Hmm yes

VGC only tracks retail sales. You can tell this by the fact that the GW2 statistics are off by a factor of 2. Moreover, GW2 broke 3 million copies a month or two ago.

These changes sound amazing i do not get what wrong with you ppl. The fact that ppl where crying for a way to show there names in wvw and now they added in a way to show a title in wvw is simply amazing it makes what seem to be uneven fights something that you can see by name. The progression will keep wvw fun and something to work for more then a krama / gold farming spam that most ppl seem to run wvw for 1hr and then quit for the day.
For thoughts who hate this i think if you did not like WvW before this update your not going to like WvW after it. Get over the fact that you dislike it because its not going to changes for you and you alone. There are alot of ppl who love WvW if any thing it becomes the driving forces behind GW2 for a lot of ppl and it WILL keep a lot of ppl playing it for a long time.

I hate playing a game waiting for it to get fun, and been doing this for 3 months.
I can barely stand to log in anymore, but I do and , try to engage in the activities I enjoy.

The problem is that the game provides very little insentive to play, other than the raw activity that you are interested in engagin in. But you cant compete in the the activies you are interested in unless you do a WHOLE LOT of activites your not interested in.

I am interested in WvW pvp,. The Zergs dont bother me all that much, they are an extra challenge. What bothers me is that in order for me to improve my characters combat skills, I MUST engage in activies I dislike in order to get the the items or abilites I need to compete.

The Formula is SIMPLE:
1. Reward people with things they find rewarding, not a bigger supply cpacity. (An appropriate reward for a pvp’r would be an item or abiltiy that gives them an edge when fighting other players and/or collectables that the player finds desirable.)

2. Reward people for engaging in the activites they want to engage in, NOT the activites you think they should engage in. (This is social engineering. I hate it in the real word, and I hate it in an MMO. I have politicians trying to socially engeer my real life, I would like to get away from it in my gaming life.)

3. Dont let your original formula(s) strangle your game. Warhammer did this with their dumb $#^& mirroring balance system, and GW2 is doing it with their absolute refusal to let up on the idea that they are going to minimize the advantages hard core players can gain because they play alot. This is so that people who have real jobs dont have to enter WvW at a diadvantage. Ever hear of diminishing returns? DAOC did a very good job using diminishing returns. I work 10 hours a day and I give you permission to let up on this concept in order to make the game interesting again.

What we have is a game where people have little insentive to play because they max the rewards they are allowed to achieve (engaging in only the activies they want to engage in “i.e. fighting other players”) in a very short period of time. If a player used ONLY the rewards they get for egaging only in PvP or WvW, they would be at a huge disadvantage and look like a bum.

So to compete or look nice you MUST.
1. Pick Flowers
2. Bake Cookies
3. Go PvE zones and engage in PvE or rez NPCs
4. Farm Mobs
5. Farm mobs and events for GOLD because the Auction hall is mostly where you get your best gear.
6. Complete Dungeons (Dungeon crawling is fine for those who like it, but I hate them, and many other PvPrs do to.)
7. Literally JUMP through HOOPS. (Jumping puzzles)
8. Lierally JUMP through HOOOPPPSSSSss. (Seriously?)
9. How much HATE do I have for the activites I MUST engage in to get an epic weapon skin? 10 billion HATE!

What the heck! I feel like Im working on an old style Jedi in Star wars Galaxies, (Its just Piece meal progression instead of all at once. I MUST be a master craftsman in some craft in order to complete this months monthly?) Is there a way you can work it so that I can dance in taverns for Laurels. It worked great for Starwars Galaxies. (Author: Waxes nostalgic for the days his Jedi had to become a master dancer before he could even think of being a Jedi master.)

The good things.
1. I love its graphics.
2. The combat mechanics work for most part. (Though I understad there are bugs that allow theives to to stealth way to long.) (and WHY WHY would someone reverse the stealth Mechanic used in every MMO in the universe so that a rogue can stealth longer IN COMABT than out of combat.)
3. Black lion trading post is Brilliant, an auction hall across ALL serves is great IMO.
4. I love the keeps.
5. I really like the warzones, but the Structured PvP zones need to have variety in the mechanics for winning. (Suggestion: Create 4 unique WvW zones, to make them more interesting. I underastand that this way it always balanced, but its allso generic.

