Night capping isn’t an isolated event, it happens in every pairing. I too am a bit agitated that the blog didn’t mention the obvious server mismatches and the lack of an equilibrium mechanic.
The most he really said was “sorry about the queues, transfer if you don’t like it”
So:
1. They haven’t stopped transfers to the high pop servers

Really they just need to get out of this free transfer phase

Nothing to do to make them shorter, there is a cap of playres on each map, there will always be a queue.

Several matches will be like this no matter what they do. Anytime a WvW focused server gets paired with non WvW focused ones it will be complete domination.
Regarding the OP. There is nothing to do about night capping… Hopefully you will end up paired up with other servers that don’t have aussies or a late night crew. Instead of just whining how about you propose a fix you think might work? Cause I got nothing. Reducing points overnight is 100% unfair to people that can only play during those time periods.

Right now the queue system isn’t a true FIFO system, they admit as much in the article and say they will fix it.
It seems they didn’t even mention the current state of WvW except for mentioning points a lot of the players already know about. :/
So many players have mentioned suggestions on what could possibly be done, a lot of players are blaming the orbs, I’d love to know what ANet actually think of the matter.
I think the maps could still support another 20-30 players per side. And I dont say that as a problem solver for Eternal, I say that because I purposely play with friends on whatever server we think we can get the most people on. And I think if they bumped the cap up a tad, it would be more accommodating to guilds who play together.

They’d have to get culling under control first. The maps cannot even support the amount of people they have on them now due to invisible armies clashing both in the open and keep fights. Why even have classes that can stealth when the game itself stealths entire armies with permanent invisibility.
I’d rather have MUCH less siege equipment, less NPCs, less keep guards and less character detail if more people would be loaded so you could make tactical decisions instead of, “Hey look 5 people are guarding a supply camp..wait how did 5 people turn into 35?”

It is ruining the game. For the love of god do anything! Give the dominated servers a gigantic super golem that can march right down to the keep and punch a hole through a wall! They have done something: The matchmaking system. It’ll be a while yet before the unbalanced matches go away, because you have to wait for matches to end.
But the solution to unbalanced matches is there, and is active. It’s just not fast.

It has actually been a bit since I have seen that happen. I really hate to lose a lot of what makes WvW still feel like an open world environment, so that more can fit though. I hear what ur saying though, I 5 boxed for years with all accounts on low settings so that the game performed better. high settings are nice, but its not that big of a deal to me.
I want to find out what they have in store for any wvwvw changes,I mean come on they must know that is currently a lot of issues in the borderlands,transfers,terrain exploits to get past the citadels three main entrances.
I know they have a lot on their plate right now but some real changes are needed in wvwvw.
I just would like to know if they can comment on that they are aware of what is taking place in wvwvw areas.
I know that the game is less then a month old but when is the “big update” going to be to address some really big issues in the pvp areas of the game.
There has to be something that can be done. As it is right now, all of the cool strategic things they designed mean a great deal less than consistently having more people online for a few hours a day than any other team. That beats all tactics, siege equipment, keeps, choke points, the entire design is of less value than what time of day it is. That just feels wrong.
I would also just simply like a reason to show up when the fight is hopeless. There’s nothing I can do right now, the enemy has siege equipment and dozens of people at the spawn points. Even if I could ever catch one of them alone (almost never) they have the orb buffs, and many safe places to run so it’s extremely rare to get a kill.
So basically, when my side has given up, those of us who would actually still like to play are strongly discouraged to do so by the design of it. I’m not willing to pay all my money for repairs or siege just to become a loot pinata for the enemy. I’ll just try again on Friday and hope for the best I guess.
So what makes you think that NA timezone is so superior and deserving it should have the only access to wvwvw and not the rest of the world?
Do you think Oceanic/asian players haven’t been asking for our own dedicated server since pre-release?
Well we have… and we didn’t get it, so basically we HAVE to play on NA servers and we don’t get a choice.
So therefore, NA people need to deal with it as you don’t get a choice either.

The “fix” is already in place, its called a ranking system. Better performing servers move up, poor performing servers move down.
With all due respect to Oceanic-based players, ArenaNet will write you off if they had to to save the playability of WvW.
I hope it doesn’t come to that, but if that is what they need to do to save their customer based in North American and Europe they’ll do it.

You really think that they would write off their asian and oceanic playerbase? Considering that asian and oceanic numbers combined probably equate to nearly just as much as NA considering the high population of gamers in korea, japan, china etc…

Are you just completely failing to understand the point of WvW?
It is a 24/7 Week Long Battle. If your server cannot field players during certain hours, but the opponent can, then they are going to win. Over time, the match making will get everyone matched against servers that have similar hours and similar populations, but that will take time.
Also, complaining about being matched against an Oceanic/Asian server and claiming that they have an unfair advantage is sort of obtuse, because either they have the same problem you do(when they go to sleep the other servers become active) or they are simply playing more/better than you and therefore deserve to be winning.
Also, the fact that player population matters in WvW is not a design flaw. It is the reality of having an entire World playing for a team and playing against other Worlds with their own teams. If a World manages to get more players and better players, they are simply a better world at WvW.

Do you even follow WvW? The blowouts are occurring in all ranking tiers from the best servers to the lowest servers. The matchmaking won’t fix it. With only 24 servers there’s not many options on who to match people with. You may get one good match now and then but you won’t vs those same servers again so now you play in 3 blowout matches after it. It doesn’t matter if you’re on the winning or losing side I don’t find a blowout fun. There is literally no incentive to play for points after the first day other than for the gameplay itself. If all we are doing is playing for the gameplay then why don’t we just delete score and all just play for fun?
I said oceanic should play with Asia because they are in similar time zones. No they don’t have the same problem Oceanics don’t log on to a 100% capped map like NA players do or like Euro players do with NA playing on their servers.
People have always fought 24/7 in a game where you could fight 24/7.
It’s just how it is. If you wish to stop it, you’ll need to remove the 24/7 and then you end up in another mess of problems that some can’t play at all.
If you want to dictate a fights rules, it’s sPvP we’re looking at and they might as well remove WvW and lets see how this game handles itself without.
