Depends really. Personally I would go with thief, but both classes are great and if the two were to fight, the better player would win. Be warned though, thief may get nerfed to the ground.
Klaus: your post doesnt make sense at all, better in what? Surviving, exploration, damage, frustration, death counts:)?
How are we supposed to know what you like to play, what suits you? Just check thief forum, check necro forum, skip QQ posts and problem solved.
Necro: Very good in tower defence or attack. Staff marks are just simply good for this. Quite difficult to kill you and is actually a very solid WvW class for the large scale stuff. Not as strong in small groups however, such as suppy raid parties.
Thief: Very good in small groups. The burst or general annoyance of bunker builds makes them nifty in these situations. Not as strong in sieges, and only good in sieges if specced for power/crit to use cluster bomb. You have some useful stealth stuff for resurrecting in sieges though. And the smoke wall is handy also. Much squishier than necro.
Not really sure what else to say. Aside Thief is probably easier to do jump puzzles with.
Go for a Necro, everyone already knows thieves, I stopped playing my lvl 25 because it just gets old really fast.
Necro stays interesting, because you can respec very easily between offence/defense
Also Solo-ing camp’s/sentries can make things interisting.
BiP+SoS+Epidemic = Condition bomb.
SW+Plague+DS = Distraction / Invulneraility

Necromancers are considerably weaker than anything but ranger, you will be putting more effort in your kills and even when outplaying someone, won’t be able to prevent them from escaping unless you spec for it.
Necro is only great as a support in group combat. Marks and plague make you very valuable in a medium-to-large group.

I think necros can be very strong in small groups. I usually run a power/wells setup and in small groups I can do really well. I can easily solo the Temple of Storms and if I’m careful (need to time things right due to the large number of blinds from the NPC scouts) I can solo supply camps.
you cant really check our thief forums for help in deciding… the entire forum is other class complaining about us. i would say though thief makes a great addition to small roaming groups but as far as seiges and zerg fights i’d go necro
I’ve been a Necromancer since beta and i wouldn’t change my class for anything.. even a clock and dagger initiative Regen Theif. I run full power & critical damage (3.3k attack, 49% crit chance, 158% crit damage) with wells and i find bursting down people really easy to do.
One thing to remember is even going full glass tank, Death Shroud offers a very nice defensive mechanism. Now they’ve fixed Soul Reaping Death Shrouds health pool is equal to your (max health + 20%) + 0-30% of that depending on Soul Reaping points which at base values offers at-least 24k additional health.
I also tend to solo un-upgraded supply camps and sentry points and a Vulnerability Grenade Engineer + Necromancer can sweep camps in seconds and move on.

Really? Ranger is one of the easier classes to play.

But one of the hardest to compete with comparative to other classes, you actually have to think and play with a ranger VS. smashing your face on the keyboard and winning.
I wanna make a new character for WvW. What of these is better? Necro or Thief?
Thief. Glass Cannon thief would be perfect.
I would suggest, spending a couple hours messing around with builds in the mists. You can really get a better idea of what play style you will enjoy. Are you planning on roaming with a small group? By yourself? With a zerg?
I personally play a thief, it fits my play-style perfectly. If you play glass cannon thief though, expect to exploded. Most thieves are actually my easiest targets because I look at them the wrong way and they take 8k damage. Most people who actually know how to play offensive builds and don’t just copy meta, have a balance between damage output and overall scrappiness. I can solo camps easy without using stealth spam. People have finally seemed to be catching on to the idea of balance, but very slowly.
