Please Anet, stop taking away the NPCs in WvW
I agree its a pain to lug around 4 sets of armor because there is no bank

At the start Anet was like easy mode with crafting stations having banks and so on but now if you dedicate your self to wvw you get punished ..160 slot bag not enough sige, 3/4 sets of fears I hope the banks do come back ..

Outfitter? You mean the NPCs selling PVP weapons/armor? If so, did you check just south of the home-point spawn location on Red BL – they were the last time I saw them (this was on Sanctum of Rall’s borderlands a few weeks ago).
I do wish banks were more accessible in WvW, but those are one of the few useful perks from upgrading personnel at a Keep. That said, IIRC, the banks were removed because people were queuing up for WvW just to access their bank, causing longer queue times.

^ This.
It’s a mark of pride in T8 when you can go to the bank and use a way point in a Keep (since that means you did not get capped during a coverage gap)

That’s also what was the impetus for removing the crafting stations. The more time people spend in the maps not playing WvW, the longer the queues are.

I must say, not once since the game has released have I seen anyone stand by the crafting stations in your own borderlands O.o
That said, of course they where pointless. I’d rather see any more guards that pointless NPCs like that. It would be great if even the ambient wildlife was toned down. Like the worms area, so utterly pointless. Replace it with a small cappable military camp or something, make the area part of WvW instead of having worms. There are plenty of areas that could be “militarized” rather than having boring wildlife.

Well, if this is the case, are there any thoughts in the ArenaNet HQ about removing/moving the jumping puzzles that often are the reason map/team chat is filled with “mesmer at the JP?”. The siege is useful but at this point in the game you shouldn’t need to be spending so much time in the JP to be able to afford siege.

No, they won’t be moving or removing it. They’ve instead changed it so that the reward (i.e. chest) is Account Bound on a daily timer. This means that people aren’t going to log-in/out 5 or more times to rush characters in there to get the chest over and over again. Just a quick run of the Jumping Puzzle to get the chest for siege and loot, then back out to the fight.
If there’s a Mesmer that’s willing to sit in the Jumping Puzzle for 30 minutes -porting in several dozen to nearly 100 allies to get siege for the war effort- then best to them as they’re still doing something for WvW (instead of organizing bank space or crafting a new pair of boots).
When I play my thief in WvW those white mobs come in handy, please dont hate on them, I need them to help me sneak up on people.
JP should have been in a “wait room” exactly like Mist are for sPvP. ppl enter in it and do jumping, banking, crafting, check vendors and waitever they wants while waiting in queue. The queue have to get a count “you XXX on YYY ppl” so can easily decide if you do something else or just wait a fex or go afk …
Banks, trading post, armor repair, Mystic Forge, and merchants should all be available at every spawn together. Don’t make people jump maps for something they shouldn’t have to jump maps for.
Alternatively, remove crafting stations from wvw entirely. People can use Lion’s Arch for that and it’s not immediately relevant to wvw. The last thing we want is someone taking hours to grind from 1~80 (or even 1~20) whilst someone else is waiting in a queue to get onto the map to play the game.
Moreover, setting a despawn timer to remove anyone who’s been in spawn (i.e. has the invulnerable buff) for more than 20 (or so) minutes without leaving the safety of spawn to play the game would act as an encouragement to play the game and discourage people from idling on the maps. It’s easy enough for people in guilds who are gathering to move out as a unit to circumvent— simply leave the spawn to remove the buff and return. Of course, I’m not a programer and have no idea how realistic something like that would be to implement.

You do realize there are players just standing afk autocasting heal right?

Sorry, I was half asleep when creating the topic.
What I mean, is the guy that sells salvage kits and stuff. There is none in the spawn point of the blue server of the red BL. However on the green BL there is one again.
I agree that craftin stations arent for WvW. But having a bank is just essential. Its much faster to get to LA via HOTM than WvW anyways. And there you have everything you need. But if you are already in WvW, and spend most of your time in WvW, it’s really annoying to change maps so often just for bank access. And there are also server with queue, who cant just leave a map for the bank.
Why can’t you simply put all the NPCs there when there is no queue and make them disappear the moment there is a queue for the map?
That’s also what was the impetus for removing the crafting stations. The more time people spend in the maps not playing WvW, the longer the queues are.
I take it this means you will be removing Jumping Puzzles from WvW aswell… you know, people jumping around not doing WvW… Just to “earn” badges without actually having to fight or contribute. Taking up slots.
Now that would have a far greater impact of removing deadweigth players from WvW than removing crafting stations, while being a far smaller bother to your actual WvW community.

I’ve seen this one guy standing in the corner of the invulnerable ledge by Lowlands drop-off auto attacking a Firefly. The only way to interrupt that is to kill the firefly he’s on, but then he’d just get on another one shortly after.
Is there any chance it will be possible to remove the crafting stations in WvW? On my server you can almost always find 10+ using them, and it’s taking up spots for WvW that could rly help out on the homeborderland :/

As much as I can understand your reason behind the removal of NPCs, seeing how the jumping puzzles take up WAY more space than the crafting tables, don’t you think the fixing of JPs need to be prioritized? After I read about this change, I facepalmed.
Imagine you need 45+ minutes to get into EB, you start battling for Stonemist and then someone starts asking for mesmers in JP. I don’t usually get angry at games but this makes my blood boil. Not to mention the skill lag is unbearable, but that’s another issue (that needs to be prioritized as well).
Jump puzzles, skritt, centaur and garrison town are all fluff taking up space in the bl’s.
I hope in future maps all of them are replaced with more space for wvw.

