So Friday on 5/12 came and went and
Well im sure gem sales are up to buy said carts :P
Considering they’re making rather nuanced changed (less damage to siege only) alongside working on some more significant changes (rating system), I’d at least consider it poor form to complain before the well-advertised next patch, which is all of tomorrow and even then wouldn’t be surprised if you didn’t see any changes ’til the end of the month or so.
Well advertised where?
Oh, just on the game client as you log in, on the forum and maybe even on the releases page:
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/may-14-2013/
Arrowcarts are fine. It’s the people that haven’t adapted yet that are the problem.
I heard traps aren’t included in this patch? or was it the last patch? o.o
I see no information about Arrowcarts only traps?
Introducing Traps in World vs. World
Traps are fiendish items that can be purchased from the new Traps and Tricks Outfitters on each WvW map. We’re starting with anti-stealth fields and traps that remove supply from enemy players, but in the months ahead we’ll introduce even more ways to spread mayhem in the Mists!

I would like to know where you’re getting your info.

ACs are balanced? Thats a pretty hilarious statement. It’s also pretty funny that they only want to change the damage ACs are doing on siege weapons. Since you don’t have to stand beside the ram to operate it right? There is just no way to heal the operator with the massive damage that is comming in from normally 3-4 carts.
If/when arrow carts get changed, they won’t be on the preview for that – it’s classed as a fairly minor change in terms of its scope, so unless it’s announced on the forum, there’ll be no notice before it happening.
I don’t see the big deal, tbh.
Don’t stand in red circles?
[sYn] Borlis Pass
With a hammer warrior I can pretty much ignore AC unless there are more than 3 hitting me at once. If I am manning a ram and have a team dropping healing fields I can ignore them unless there are 5 or more hitting me at once. I know some classes you have to avoid them, but depending on your build alot of class builds can completely ignore AC. If anything, Id expect another buff along with the damage nerf from AC to other siege types (which they have already said they will be doing). In the end what I think Anet is aiming for is for roles to be filled.
Well im sure gem sales are up to buy said carts :P
Even better, didn’t you saw the announcement of the new gem-shop item: arrow protection umbrella?
PS: Kidding, I am totally aware that ANet does a good job putting no pay to win items into the gem-shop,

I hope you didn’t go overboard. Reality is showing the meta adjusting quite well to the changes. Tactics are adapting, people are taking time to do one of two things:
1. Clear the siege before you knock on the door -or-
2. Come to the forums and complain.
Towers are still flipping, keeps are still flipping. It’s not nearly as problematic as those who would refuse to adapt are going on about.

It’s really good to see that someone from Anet is responding to the issues brought up by the players.
As for AC patch, do you think that the pendulum will swing back to coverage wars or will it still be on the side of siege wars?
imo, siege wars is boring. However, having been on both sides of coverage wars nobody enjoys being outmanned and knowing you can’t do anything to slow the push back to your own spawn.

Adapting to a boredom inducing meta is not something many people wish to do, if you want to sit around and build siege all day but some of us would rather play the character we have made in order to kill others not man arrow-carts to do it – what change does it make to you if AC’s see a damage reduction? You can still build siege! but the point is those of us who want to fight others in an actual battle can’t get to do this at the moment either because people run to sit on siege or peeling a keep off a zerg has now become ridiculous ending up in Treb v Treb v Treb v Treb – fun, right?

The AC change also introduce a Zerg+AC vs Zerg+AC tactic. It became a war of who can build the most ACs quicker rather than actually depending on group make-up and player positioning. This has started to plague T8 NA, pure player vs player open field combat is almost extinct.
Given it before and I’ll give it again, major props to VoTF for being the face of these needed changes. We loved working with you guys before and hopefully we’ll get the chance to again, if not in GW2 but the next game and the one after that.
My fun laughs at your server pride.
I just wish Anet was a bit more open with what they were bringing out, the next patch is tomorrow and as usual we have very little idea of what is actually going to be in that patch.
I just hope its not all gimmicks to be honest…

The fact remains that siege is now defending a keep and not players! Previously it took co-ordinated defenders who knew what to do in order for a keep to not flip, it required both siege and players to fight off the attackers, now I could quite easily stick a dribbling idiot on an Arrowcart and it can turn most forces away and if one isnt enough I can build 12 on a single gate due to the increase in range also increasing the amount of AC’s that can hit a single gate! To anyone with a modicum of balance and sense this is obviously not following what the original concept of WvW was meant to be and it isnt one I or many others wish to be part of – Let us actually fight each other rather than blueball all the time.

