Epic Queue Fix by Arenanet should be applauded
Seeing as a good 40% bought and played this game fow wvw, it is sad to see any mentions are real fixes to the huge glaring issues of free transfers. There was only one small mention of it along the lines of `yep we know there is a problem and someday we might look into it`in the mean time servers are dying and have no community because people go to FoM servers and ruin it.
It`s strange that they can build a great game but will fail just like WH failed nless they fix what everyone is screaming about since BWE
WvW is not intended to be balanced or progressed.
There’s a pvp system if you want progressive.
WvW queues remain bad, but only while the match is competitive. My world pwned the map last week and two weeks before — you could get in anytime you wanted. This week = big queue times.
The big trouble with the queue is they aren’t first-in/first-out. So your waiting time is variable based on random luck. Not cool. And then there’s the crash-on-waypoint and other bugs that’ll drop you right back to having to queue. Frustrating!
same boat for me, after almost 4 years of waiting for this game, Im on the verge of quitting to play planetside after…not even 2 months
Im already running out of excuses to give my guildmates about why Im not logging on for days
the state of WvW depresses me to no end.
I would like to see more skins that can be purchased from medals. I don’t need any other progression. I just like fighting without having to worry about upgrading gear. I would be cool with a title system, however, beyond the commander icon. But if it were up to me the spvp character creation would also apply to wvw with upgrades coming from visual enhancements alone.
I would, however, like to see the Orb/undermanned bonuses removed, swapped, or changed. My server last week fought against a server with the 3 orb bonus for virtually the entire week, and now we have the bonus. Either way it kills the fun to have such a meaningful advantage/disadvantage.
What I would also like to see is every server getting their own special map. It would really distinguish each server then, and make the match-ups more interesting. You would have a home server advantage by being familiar with the terrain, and the placement of the home base etc. Make invading forces have a terrain disadvantage. It wouldn’t even be that hard to do, you could just take the already designed areas in-game and turn them into pvp zones by including keeps, towers, and supply camps.
Just one more thing for the wish list.
It sad because the big guilds that play this game do so for WvW. While they might not hold a candle in terms of overall population, when they leave (they are talking about it, and some alreay have) they will take a large chunk of the population with them because people follow their status. When they move on people will precieve this as the jumping of the shark and begin to mass exit.
Many just want ANEet to please address the issues and talk about the fixes.
WvWvW lack of progression has almost nothing to do with why people are becoming disenchanted with WvW. I’m sure there are a very small group that want it, but I bought this game and am playing this game because there isnt a progression system. Most real pvp players like the even playing fields
Let’s not forget.. Real pvp’ers want sandbox pvp.So let’s not get confused.Archeage is forever off and darkfall UW is a crapshoot of what to expect.. We’ll see november 20th i guess?
sPvP’s ranking and death spam being brought to the WvW side even if options for players to toggle for their client would do wonders for the game. I like everything about the sPvP idea accept the instanced PvP part. Just need that system or something similar mashed with WvW.

This is true but there is no stat tracking or name recognition in WvW either. What “real” PvPer doesn’t want the enemy to know their name? The ones that die a lot and just run in faceless zergs I guess?
Ya they need a system that tracks peoples progress in WvW. Showing names should be an option for sure. Seems like a silly mistake. Also have some sort of guild ranking. Like your guild has held stonemist longer then anyone else so guilds get more competitve.
@Stiv
Very true about name recognition. I would LOVE it if names could be seen, and it would also be nice if gear wasn’t the color of your server. The red name above is all you need to be able to tell it is not a friendly.
Stats don show anything is the point. I don’t need my name in lights so to speak
Here’s a stat for you Bob is on top of the leaderboard with 10000000 kills
Tom is at the bottom of the leaderboard with 22000 kill. Does that name recognition mean anything? Is Bob a better pvper?
What if Bob plays 19 hours a day and Tom plays 1 hr a day
Then you have kills per deaths what if player 1 plays alot more then player 2 and at the same time player 1 is in the top 3 servers so the fields are always packed.
Again another useless stat
Or lets have progression where someone gets a big shiny greatsword for 5000 badges and you know what getting it first means, you played the most
And then take support players who don’t get alot of kills but make people better by playing their character a certain way—ie a water based elementalist in all +heal gear etc who keep alot of people alive longer he will never get recognition
I do not recall any leaderboard type thing that I ever considered it as a feature that enhanced a game

