WvW is fueled entirely by competition, there is no actual reward for being in tier 1 other than braggin right’s on the forum’s. That being said this WvW does nothing for me. I feel if i put in all this time and work i want something more out of this.

I am forunate to join a great guild that is very organized and drive’s off of competition, but we got member’s that really get just burnt out that work very hard. I really do not see this kinda system having longevity unless thing’s change fast in WvW.

I found myself leveling alt’s cause i got sick of playing my main in WvW. From day one i have been playing this game, I done some spvp and so-called pve in this game. I find myself having the most fun with WvW. I really hope thing’s get more interesting in WvW. Add some kind of reward system or something for the people that are putting the time and hard work. Something tell’s me nothing is goin to happen though.

Honestly, people will stick around purely for the competition; that is the reward for most.
I WvW because I enjoy it – that’s all the reward I need.

I think the best thing for a WvW vet to do when they want a change is to start their own small WvW guild and teach newer players to WvW.

I’ve been lucky in that the last month I have spent 5/7 days each week working away from internet capability. Every time I get back I’m fresh and ready to jump back into WvW. Maybe the answer is just taking a few days off or even a week. Jump back into it after a break and you might renew your initial enjoyment.

Yea WvW was the only reason i was still playing but that is diminishing fast.The culling+Thieves learning to abuse it is sucking the fun out of the game.Getiing killed by invis enemys i cant defend myself against is poor design.Almost 2400+ toughness and i get killed by something i can only hear.

I understand that this game’s focus is on spvp, pve is just pve, and yet the heart of this game is WvW is what i see.

Like superunknown is sayn, there is more bad then good pretty much.

It has been how long now that Anet could fix major WvW issue’s now? I am really getting sick of tab-targeting target’s i can not see at all, that is the biggest problem in WvW handsdown!

They’ve mentioned numerous times they’re working on the culling issue.

The only thing I want out of WvW is balance. Currently it’s unbalanced. Removing orbs was a huge step in the right direction.

You have to manage your enjoyment of the game. Re-traiting, re-rolling……..
One on ones & two on ones are still enjoyable. Massive three way battles in the lord’s room are intense. Scratching out a foothold in a map which has not a supply camp owned by your server is a huge challenge.
Laughing with your Guildies about how ridiculous your toon looks in the level 20 pants suit.
Bored? Your not managing your game experience.

I one thing that seem’s to be important to most people in this game is “look’s” which does not do anything for me. I now am realizing i might be playing the wrong game.

Could be. I’ve been through most of them; WoW, AoC, WAR, Aion, Rift, all the shooters, etc, etc. I like the combat and strategies in GW2 WvW, It’s the best game out there for me currently, however I see your point. I was just trying to express what I still like about the game. It’s definitely not for everyone. No game is I guess.

This is what I’m finding as well. Too much WvW makes me not appreciate GW2…makes me jaded and cynical and wishing WvW was better rather then appreciating what it is.

This game needs player leader boards with different categories, ie most kills, kills/death ratios etc etc, you need to see your oponents name not “insert server name” invader. Most that pvp are satisfied if their accomplishments in game are noted in some way. It doesn’t have to be gear or abilities but something.

I agree with vataaire about player leaderboard’s of some sort. Least that would be something to aim for. Almost every game iv played has inserted it, do to the same problem’s.

@Nost iv played them all to man, and right now this is the best thing out for me to play for what i like in a game. But for the time that this game has been out, and what they need to do, and what people want. Simple thing’s are just not panning out for this game. The clock is ticking and there will be the new next big game sooner than you think. I guess this is what happen’s with pay for game- free to play with no sub they probably cant afford to pay people to fix the long standing issue’s this game has.

There are alot of mechanics that I am sure will be eventually cleaned up like, culling stacking, water, down state, alt-f4ing, class balance etc. They are stretched too thin trying to make 3 games, ie spvp, wvw and pve.

But unless the fun aspect is addressed, none of it matters. Leaderboards would help, and anything to break the pva (player vs anonymous) feel.

WvW is not about loot, zergs or battle objectives, and yes I know new players are 100% focused on this and have not found the next stage. Its about epic battles with your team vs larger numbers and dealing with the unexpected in what is essentially a sandbox.

The more flavor it retains vs nameless faces, and endless transfers, and stale play, the more people stop playing. at this point its hard to get people to play more than once or twice a week.

Stuff to break up the monotony would be great too, so scenarios/warzones would be great change ups, esp during peek zerg time/queues.

But most of all communication is needed. I no longer feel the devs are part of the community like they were pre launch. Thats a shame, I thought arena net was going to be different than bioware/Mythic and the way they handled warhammer & swtor. Groundhog day

This is the 3rd week in the past month that Sanctum of Rall has been paired against Sea of Sorrows. SoS is the unofficial Oceanic server and thus outnumbers us 3-1 or greater during Oceanic prime which happens to be the time frame that I play in being an American that works graveyard.

It’s not so much the being outnumbered that bothers me, it’s that there is no reason to defend. We show up to defend our keeps and towers against their numbers, we lay down siege, we upgrade keeps, we hold for as long as possible. But after 6 hours, they’ve taken the entire map and with it have gained 20k+ karma, 30 badges, 4-5 skill points, 1gp and have enjoyed themselves. We, on the other hand, have gained little to no karma, badges or skill points, have spent 5gp, and have had no fun at all being repeatedly overrun in every tower defense.

