I have a real problem with certain Siege Weapons in the game. The following are the Battering Rams, Ballista, and Arrow Cart. In real life, these weapons can be moved and be positioned anywhere on the battlefield that is needed, but in the game, they are not movable. Why? Is it because of balance? I wish someone can explain that. These weapons should be able to move so they can be more effective. I know a few ways to balance this change.
(These are only applied to the Rams, Ballista, and Arrow Carts)

1. If built on top of a wall, they remain stationary. I’m okay with that. If on the ground or in the field, they can be moved by players.
2. If the weapons are being moved, they cannot be used immediately and while being moved.
3. Moving the weapons will be as slow as walking speed.
4. If you find a spot to put the weapon in place, it’ll have a 10-15 second timer to set it up to attack mode.

These changes could add strategy, tactics, and resource management. Making us capable of fighting more efficiently and even effectively eliminate the Zerg tactic that everyone seems to be doing.

One more addition to the game is “Recycling”. Normally when we open the gates of enemy players, we storm in, beat them, and conquer the castle, but we leave a horrible pile of no longer useful Rams in the front gate. What do we do? Apparently nothing according the game’s current state. My idea for the “Recycling” feature is basically allow players to regain at least 1/2, 1/3 or 1/4 of the resources used to make said Siege Weapon if they are no longer needed. This is very good for resource management, and allows us to clean up the mess.

I hope you guys like my ideas. I really hope ArenaNet can consider these too. See you guys on the Eternal Battlegrounds.

Note: Recycling only works for the world that set up the weapons to begin with, not enemy players. Enemy Siege weapons can only be destroyed, not recycled.

Your recycling idea will just make the saboteurs more happy by recycling all your defensive siege, unless it only apply to rams.

Just make siege controllable by anyone. People will start to clean it up when they leave because otherwise the enemy will just use it to get right back in.

I’m surprised that there are friendly players that are considered Saboteurs. Are there friend players that really want to ruin your day in that manner? The idea is only applied to any siege weapon that is on the field and that have no use in that point.

No, enemy players cannot use Siege weapons built by enemy players. That will still remain the same.

There are so many stories about people spinning trebs, AFKing on defensive siege during enemy attacks and people that just throw a lot of useless siege to hit the siege cap that I’m sure you already heard about it…

Actually no. I haven’t seen or heard of stories like those. Obviously the idea works if the team in charge is coordinating everything efficiently. I don’t know how to manage player behavior, I’m just trying to add some features that can be beneficial for the flow of the game and add a little more resource management to the game.

Dark Age of Camelot had moveable siege. It was super slow but it worked for what was needed. Basically small positioning changes. I don’t see why this couldn’t work here.