You track every stat possible. With a combo of them you can tell what people do.
“I remain standing” showing Kills/Dealths along with “Solo kills” ones where you do 100% of the damage looked at together would be a good start. Add average kills per WvW hour weekly/monthly/all time and you take care of casuals etc etc.
Zergers would have high K/D but low solo kills. People with high solo kills and high weekly/monthly/yearly K/D are the guys you want to watch out for. Come up with all sorts of stats for 5 man groups and whatnot so everyone has stats to look at.

Well a lot of people do like it. Yhe more options the better. Donèt like names showing…. keep it off. Dont like leaderboards….dont look. I just like options. Give us more of them plz
As stiv said. pVpers love stats.
If you want to PvP play sPvP.
WvW is a fun minigame. Asking for balance and progression for a minigame is rather silly. That would be like asking for Keg Brawl progression.

Not much “mini” about a game that lasts 24/7.
Not much “mini” about a game that lasts 24/7.
Mini in the sense that it’s a fun distraction, also in the sense that it’s ‘PvP lite’ in regards to skill.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s fun as hell. But people take it way too seriously.

W3 is just too casual. It’s like 24/7 football match where people can kick ball into an empty net.

There is nothing ‘lite’ about it. The battles are epic. It does have some flaws but nothing insurmountable and you earn a decent amount of buffs for your server, whether you are winning or in third place.
Skill is in the eye of the beholder. It takes a tremendous amount of skill and organization to be successful on any WvW map. People take is seriously for many, many reasons. It is definitely an opinion such as yours that is in the miniscule minority.
True stat…for every whiny post on the forums there are thousands of people absolutely loving the game as is.
Cheers!
The only stat that matters is how many people are on your map. These other stats are meaningless.
What’s the argument here about?
Spvp is a system where anyone can participate. If you want to be casual and don’t want to spend time gearing up your char, then this is ideal… If you are a bit more serious then what better way to hone your skills and those of your teammates in spvp. You can compete in tournaments and not have to worry about “that one guy” who has way too much time on his/her hands and has way better gear.
WvW is not about balance, Anet already gives everyone the ability to compete by bumping them to 80, but it’s obvious that gear and real levels already plays a huge role in WvW. So please take your arguments of balance out of the WvW discussion.
WvW should have a life of its own. It should have some sort of progression, even if it’s just some sort of reward system like titles. I’m not here to discuss what that system should look like, there are plenty of threads on this subject and I don’t feel like starting another.
Let’s once again look at why WvW can never be balanced and why some type of reward system is justified:
1. Gear and level already plays a huge role in WvW, this is time consuming, dont expect to go to WvW ungeared and not have your kitten handed to you on a silver plater. That being said you can help, you can participate and be effective, just don’t expect too much!
2. Defense and offense in WvW means you have to pay for things. Siege weapons cost money they are not free and those who put them down are doing it for the benefit of not just themselves but of the server.
3. WvW commanders are people that tipicaly have been nominated by their respected guilds. These guilds have pooled their resources to get them the commander icon. These commanders have taken a lot of time to become effective in an enviornment that is not fair or balanced.
Again my point is WvW is not supposed to be a “mini” game lots of people and guilds bought this game for this very mechanic so let’s not minimize it. GW1 is not GW2 and GW2 has implemented WvW, and based on the current machanic Anet understand this is not supposed to be a balanced system.
I’m all for options. Names, Ranks, Ect….. If people don’t like it turn the option off, or simply don’t participate.
If you want a fair and balanced system Spvp is there for you, have fun!!!!!