Let me see get rid of useful stuff with the excuse to free up queue space, yet leave jump puzzles that serve no purpose except taking up queue space with people that don’t want to help their server win.

How about we remove everything except for the JP. Seeing that the JP is more balanced than the current WvW setup ever will be.

yep , but there are some buffs that give www progress . if those buffs affect the pve server too i am with you to remove the crafting stations and mystic forges and what ever are creating more queues from players that do other activities like crafting or forging in www maps.
also if www progress affect pve server this will give the willingness to pve oriented players to help their server to www battles too !

that’s like, one of the best JPs in the game. i don’t disagree with taking them out of WvW, but surely you guys thought of some other random place to stuff them in? like the ones in the borderlands, they could easily be put into some random shiverpeaks area.
just don’t do away with them for good
EDIT: seems like colin answered my question in another thread. well, that’s a relief.

I agree, the EB jumping puzzle is one of the most fun and challenging ones out there. Is there a way to keep it where it is, and just have the people within the puzzle not counted as part of the map population? If the maps fill up while they are in there then they will have to be added to the queue to re-enter EB. Can it be made it’s own zone?
Yes, Gator, that’s what they’re doing.

What the [blank] is wrong with you guys? This was niche content, sure, but it was something that many enjoyed. It still was PvP content, was fun, challenging, and added a sense of adventure. The JP’s in the Borderlands are so far out of the way that people rarely participate within them, leaving no real PvP usage of them at all.
Jumping Puzzles was your guy’s unique flair to this genre, something that is clearly presented with every holiday event (Mad King’s Clocktower, Winter Wonderland, Super Adventure Box). But now you’re removing one of the most active PvP jumping puzzles because it took a few players away from an otherwise stagnate fight of “cap camp, cap tower, hit door with ram, repeat..”.
Okay, so you’re basically removing more WvW content (by “more”, I mean to reference the missing Orbs), ….
And what do we get as a replacement? Traps? REALLY?! Not even good ones. Ones that remove supply and take away Stealth (of which only two classes have it as far as I recall). Where’s the idea of spike traps to replace the spike traps that are going to get removed from EB JP? How about flame traps to replace the flame traps again from EB JP? Animal spawning traps to make up for the upcoming loss of the EB JP arena room?
This change,….this just makes me lose faith in this game’s uniqueness as it pushes more toward mediocrity. I am saddened by this (and I really don’t care that those self-proclaimed ‘hardcore WvWers’ don’t care about the JP, want it to be removed, and don’t care about those that like it by calling them “carebears”).

You misunderstood. EB JP will get its own map instead of counting into EB. My guess is that they build some flair around it (grubs, worms, maybe a part of the living story or a duengon).
But I created this thread because of a different issue: There is no bank at 6 out of 9 BL spawns. The citadel spawns have the crafting stations, but well…
The blue spawn on the red border doesnt even have a normal merchant with salvage kits and stuff. This is like 4h work for a programmer, but still nobody fixed this issue.
An issue that is imo very important.
Except Anet thinks WvW isnt enough of a gold sink and wants us to buy bank acces thingys from the gem shop.

I did misunderstand and kind of jumped the gun on that rant there, but the wording he put in front wasn’t clarified and basically made it seem like it was being removed completely.
As for what your issue with “banks lacking from WvW”, …..isn’t that the reason for the Bank Upgrade for keeps and garrison? They’re there if your server works to hold the objective, pay for the upgrades, and escort the Yaks towards it. It’s a matter of your server working to get those services earned, not just automatically having them.
The crafting NPC’s should be removed. I say this because right now in the Guild Vendors there’s Guild Crafting Stations available for people to use if they’re deployed. These can be used at keeps and garrisons if people desperately need/want to do something of that nature in WvW and have the will to spend the currency on it. But, if you’re going to be crafting at all for extended periods of time, that’s when you should leave WvW entirely and go craft in one of the 6 BEAUTIFUL CITIES OF TYRIA instead of taking up a WvWvW slot.
don’t care about those that like it by calling them “carebears”).
They arent removing it, they are moving it.
And it has no place in WvW. Far to many PvE players taking up spots just to get Badges without having to fight for it aswell as a shot at a precursor.

Well, that’s why they made the chest Account Bound instead of character bound. That change from this last patch a week ago is what really changed things around and made a difference. Because moving it will still have PvEers and what not going into it to “farm badges” and get a shot at precursors; but having the chest change to account bound makes it unfarmable (it’s a word I made up).
Imho most of those npcs, crafting stations and other convenient stuff should be part of Towers/castles or even camps and either be part of an upgrade or arrive over time.
And should be seen as something “worth” fighting over / investing into.
But eventually every (saying more..) useful npc (even dungeon equip vendors) should be accessible in WvW as part of a reward for holding/upgradeing stuff.
This would enhance incentives to hold/keep objectives longer and/or even upgrade them more often.