Right now the game is tilted so strongly towards the offensive side that to defend is actually detrimental to your side. You’re better off abandoning your defense and attempting a base trade than to stay and defend.

That issue alone ruins the entire mental aspect of Wv3 in this game.

REALLY AGREE, with this. Feel’s like they made the money they could, now let’s move on. That’s what i get out of it. Hate to say this so early, but it seem’s like we are getting no love from the dev’s. Anet wake up please and do something!

If they reward Tier1 Bracket all will join them.

They need to fix the PvD (Player versus Doors) problem the most Matchup get won by PvD.

Kill / Death Ratio in WvW ist not good it only forces more people to zerg around and run away cause the dont want to have a bad K/D ratio.

WvW has issues.
But kitten if they haven’t been getting the basics right.
You guys know that in WvW you can run millions of different builds and play styles right?
You don’t HAVE to be forced into something like wow…having to have 1 specific weapon , 1 specific group of abilities, with 1 spec with 1 combination of stats.
GW offers customization and individuality.
WvW offers roles without the use of Tank/Dps/heals.
You can be a defender, a dolyak runner, a siege guy, an attacker.
Don’t stop there, your character can be glass cannon, tanky, high on crit or high on condition, they can have power and health, have lots of CC or support, any combination of: weapons, utilities, talents and stats.
If you have full exotics your on a sort of level playing field that they can balance.
The game has a skill based combat system that isn’t about stats, its about your class and how you play it.

From there you do realise they can add content, add new pve areas and dungeons, balance wvw, fix problems.

It isn’t a fail right out the gate like Warhammer or Star Wars or the many other mmos
and I’m sure you’ve gotten your $60 worth? How many toons have you levelled, how many dungeons? How many sPVP tourneys? How much WvW , how many jumping puzzles or map completions.

ALL WITHOUT A FEE!

i am still enjoying the wvw, and am shocked at how great it is at launch.. yes theres issues and i can they will be changed or fixed at some point, but i am excited as to see what wvwvw will be like in next few years!

I ain’t bored yet. I find it fun to apply and adapt strategies with my server, in order to catch the opposing server(s) off guard. Unless your server is forever holding 90+% of the maps, there should be ways for you to get into the tactical part of WvW. Setting up skirmish teams, scouts, guards, zergs and so on forth. Attack with a large force up front, keep them busy, while a small group breaks in from a different location. It’s those things that makes the WvW part of the game satisfying to me; Outsmarting the opponents as a server working together. Or just having a laugh as some guilds decide to pump out Siege Golems galore and attack a fortification.

Still, I wouldn’t mind a few more maps to add to the variation of the 3 completely identical Borderlands. There’s in many ways just 2 maps, and that’s it. A few more rewards to buy for badges wouldn’t hurt either. Lv.80 Exotics perhaps?

@Vukovic you really think i would post my concern’s for WvW if i have not done all that interest’s me? Everything you mentioned i have done i refuse to pve in this game bottomline! If i want to pve i would play WoW, Rift, or etc.

In WvW there is only a couple ways to run a build in WvW that is valable for that weapon of choice. NOT million’s for each profession like you claim. Please tell me something i do not know.

I do not think you read this whole thread i only play this game to WvW. I have tried everything else and it does nothing for me and what i like to do. I got alt’s i am workn on my 4th 80. I did get my $60 worth.

I feel you got lost in your own words with the JP, dungeon, map completion’s. You lost me there and when you called me kitten!

The differences are subtle in builds, the way you build your gear stats are subtle.
Your traits can be different and your weapon sets can be different and your utilities can be different.
Are you saying you can only be viable with 1 set of stats, utilities & traits for each weapon set? Viable for what? 1v1 every class? 1v1 certain classes? synergizing with a team?

You seem to have given up on theorycrafting…

If you’re playing this game day in and day out with no breaks in between, of course you’re going to get burnt out on the issues. You’re facing the same issues every day for 3 weeks straight (or more, if you were here from the beginning) so of course it’s going to be like glaring sunlight in your eyes. Play another game for a week or so and come back. Thats the magic of no sub fees.

No life-ing any game will cause burn out, and WvW encourages a good bit of it. You can’t expect to stay interested in one section of a large game forever. If you start to get bored, coming to the forums isn’t going to accomplish anything. Keep a GW2 News Feed close by and move on to another game. When something interesting happens, come back.

I’ve played more than 700hrs and still going strong. The majority of that has been PvE. I"m just getting heavily into WvW, which will keep me going for many months more. I haven’t touched sPvP yet, and PvP is my bread and butter.

I like WvW. It’s fun when everyone in the guild is on and we are bashing heads against enemy groups of similiar or larger sizes.

We change where we play on a somewhat weekly basis, EB or a BL. I wish the 3 BL’s were different maps though, 4 unique maps > 2 unique maps.

I also wish there were some massive destructive force your server could release onto the other servers. IE final upgrade of a keep or garrison summons a dragon? Maybe a SM final upgrade? Make it something awesome, so that when the server is almost finishing it, its an all out fight to stop them/complete it.

I’ve grown tired of seeing IoJ and SoR though. I feel like they are my roommates’ friends who come over and eat all my food and drink my beer without offering any compensation.
