SFR is a very strong server, more numerous on the whole day, and with some solid guilds like VOTF. The day they will decide to drop you from T1 you will just vanish, I wouldn’t brag too much if I were you.

If you can wipe Deso with ease, why does Viz only ever fight from inside their keeps? or why do they only come out when there is 20-30 players and golums?

One who’s point of view is not that narrow due to one’s responsibilities (like Offsky of Troma) would say that each server has a full scale of WvW skill levels and a lot of teams focusing on different aspects of WvW/PvP. So both quotes above are most probably true, no doubt about it. They just do not reflect the whole picture. My personal experience with VS is more or less summed up by this video:

But that’s just a fraction of what’s going on over a week on all 4 maps.

Good week fights all around, strong Deso come back to T1, VS in 3rd place at the end of the week? Maybe yes, maybe no, I think their day crew needs sort of out things with the night one, because I only VS extremely committed during late night/early morning.

I find it waste of potential that VS run such massive clustered zerg who are only good at trampling singles structures or minor groups (mind you it’s difficult to outzerg your server).

Strength comes in organization and not numbers, but you should be realizing that by how things are turning out for you this week.

Our bus is much smaller than SFR one, so I don’t think we zerg too much.
From the posted video, that wasn’t on the eternal fields, and I only play on eternal battlefields, but I know my server plays on server maps completely differently than on the main one, and yes this week we had a serious problem with side maps, not only about organization but also about the amount of players in WvW. I would say that servers maps are almost another game to me, and we know that the current score is much due to our weakness on frontalian servers.

I read that a lot by VS players and I find that very strange. But on our server you also have a very strong reputation of zerging. Before those zergs would run around and hit everything in its path, now it seems all those players are a bit more reluctant to leave the safety of towers and keeps. When those players do run between their towers and we get into a fight I often get between 50 and 100 kills (playing against vizunah is doing wonders for my Realm Avenger achievement). It seems to me that unless the system Anet is using, is broken (we all know that this is not as unlikely as it should be) that you have zergs of at least 50 players and that would require me tagging them all. The engagements with vizunah that leave me with less than 40+ kills are less common than the ones that leave me with more.

I (a SFR player) think the biggest zerg I’ve ever been in was about 70-80 players but that has only happened once. When I run with more than 40 it is rather exceptional and over 50 probably never happens anymore. I prefer running around with 10-20 but the vizu playstyle makes that very hard.

The vizunians appear to have a very different view on this and I find that interesting. I’m sure certain things may look like for them just like what they tell us they look like. I would not dare calling them liars, I expect the same courtesy from them.

We, on Deso, are outmanned every night without fail and yet you still insist on not fighting in small groups, and why should you.. if it works for you then fine. But don’t say you don’t have a zerg, even a zerg of PUGS/randoms is effective when fighting a much smaller force.

Well you said you mostly play on EB, I try to avoid that place as much as possible so we are not really talking about the same maps.

You also mentioned that it is hard for you to see people due to culling (clipping as you call it) but the same goes for us, that is why I rely on the numbers of how many kills I got from the achievement tab to know how many enemies there were.

I would like to clarify that I in no way mentioned the personal skill of people, because skill is not serverbound in any way. But more about an attitude that seems more prevalent on certain server than on others. The attitude that seems most prevalent on VS does not show off the Vizunah Fighting spirit that is so often posted about. Vizunah has more of a winning spirit. I have to grant it to Vizunah that they are very good at winning the points game, more so than any other server I have seen so far.

You only play eternal and flame here like no tomorrow. This explains a lot of your comments. Maybe you should try borderlands where the organized guilds are.

Referring to EB as the main map is not helping your case. It is commonly known (and with good reason) as the pug map. It requires the least organisation of all the maps so it also tends to be the map where most of the unorganised guilds are. Not all guilds there are unorganised but there are way less of them in the borderlands.

The organization is useless when you are fewer than your enemy, that you suffer a double focus, and that one of them helps the second.

Those are the times that organization matters the most and you are not fewer than us. The alliance or double focus is being blown up to massive proportions. Deso and SFR still go around killing each other.

It just so happens that both Deso and SFR would rather be matched with a third server that plays a different game than Vizu. However focusing only on Vizu would compromise their own game and that would just be counterproductive.

I find it quite funny that you guys from Deso and SFR complain about the zerging strategy VS offers, and that VS players complain about the zerging of the others.

From the words i can read on this thread no one likes it. VS feels forced to Zerg by both servers, and both servers feel forced by VS.

What are we waiting to change this ? We would be so happy to bring back our multi attacks strategies that we tested a long time ago versus AS for example.

The real reason forcing us on VS to zerg is that we do not have any guild (not even one) that can match the numbers of : ZDS, VOTF, IRON and i probably miss more. Not even speaking about offpeak hours.

So we have to find a counter, and then counter the counter, and then… yeah we crash the Desomap because everyone is at the same place/same time.

It makes us as sad as you probably, but the only solution to big guilds when you have none is to bring more players.

If anyone from SF in the guild Za Drots “Za” read this I want to thank your guardian and warrior who I fought for a longer time in many fights outside your spawn and tower in VZ borderlands this afternoon.

