I’d hate to break such an even matchup. I’m completely fine with skipping T7 and going straight to T6. ;-)

T8 is currently the most unbalanced tier out of all atm. I’m thinking the nice even matchup at T7 will be changing soon. You can’t hold us down!!! LOL

In all seriousness, Kaineng has more active people in WvW now than DR ever did while fighting us. And with bloody near 24/7 Coverage.

Kaineng will rip through the Tiers, and probably send many many people away from WvW forever. Just being here in ET I’ve seen so many brand new players because it’s a very empty server so lots have chosen to join it for their first. Those people are being introduced to WvW with 20v1 numbers. This will seriously just keep pushing people -away- from playing in WvW.

With more xfers coming, we’ll have to wait until our scores balance out, right now kaineng outnumbers both servers. Until then, we’ll see how far we go. Hopefully we can challenge our beloved devonas rest

I started on Kaineng for exactly the reason you present here – pretty empty, no queues, etc. Not sure if you remember a few short weeks ago, we were on the crappy side of the numbers game as well. Don’t sell ET and FC short – they’ve put up some really good fights, and I don’t think either server’s spirit is broken. I spent a good 45 minutes in the Bluevale supply camp last night fighting a bunch of FC guys – had a GREAT time, really good fun.

Kaineng was T8’s doormat for awhile, but if you look at the scoring history, we’ve never just rolled over. ET and FC are showing that same fortitude right now.

You’re right that some folks are going to try out WvW, see the odds, and quit. However, you’re also going to see folks that love that challenge, love taking on Goliath and winning sometimes, and stick it out.

Kaineng is getting some influential guild transfers now, and I’m betting part of that is because, even at rock bottom, we were still chewing on DR’s and FC’s ankles. There’s a big difference between losing and being defeated. One has to do with points, the other has to do with spirit. Points don’t matter.

Here’s to hoping that we continue to see ET and FC scrapping it out like they’ve been doing lately.

There’s wisdom here. For me, though, it’s not about the points, although that’s nice. I had a blast when DR was destroying T8 and Kaineng, as a server, was stomped week in, week out. Yes, DR killed us on a regular basis, but the rare occasions (very rare lol) where a group of us could come together and smoke a bunch of DR folks were priceless. That’s the whole reason I got hooked on WvW in the first place.

There is fun to be had, regardless of what side of the scoreboard you’re on. And isn’t that the whole point of a game, anyway?

Eh, we know this isn’t the case because of Devona’s recent move from T8. They were beating Kain and FC pretty badly, moved to T7, then beat T7 even harder than they did to T8. It’s pretty obvious that Kain would easily beat the T7 servers atm, and probably do well in T6 and them.

Yes, cause our tier loves being out manned 3 – 6 times our number (and many times even more than that) every second on every borderland and eternal. Awesome, lets keep that the same. Especially since Kain just got a couple new big PvP guilds yesterday. Awesome.

Am I the only one who still reads “hue hue” as “hew hew”? I mean “hue” is a property of color, pronounced “hew”. It wasn’t until I had a French Canadian in Teamspeak one day that I finally realized it’s “h-we”, as in “wet” without a T and with a “h” sound at the start. He actually laughed like “hwe hwe hwe”.

I recommend we change the official spelling of goofy non-English laughter to “hwe”.

In the spirit of Christmas we would also accept “ho ho ho”.

As someone who fought against DR for quite awhile, and swapped Servers to hang out on ET, I can say that I actually hugely disagree with this. For week after week we managed to put up an enormous fight against DR, and it was with pitiful numbers. When DR left, apparently -everyone- came out of the woodworks to play WvW, our numbers were growing at an absurd rate. At this point, with the addition of WM, I would honestly say Kaineng has a nearly(if not) 24/7 presence in a -minimum- of 2 BLs. I would also add that I do think Kaineng may well have more people now than DR active in WvW….a number of times there have been 40+ Zergs in 3 BLs at the same time. Now I don’t know exactly how big the T1 Servers are/were, but I KNOW how big DR is/was. I am predicting that with the addition of WM, Kaineng is at -least- a Tier 3 Server now. Possibly more. Based solely on numbers and how I’ve seen DR doing thus far.

T8 and T3 are worlds apart. Kaineng may have outgrown T8 and maybe you guys could beat T7 as well, but as you move up the tiers, the servers you face will be a lot stronger. DR may have won in a blowout while in T7, but that tier is in a weird state due to HoD/ET dropping and sending servers up and down. Things haven’t stabilized there and we don’t know yet which servers will be T7 and which will be T8 when it does. They may have faced two servers weaker than Kaineng and FC. In T6, they are winning comfortably, but not in a blowout and I don’t think they will win in T5. Look at BP’s rise up the tiers. Look at their current match. They are getting badly beaten by the weakest T4 server that dropped to T5 for the week. The server beating BP in turn didn’t stand a chance against the T3 servers.

This notion is certainly motivational. Unfortunately, reality is more of a wet blanket. Even a forgiving estimate of the numbers might project a minimum of 16 weeks for before Kain will have an opportunity to see T3. Unless there is a radical shift in ANet policy, speculating on their new capability (more than one tier removed) is sheer fantasy.

More than likely, the bandwagon momentum will continue to build in Kain countered by the boredom of running weekly 90-100% pie charts. People will get their map completions and Kain will learn new and innovative ways to dominate the JPs (while, if smart, building a HUGE — H.U.G.E.™ — supply of free siege and badges.

Kain’s new challenge is to not get complacent, lazy and bored (read: happy, fat, and stupid). Kain will need to learn how to manage the ticks while allowing the enemy onto the field. Otherwise, there will be no enemy to fight… ever. And Kain will become very squishy — and the awakening that comes with a “slap from yo mamma” can be very demoralizing to peakittening combat troops.

Stay focused. Play the long game.

I’m scared of what we have become. I really miss the days of having outmanned on all the time. I play for the fight and when its hard to find them then I play less in WvW.

I’ll reserve judgement on that one until we face them again. All kidding aside, I’m definitely not looking too far ahead at all. We have a ton of WvW’ers out now that were completely non-existent when we had the tough fights in the past – I can’t believe that our current numbers on the map are ALL transfers. It’s really great to have so many, and I’m hoping they won’t disappear again when we have an opponent that can match our numbers.

As a server, if we’re really looking to move up, we need to start learning tactics, strategy, etc. We have great commanders, but our troops need to know – instinctively – that doing things like running supplies to build siege, killing opponent siege, etc are all way more beneficial than mindlessly autoattacking a tower gate. We have a bunch of folks (myself included) who are still learning how all of this works. Right now, we have large numbers and a bunch of small groups that work well amongst themselves. We haven’t really needed more than that in T8. However, as we move up and face seasoned servers, those T8 habits are going to bite us.

TL;DR – we’ve got some work to do to be competitive at higher levels. We’ve got the heart and drive, we just need the experience.