Ideas to improve the game.
1. Introduce Collectables that can be purchased with Currency earned DOING THE ACTIVIES PEOPLE LIKE TO ENAGE IN.
a. Skins. And for the love of all thats good and right, let the folks who earn skins in strucured PvP wear them anywhere. I dont have much in the way of strucured PvP skins muself, but sheeze if they are willing to grind it, let them get the props for having it where ever their chacter might be. That alone would get more folks running sturcured PvP.
b. Mounts. (Seriously what modern MMO doesnt plan on providing collectable mounts.)
c. Pets. (Once agian purchased with a currency earned engaging in the activies you want to engage in.)
d. Housing. How many Collectables can someone create for housing? An awful lot.
f. Having 4 unique zones would make it alot more interesting. For balance rotate servers through the high ground postions in the zones weekly.

Those are my thoughts.

Changes sound ok i guess. Not sure about it being Account bound but i at least see Anet’s reasoning. It will really depend on the specifics of the bonuses you can get from world exp.

To the players complaining about zergfest:
While i understand and agree that this update will probably promote more zerging what is the real problem with zergs? I usually play in a small group and go around capping camps etc etc but really WvWvW is about large scale combat is it not?

As others have stated if you wanted smaller group action you could always spvp?

Lastly (while understanding this will prob derail the thread a bit) what would you do to fix zerging? I hear a lot of players complaining about zerging yet very few actually offer reasonable suggestions.

Truth is there are other humans then your self playing this game and they do not think the same way as you do so there should be other way then what you think. Dealing with camp and defing them are major parts of the WvW games like in real war supplies are very important to hold and take points. If you want to try to fores killing only then play that way you will get points for it but if all you can do is spawn camp your not going to do much for your team nor will you get many points.

By the way the changes look great, and if you leave all the spoiled brats here and go to reddit you will see that alot of players agree. Some people are never going to be happy and i wonder why they keep coming to post in the forums.

Big post often only get fast read sry if i missed it.

Most rewards in GW2 and mainly WvW are the big picture rewards even with the rank up system your fighting for a world not for your self.

The thing is zurgs are not that big in wvw any more due to the orange swords nerf you are not doing it right if you run with 25+ ppl. It can still get things done but its not the best way of running in WvW any more.

If a group of 10 wipe a 30-man zerg, they get no XP because they wiped them 5 minutes earlier.

But if that zerg doubles their numbers everyone in that zerg gets TONNES of XP when they wipe the 10-man group, because they stayed alive for a long time?

This is pathetic.

The first time the 10-man eliminates the 30 man they will get a lot of exp. If the enemy gets more exp for killing the 10-man afterwards then it makes perfect sense. You get more points for killing the group that is troubling your team more in that scenario.

If it works like it should, the extra XP will only be granted on the killing blow. Doing damage to a target grants some XP but not the bonus XP. So there’s no worries, only 10 people on the enemy team would get the extra XP. In retrospect, if the 10 man came back to revenge the 30 man enemy zerg, they would be the ones getting massive XP.

Well…no world bonuses, which i guess isnt a complete loss, unless they add a +%WXP bonus (and they should).

And despite a ‘Truce’, people are going to want to look good on the leaderboards. I wish they would expand on it more on how it works. I never considered the tiers to represent better servers, but just for population. I mean, if they do it that way, the number one server could be a t7 or 8.

Course, thats wishful thinking.

Im also hoping to make the other abilities more relevant, guards are getting buffed.

How deluded are the devs exactly? Do they really think people are going to want to start on the bottom rung all over again for each character, lose all their abilities, title, etc and go through it all again ‘to show their dedication’?

Was pvp rank in gw character based? NO! And for the very obvious reasons that 1. it took a long time to reach the highest ranks and 2. frequently you would be on different characters for whatever reason, they all counted towards your score.

This new system is basically a big finger up towards those who like any variety- taken together with the new ‘improved’ dailies which pigeonhole you into areas you’d rather not waste your leisure time doing or just flat out HATE, lack of ascended gear being available in wvw or tradeable, etc it all looks not worthwhile- and I’m sure quite a few people will reach the same conclusion.

I’m willing to bet that the rewards won’t be balanced either, so it will still be way better to be in a large group than it will be to be taking objectives.

the ‘last hit= best Wexp’ also seems a broken way of measuring things and will be open to all sorts of abuse. I down a player, when someone comes along and instastabs them, do they get the most credit for being able to use a finishing move? How is ‘last hit’ calculated when the aoe is flying? Will be amusing to watch hammer warriors jumping into a pile of downed players to try and get credits and theives using their whirling attack to ensure they tag as many as possible.

