.
So I guess I’ll be making another 3 characters and using them to mule out the jumping puzzles…sigh.

its pretty quick id say it takes way less time than sieging a well defended keep to do all 4 puzzles barring any greifing.

Would be fine if the gear wasn’t so ugly.

But yea, I WvW a lot, and I’m getting close to about 500 badges. In the time it’s taken me to do that I’ve gotten enough karma to buy a full set of exotics twice, and enough dungeon tokens to buy 3 sets of exotics.

In fact, if you did nothing but WvW then you would get the karma for a full set of exotics before you get enough badges for the Invaders chest.

think of it in these terms you need 500 honor badges for a legendary but you need close to 1mil karma. This is how anet sees it not that you can get pve gear faster than pvp welcome to every mmo where all pve gear comes faster.

Cool, I did one of the border puzzles once, but I guess I could get used to doing them more often. I don’t know that I’d want to do one each day each character though, that could get time consuming.

I’m glad everyone finds the WvW sets so ugly, because I quite like it. When I finish getting the medium set, I know I’ll be the only one running around with that skin. Thanks all!

If they fixed loot bags, or even made badges of honour auto looted we’d all have alot more.

There is absolutely no problem with W3 badges assuming you are W3ing a lot and do Jumping puzzles as well.
Managed to gain around 160ish one weekend (2 days).
It helps when you are high dps spec though.

I don’t think it is.
Consider if you’d farmed that karma in Orr. You’d have that gear and some 400-lvl crafting mats.

Consider if you’d farmed that karma in lower zones. You’d just have the karma gear.

Consider if you got all the karma in wvw. You’d have that gear, and badges.

So the badges gear isn’t supposed to be your main source of gear, but rather a supplemental perk, sorta like crafting is for Orr farmers.

It cost 1889 to get all the ARMOR. And the 5 days of 11 hour farming you probably mean you bought gold from a gold selling site.

OT: If it’s easier to get gear elsewhere with the same stats then go and do it. If its easier to farm gold by gathering materials and selling it vice doing event chains then people will gather mats, they aren’t going to complain about how much better they can make money one way and that the devs should change the game to make every aspect of it equal. Pow/Vit/Tough is only good for a few class/specs, chances are if you are competitive you already do other things for your gear. Badges can be used to buy siege instead. The put the gear in there as an option, those are not a one of a kind gear that you NEED to have as many have already said the models for them is god awful ugly so I doubt anyone wants to look good in it.
