Can someone please explain where this expression comes from? The icon(stylized diamond with chevron) looks nothing like a dorito chip(triangle).

It doesn’t look like dorito to me as well since dorito is in triangular shape whereas the commander icon is in diamond shape.

Because players in this game have an unhealthy obsession with doritos…including the well renowned doritos tower in EB Blue side…everyones fAvorite tasty target

Someone obviously was snacking on a bag of cool ranch doritos when the ingenious idea struck him like a karma train.

A light illuminated his figure as a choir of quaggans sang “Hallelujah…coo…” and he said those now immortal words…, “Gais, stack on the dorito!”

The rest is history.

I figure the name likely is partially due to Battlefield 3 (or did it start in BC2?), where spotted enemies have a red triangle over their heads, which is derogatorily referred to as “doritos”.
Not a particularly great leap to name the blue dorito, especially since they serve the same function more or less (mindlessly shoot/follow the dorito)

I think anet is missing out on a fantastic marketing opportunity. Get Doritos to sponsor WvW, mail out 10% off discounts every time your get credit for flipping Doritos tower or killing a commander. Might finally make people stop tunnel-visioning SM