As a now ‘casual’ player who likes to log different toons depending on what style I want to play that day (for MY enjoyment, they seem to have forgotten this is why people play games), the new system seems designed to discourage people from playing.

As to ‘more Wexp the longer the player survived’, this also seems a very strange way to measure anything and is open to all sorts of abuse. Let’s see: server A chats to server B, instead of arranging a fight club, they can now arrange a ‘Wexp fight. Server A runs to meets server B at the designated spot, allows server B to slaughter them. Server A now gets a turn, runs to spot, slaughters B who have now been alive a while and hence each team gets a pile of Wexp on the ’survivor’ system.

Or how about- wait until they have just about taken the keep (nevermind all those walls, gates, etc that someone paid for) before you pile in and wipe them, as that means they lived for longer and hence you just clocked up a big collection of Wexp, much better than saving the keep cannons, walls, supplies etc.

I Lol’d at the ‘play one toon and this will encourage people to try diffferent builds’. No, it won’t. People tend to play the build they feel comfortable with or Fotm build. Also GW2 toons are horribly restricted on the amount of skills they have so there isn’t that many vailable wvw builds for each class. People like to be able to progress on their account but be able to use different classes dependent on the situation and which one they feel like playing.

Many will log back in in the next few weeks to give the system a go and then leave again – for me the first big negative is the character bound nature of the titles, that’s almost a killer straight away.

How deluded are the devs exactly? Do they really think people are going to want to start on the bottom rung all over again for each character, lose all their abilities, title, etc and go through it all again ‘to show their dedication’?

Was pvp rank in gw character based? NO! And for the very obvious reasons that 1. it took a long time to reach the highest ranks and 2. frequently you would be on different characters for whatever reason, they all counted towards your score.

This new system is basically a big finger up towards those who like any variety- taken together with the new ‘improved’ dailies which pigeonhole you into areas you’d rather not waste your leisure time doing or just flat out HATE, lack of ascended gear being available in wvw or tradeable, etc it all looks not worthwhile- and I’m sure quite a few people will reach the same conclusion.

I’m willing to bet that the rewards won’t be balanced either, so it will still be way better to be in a large group than it will be to be taking objectives.

the ‘last hit= best Wexp’ also seems a broken way of measuring things and will be open to all sorts of abuse. I down a player, when someone comes along and instastabs them, do they get the most credit for being able to use a finishing move? How is ‘last hit’ calculated when the aoe is flying? Will be amusing to watch hammer warriors jumping into a pile of downed players to try and get credits and theives using their whirling attack to ensure they tag as many as possible.

As a now ‘casual’ player who likes to log different toons depending on what style I want to play that day (for MY enjoyment, they seem to have forgotten this is why people play games), the new system seems designed to discourage people from playing.

As to ‘more Wexp the longer the player survived’, this also seems a very strange way to measure anything and is open to all sorts of abuse. Let’s see: server A chats to server B, instead of arranging a fight club, they can now arrange a ‘Wexp fight. Server A runs to meets server B at the designated spot, allows server B to slaughter them. Server A now gets a turn, runs to spot, slaughters B who have now been alive a while and hence each team gets a pile of Wexp on the ’survivor’ system.

Or how about- wait until they have just about taken the keep (nevermind all those walls, gates, etc that someone paid for) before you pile in and wipe them, as that means they lived for longer and hence you just clocked up a big collection of Wexp, much better than saving the keep cannons, walls, supplies etc.

Not 100% sure but I believe last hit is based on the hit that depletes your HP to 0 and puts you into the downed state.

If they are going to make the progression char based, wxp earned on alts should be doubled/tripled until they reach whatever your max rank is (i.e. your main is a lvl27 scout, hopping on an alt you get boosted exp until that char catches up to 27). I think that would be a fair compromise.

What dont like from this post is:

No it wont, it will mean will stick to one single character in order to level that character first. Starting on a second character means giving yourself a handicap as that character doesnt have the same WvW traits as your main which you have leveled. For small guilds this is a huge barrier if you ask me; large guild will have enough people with the different traits and having several players with those traits, allowing another player to level a new character. But small guilds wont have that luxury and must focus on a single character in order to compete on a level field.

For purchase? Please tell me this wont be with gems and you mean via spending WXP points.

But all in all, I heard this was supposed to be a dedicated WvW patch and all we got were two things. Let’s hope when the update comes the patch notes for the WvW section are a lot meatier.

Macros, you can use them as long as they arent macros.
Remember to buy the officially endorsed GW2 Steel Series Keyboard, it supports macros!
