Don’t get me wrong I relish a good fight, that’s why I loved our stint in T1. I worked my kitten off in WvW those weeks to make this server proud (Especially being a new name coming from Sea of Sorrows).

Fight tooth and nail beside your brothers in arms against strong willed opponents you do nothing but create friendships that last; you garner respect simply due to your determination. Unlike most of BG I tried my best to do everything I could even if it was a small Supply party to get us back into the fight.

It’s good to see people back after falling to T2 but, that isn’t where real strength lies. Real strength is when your opponents give you black eye and you come back swinging harder just to give em what they gave to you. SoR embodies that; hell IoJ despite their deficit are out there pounding the pavement to give us what is due. I respect you guys; hope to see you guys in the coming weeks if we dont go back into T1

About IoJ vs Blackgate “hate”. We still, but rarely, see a person talking smack about Blackgate. We even saw one on Friday before the server reset on these forums talking smack. When it was IoJ vs SBI, both IoJ and BG had hardly anything, but IoJ was camping our spawn, defending SBI’s keep which was originally ours.

We at Blackgate know one to two people don’t determine an entire servers attitude, but taking something big from that server makes that one person feel like the jerk they are.

I will also say that we at Blackgate never double team. In fact, our original idea (before a lot gave up and wanted to go back to T2) was to take out JQ and be fine with 2nd as long as JQ gets out of T1. Hopefully SoS has better luck, because all JQ and SBI did was double team for 3 weeks straight.

We attack and defend what we want ultimately. And as I said, its a bit hard to try to attack both enemies when your population is limited. We were just about even in numbers with SoR, that understandably wanted their stuff back. But we had no intentions of giving it back.

Personally, I’m out there every day I’m on. First thing I do after checking auctions is click WvW and head out to the first BL that’s open…. where I’m running around solo in a sea of towers sporting other people’s colors, outmanned and trying to avoid zergs. Where is everyone?!

Last night in EB was rough but incredibly fun. When I first logged in we had nothing. Our server was working together extremely well and reclaimed our side plus Klovan and Veloka. These fights were incredibly tough but felt rewarding. Blackgate and IoJ are tough opponents that I look forward to fighting some more.

I’ve enjoyed fighting IoJ the last few weeks (as well as SoS and BG).

I’d question not being motivated because the server made it to T1 for a week though. In context that was during the time when Henge, ET and CD were all being dismantled by transfers.

Now that the transfers have settled out, and the matches are more stable, it’s probably a better indicator or who the T1 servers are. Hopefully SoR can sort out our overnights and prove we belong.

Congrats to SoS for holding off SBI and JQ, its not an easy thing to do. SBI is known to come back during the weekdays though.. in one night SBI came back from a 20k point lead when Blackgate was #1. I look forward to fighting SoS when Blackgate makes it to tier 1 again.

I believe it was 2 weeks ago (might have been 3) when SoS did that exact thing to SoR. We had a ~20K lead going into Thursday and lost the match.

It was the Oct 20th matchup in T3

I’d just assume stay in Tier 2 then ever have to play SoS again.

It’s no coincidence that Blacktide (Russia) and Sea of Sorrows (Oceanic) are the #1 servers in each bracket figuring as they have 90% of the players that play in that particular time zone.

wow really? so a server that has 90% coverage for a 1/3 of the time and 10% coverage for 2/3 of the time should be outright winners.

How do you come to these kind of conclusions?

The only reason SoS managed to move up is the influx of NA guilds allowing us cover map 2/3 of the time. We lack numbers during the EU hours but so do most that play on NA servers.

It’s really not that hard to understand, but I suppose I’ll try to explain it to you again.

During NA prime, JQ and SBI have their strongest forces. They are able to hold their own BL as well as fight over EB and your BL. You have a small force during this time albeit strong enough to hold your own BL especially with two servers fighting over the southern section and EB. The end result is you lose a little.

During EU prime, none of the 3 servers have a serious population. The end result is nothing changes.

During Asia prime, you have a large force and JQ/SBI have almost no force. You are able to take the entire map with little to no resistance. The end result is you gain a lot.

This is ultimately the problem with a 3 server system...

If it was 2 servers it would be balanced because you would alternate times of strength. The better server would truly win. But because it’s a 3 server system, JQ and SBI end up fighting each other during times of strength meanwhile your strength goes unopposed.

With the way the rank point system works it will probably take about 2-3 weeks unless JQQ just rolls over and tanks the match for a ridiculous point deficit. Or possibly BG manages to truck roll T2, which I don’t see that happening as SoR and IoJ aren’t interested in just playing dead to have BG move back to T1.

you really think a T1 server only has decent coverage 1/3 of the time. We couldn’t reach T1 without the having good NA guilds.

You keep thinking that having 90% coverage during oceanic timezone wins matches then you will ultimately fail.

After playing on a great T1 server then moving to SoR back when it was a T5 server.

I have to say, SoR has a lot of heart. These guys get out there and fight everyday regardless of the score and regardless of the fact that we lose everything overnight and have to start over from scratch every afternoon.

I have to admit, I am personally impressed, it really is a die hard server. I cannot wait for when we have the coverage for the overnight, it’ll be interesting to see where we end up.