Yes, siege attacks a keep, siege defends a keep. You’re supposed to have the advantage as a defender. You’re also supposed to be smart enough to realize that you need to take out the enemy siege before you go and smear your lip gloss on the gate. One flash built treb with an accurate gunner can completely violate those 12 ACs of which you speak and they can do very little about it. Adapt your tactics a little.
Now, let’s address if this is in line with the concept of WvW as presented to us…
“Players can band together to lay siege to castles, raid enemy supply caravans, clash with other players in truly massive battles, wreak havoc behind enemy lines, or build mighty weapons of war like trebuchets and siege golems.”
Lay siege, check. Raid caravans, check. Massive battles, oh yeah. Mighty weapons of war… still there. Please, don’t go trying to assert that what you want WvW to be is what WvW was intended to be or what everyone else wants it to be. It doesn’t matter who you are, you’re not that good. (That applies to everyone, not only you. Myself included.)
You don’t like it. I do. This weekend BG was holding Hills with walls and gates down, SoR in from the south, JQ in from the north, and they held out for hours on end because they were able to mount some crazy kitten defense. Many of us on TS in JQ admittedly were having a blast even though we were getting repulsed far too often. Of course, we had less than kind words for SoR who would take down the siege we built to take down the siege BG built, but that’s another story.

If you do this, you should refund players points spent in the AC mastery ability line. Countless people only got them because of the current state of ACs and their importance to strategic playing.
I think somewhere in https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/wuvwuv/Arrowcarts-merged Devon said, they like the new damage of ACs on human, but they do not like that ACs are used to destroy siege.
So I expect the AC of the next build to do (nearly) same damage to humans, but much less (none) to other siege.
And the next build will come tomorrow, if I understood the May 14 on

I agree that defenders need an advantage. They already had though. Defending was a lot easier than attacking every was. So what was the point of this AC buff?
Make bigger zergs? Great success
Give defenders an even bigger advantage than they already had? Great success
Have 40 people stand next to 5 others who shoot trebs and arrowcarts? Great success
Have some great guilds leave this game? Great success
Push the outmanned server down even further? Great success

well, looking at the pattern of Anet making things easier for the minority of part-time weekend people. AC’s will go down in damage, uplevels will be able to live on rams, trebs will only do 5k damage to fortified walls, catapults will throw marshmellow boulders.
nah just kidding, but can you see what could happen? Siege is Siege! it is supposed to kick your Backside and make you go OUCH! come on people.

Unfortunately every type of PvP in GW2 seems to be oriented towards sitting in a circle.

Also didn’t they make real time strategy games for people who wanted that kinda stuff? I mean I started this game under the premise that Id be playing a Necromancer not spending a majority of my time either on a siege weapon or waiting on a siege weapon to do all the work. Also saying go to spvp is worthless, its a completely different type of pvp, in this case a much smaller scale. Prob the only thing guild wars 2 did right, was large scale battles, to which siege becoming overpowered takes away from.
So I expect the AC of the next build to do (nearly) same damage to humans, but much less (none) to other siege.
I sincerely hope they won’t remove the ability to damage siege from ACs, because they are the only really reliable way for defenders to do hit siege/golems. When there’s a zerg out there, anything close the edge will get obliterated, and they can generally place their siege where counter cats/trebs can’t hit.
Also, the ACs are an important tool the attackers can use to take out defending ACs (and to assassinate trebs).
If they just lower the siege damage to ~half, that should be still be plenty for these purposes however.
Arrowcarts are fine. It’s the people that haven’t adapted yet that are the problem.
I agree. ANet, please patch people!!!1!

The WvW I’m playing post AC buff means that Golems, Rams, Catas AND even Ballistas don’t get built, unless you’re doing PvD. To take a keep you need to first run through the AC storm and take out the mortars, then build twice as many trebs as the keep because you have to take out the keep’s trebs before you can start to hit the walls. If you happen to knock down the wall, you’ll need to try to take out the AC that are still in range of the trebs. Then you can move to the outer wall and build more AC to take out some of the defending siege on the inner wall so you can build more trebs to try to open a hole in the inner gate/wall. Once that is done the trebs try to take out all the AC inside the inner walls. Finally you concentrate all siege fire in the LR to try to knock out the last line of AC before you push in to take the keep.
Sounds fun for 6 hours of play, where you get 0 WxP.

Its going to be a great way to stop all supplies to a keep or tower and “starve” them out. Its been a bit too easy to flash build during an attk even if the keep or tower was out of supplies you would just have ppl come in from other maps they have with 10+ supplies to save the day. Also must we add Something Wars 2 every time we find that its being used? Should just call it dodges wars 2 becuse every one dodges and can!

That’s a little presumptuous, no? We have no idea the strength of traps, the cost of traps (you buy at a vendor, remember?), the diameter of area covered, how long they last, nothing at all. They could affect a single target for all we know and be costly enough to not be worth is excepting unique circumstances. Data before panic please.
By the way, did any players actually buy that weird little guild flag sticking out of your rear they advertised last patch? Haven’t seen a single person rocking those.