Wery impressive, i was the annoying shatter Mesmer that you fought and Im sad that the first fight got interupted by 2 Deso players joined. I would love to fight you again some time and if we ever get the chance im up for a duel or 2 just for the fun of it and you want a rematch, best Guardian I fought in a long time.

Well thing with zerging is: if you run with idk 10-15 man and you wipe every 10-15 man that opposes you, what do you think it happens? Those being wiped bring 20-25 people, if that not enough, they bring even more. When they wipe the 10-15 man consistently those 10-15 bring 10 more…so on and so forth. Bam, you have blobs.
When we were mostly running with 10-15 and we started to be outnumbered all the time from 30, 40, 50 people…what do you think happened? Recruit moar ppl!

Same with sieges…you have boatloads of siege+defenders everywhere…yeh, those small groups are useless (not always, there is always a place for strike forces, ninjas, camp takers and such).

Pretty much every game I played that had WvW also had zergs at one time or another, nuff said. But I find it quite hilarious that guilds with 20-25 ppl on the field are being called zergs.

@Novalight : Yesterday evening i was running with CPC and i believe we were close to 20 thanks to a few adds. We fought versus [BG] from Desolation a few times during our raid, and everytime we found them they were alone and probably 15. It has been really close and yet we won most of the time, but they didn’t call for reinforcements.
I even have some really good videos about it !

Now we also encountered VoTF when we were alone just east of our spawn tower, and we died before we could see one ennemy. Our scout told us where they came from, the video i have shows no mesmer elite nor curtain, and yet we witnessed the numbers after we were eating the floor.

While i agree 25 people isn’t called a huge zerg, i think this kind of clipping happens when you fight at a 40vs40 scale. Or in that case a 60vs20.
I think there are still CPC teeth and bones at this very place

Would be strange for your video to show a mesmer elite or veil if you didnt even see us coming.

I can tell you now we certainly dont run with 60 players, but you dont have to believe me. We upload a ton of videos of WvW very regularly on our youtube channel and you can see for yourself what numbers we run with straight from our footage. Its like earlier in this thread where a deso player said “crazy numbers VoTF at the SM defense” then I uploaded the video in response when we were about 17 players and he was surprised.

Now I am not saying you outnumber us as a guild, you dont. We run with 25-30 players which is more than the 20 you say you had. But we keep our raid together so that we can deal with lots of situations. The bay fight yesterday was one example of this. If you really want super small scale fights, I am more than willing to face any guild in spvp.

So much talk about “zergs are bigger here”, “no, they’re bigger there!”—Let’s face it, we all have them, sometimes one side is bigger than the other, other times it’s the opposite. Sometimes the smaller groups takes out the bigger group, other times the bigger groups steamrolls the smaller group. Oh, did someone say VS have small numbers in EB, or did I read that wrong? (Screenshot is from yesterday, not today.)

My computer is very bad, so I cannot fraps but you can look at some of the videos of my guild, there are a couple fun ones in there where we take on way more than we have and some vids where we run around with small groups.

I never said that the things I read about people not liking your gamestyle all came from here. You can read it in mapchat in the borderlands and pretty much anywhere else.

To Tygra saying that no guild can match our numbers, I must say I disagree. We have fought agains several guilds that at the very least matched numbers in engagements. (MORT and WL for example) Also do not forget that you makes alliances among these small guilds and joining forces between guilds does not appear to be rare on your server (that is actually quite the achievement).

To AEND saying I should blame ANet and not VZ. I do not need to blame anyone. I don’t blame VZ. We are also playing by the rules, we just try to do different things with them. We are trying to maximize the pleasure potential in WvW and we truly believe that that would be much greater with another server instead of Vizunah. Our visions of how to enjoy this game just appear to be too different. Please don’t blame us for that. I know that I’m not speaking for my whole server but it is a general sentiment that I think is widespread amongst the WvW community in SFR (please tell me if I am wrong).

So I think I have now made it abundantly clear that there is no ill will towards your server or your server’s population (not from me personally at least and probably not from a whole lot of people). We just don’t click. This probably requires no more explanations so I’m going to try and refrain from posting about this now. I wish you (both Vizu and Deso) all the best.

@Jackie : Sorry for the late answer, i have to make my point a bit easier to understand.
I think yesterday one of your guys told us you raid with 25 to 35 people and i believe this is very true. However it’s quite often that we see you (or not) with Seafarer’s invaders at the back of your group, making it “more than just VoTF”.

This week was intense….big fights and zergs coming just for us….i am from FG and i must say when a zerg of 40-50 of VS coming for my guild becuz we full focus on Gar in VZ border i feel honored….but when SFR comes with their big group try to flank us too well i am about to cry of joy never had so many lootbags in my life in 10mins ye at the end they wiped us cus it was near VZ spawnspot but still we never give up even when it dont look good, when you see so many red running towards you haha you just take as many as you can get before you die Proud to be a Deso…..as this is a spirit we all share

For VOTF i didnt saw you that much in VZ border….too bad and for the guild LP i like your style, you got some good players ….sad to see when my guild (FG) wiped you…..you came bk with a few other guild trying to wipe us……sry we didnt let that happen hehe.

Truebanana you have lots of posts on these forums about how you hate zergs, so why is it, now that Arb are dropping, you decide to bandwagon jump to SFR, known to be a full server with big numbers?

Yeah you are free to do as you please, but kinda goes against everything you have said. Server hop easy wins are great eh?