We’re really proud to be here, it has been an honor fighting with everyone on this server. Your stubbornness is contagious.

While I do miss some of you guys from SBI a great deal after fighting side by side since BWE2, I have to admit I love my new home. Going from a T5 to a T2 spot has shown the cahunas Sanctum has, and I have made many a great friend in this journey.

Yes, even my previous enemies from JQ. Tempest Wolves [TW] and [FATE] just to name a few!

Ah yes the drinking game during WvW. Capping a map, escorting a dolyak with 2 golems, and holding a supply camp with 7 ballistas…. All the while hearing my members and SBI allies slur their words, lmao. Out of 70 people, I had to be the only sober one because of Commander. Was fun as hell regardless, I had more than a few good laughs!

Yes sir! I’ve realized that the tag made things so much easier when I got it a while back ago If we match up, we definitely gotta square up! We’ll do a whole gangs of new york style fight of SF vs CDS!! We’ll have to fraps it! I get to be the butcher cause he’s got a cooler name, and you can be DiCaprio..

We are trying to make a difference over here in SPQR. Learning not only from our opponants, but from our realmmates as well. Although I am still in my two week trial enlistment, I can say they do a lot of things I consider right. If you see us on the battlefield, take the time to run with us for a bit.

To IOJ and “beastgate” All I can say is , it’s been fun so far, and we will never make the mistake of underestimating your ability. Anytime our guild rolls up on one of your groups, I know I can just as easily become a bag as loot one.

SoR loves having TW too for sure

Having played in T1 for 3 weeks against same enemies, it has been a refreshing change to be back in T2 again. I know many were waiting for the reset, and IoJ and SoR hasn’t disapointed us, fun and close fights all over the place these last few days.

And I think the end of this week will be fun. We on Blackgate are very strong in weekends when everyone can participate, but Monday – Friday mornings we lack enough eastern players to hold what we have captured in evenings (the coverage, not some double teaming was the reason why we droped out of t1). Scores could come quite close by friday.

Was actually talking about this the other day, from what I have seen thus far they are excel differently. One thing similar is they both can pull really large groups for a lot of hours. Blackgate tends to be really good with siege placement and siege fighting.
SoS is amazing at messing with the culling rending stuff. They seem to have a very good understanding of it and can be brutal on the open field.
SoS felt like it had more coverage, I am on east coast and only time I saw SoS with outmanned buff was in the late late morning to early afternoon. This week is hard to judge due to fractal stuff however I have ran into Blackgate with the outmanned buff a few times, on their BL and in EB during early prime time hours.

Seriously BG players quit it with the 2V1 crying from T1. kitten happens; get over it.

As far as coverage goes, I think SoS had better coverage.

As far as “skill” or “organization”, I’d say for sieging probably BG, for defending SoS. Open field, it’s probably a toss up.

It’s really difficult to assess the strength of your enemy when for a good 6-8 hours of the day, we have no presence and the PPT just gets skewed.

Once we get some more coverage over here on SoR, I think we’ll be able to gauge better. We have a good base of crazy stubborn people who seriously just don’t know the words “I give up”, so it’s a good start.

This server went from #15 to #5 in 1 month, so it’ll take time to build our coverage up.

Ooh you are such a bad boy. For the record RK was there aswel Dont forget to tell that before we took this tower, we took all of your 3 fully upgraded keeps + 2 upgraded towers up north. And yes we took SM aswel.!? I got fraps to back up my side of the storry. What do you have to back up yours?

The past 2 days we have changed map over and over again. As soon as we enter a map the enemy leaves. SoR does seem to have a good NA crew, to bad we dont have that many NA players yet. Was some good fights during the weekend when some of our EU crew stayed up though.

Yeah, our NA crew is solid.

It’s everything else that needs help. But we do the best we can with what we have. The relentlessly positive attitude of the general player base really helps.

Thats not how it works… 90% of players in one coverage period does not equal 90% of players for that server.

NA primetime is probably evenly matched, its oceanic and EU coverage that is the issue. If one server has a majority of the player base in these coverage times they get 1/3 to 2/3 of the day to cap everything unchallenged and build up keeps and towers, giving their NA teams an advantage.

Thank you all for being so nice and kind to me at IoJ BL. I play as Shira Rae, and though I am trained in Battlefield tactics in the real world, I know this is a game. Some things work. Some things don’t work.

I’ve had a blast learning Commander and trying to help out.

Congrats to everyone who helped retain garrison three times in a row. As well as that super beautiful flanked ambush that killed 20+ below the bridge near astral. I saw some spark in everyone today. Win or Lose, keep up the work. Its not the end score that I care about as much as what we do and try at each engagement as a server.

SoR and BG. You definitely aren’t boring!

I like how when you fight, you fight. I haven’t seen any trickery or deception (outside how we all clatter our teeth at the words “mesmer portal!” we all learned to love and hate with a passion) I mean it. We win and lose ground but still are able to earn karma, gold and other drops to take something away from it.

Some servers I’ve seen players who decide to go the ALT + F4 route or a BL where the activity is so great that nothing changes hands in hours! Stagnation kills a game. Makes things boring.
