I saw the Supply Camp contested, so I went there .. Guild Claimer dead in the middle of square .. all NPCs up .. the camp was lvl 4 upgraded .. we were holding it for 5 hours without losing it. Right when I entered it, the camp got “claimed” by the Dzagonur server. With a player from the guild “Wir gegen Euch” around.

Any explanation to it? And if you ask about a screenshoot about it – thing again beforehead. -.-

Thief in berserker gear soloed the supervisor, is the most likely explanation.

The supervisors are pretty weak and they don’t benefit from any upgrades. It only takes 30-60 seconds or so for even a typical 5-man group to take the whole camp legitimately so if the camp isn’t watched 24/7, you’re going to lose it faster than you can respond. The control circle flips really fast even if only 1 person is in it (in fact, I don’t think the speed of the flip varies by the number of people).

The only “unusual” thing here is that someone soloed the supervisor without engaging the other guards but I have a feeling that it’s really not that unusual, and is something a skilled thief could do on a regular basis.

Personally, I think it’s a problem (that camps, even fully upgraded, can be so easily flipped) but I’m not sure Arenanet agrees (or knows, or cares). I’m a power/vitality/toughness engineer and I’m pretty sure I could duo an entire unupgraded camp, guards and all. The only reason I can’t solo it is because of the blinds from the scouts. Guards in this game are pushovers and supervisors are only dangerous when they have the invulnerability buff.

I´m an ENG & PTV gear as well – on margo .. problem thou is. The Claiming shouldn´t happen when the NPCs are in .. cos from my experience so far, even if solo, or in group .. we always have to clear out the entire area of the circle, before the bar would progress at all. Not only the “guild claiming” NPC.

OFFTOPIC: ( .. as a detail. If you have PTV gear, divintiy runes, PPT accessories & traits that gives T% to power & V% to condition dmg, you can pretty much solo lvl 2 supply camp, with both dolyaks & theyr guards in it. )

At Launch- level 82 meant something; but as there are not only lots more at 80- folks are getting fully geared and more legendary weapons are appearing.

Basically- 82 guards are only slightly challenging and the regular ones are push overs.

Wouldn’t hurt at all to tweak the upgrades to the point even a super geared peep could not take a camp alone and/or increase Camp NPC aggro range… so it doesn’t matter how far apart they are… they all converge on the attacker.

Love to see anyone solo all 5 at once (at 82).

I’m a condition thief with evasion build. I solo fully upgraded camps all day long, killing every single NPC. Even when the Dolyak spawns with the 2 Vet guards escorting it on top of the upgraded Camp guards, I can still take it.

The ONLY time a camp is a challenge for me, is when the nearby NPCs are sitting in the camp as well defending it. (Hyleks/Dredge/Ogres/Quagans). The only reason those make it challenging, is the sheer number of NPCs to kill in order to clear out the capture circle. Some usually start respawning before I can get the last killed, or some players show up.

However a non-upgraded camp, I can kill off in about 30 seconds.

Ehm .. by all due respect .. it all depends on the point of view .. I was able to defend a lvl 4 supply camp against a 5man squad – all lvl 80 ( not raised lowbies ) .. solo.

Anyhow. The original problem was .. that a player killed only ONE NPC .. “guild claiming” .. and without clearing out the area – specificaly “the claiming circle” .. he was able to take the camp.

Stick a shortbow on, use cluster bomb and tag the hylek/dredge/ogre/quaggans first You can draw them from outside the range where the other NPC’s trigger aggro.

As for the topic, camps are a tad easy to take, and not remotely rewarding to defend. Quite sad really.

Your capabilites in the Art of War are impressive indeed. But by all due respect, don´t change the subject.

MAIN POINT: All NPCs UP/Alive .. only one DEAD – Guild Claiming .. and the Camp turns sides .. as far, as I know – that´s impossible!

Found out about the bug/exploit .. it appears, that it follows, like this .. agroo/pull “Guild Claiming NPC” out of the camp .. kill it. Capture circle appears .. the only mobs that will stop it, are the Quartermasters .. so after killing them as well, a rogue, or anyone can stand at the far edge of the circle & claim without engaging the rest of NPCs .. voila – lvl4 upgraded camp – useless.
( I watched Vabbi Invaders in UW borderlands )

.. ohh .. and the “fired up buff” of the “Guild Claiming”NPC, that appears for 5min, right after a supply camp is taken over can be rendered a joke, if you have a 3man party of Condition based players – it´ll fall withing a matter of 30-45sec .. it appears, that condition based dmg is the only way how to “rush” retake the supply camps.

As an Elementalist, I can abuse the rendering mechanic on mist form and can get the supervisor to fight me 1v1 outside of the camp.

Once the supervisor is dead, I can kill all the guards/scouts at once using a lesser earth to tank, 2 hounds to dps, and dagger/dagger AoE.

Start to finish it takes me about 3 minutes to take a fully upgraded undefended camp.

Everyone has his/hers tactics to take down an lvl4 supply camp solo. It´s not impossible .. nor hard. The matter at hand here thou is, that ppl do NOT go the “usual” way .. but use exploits & are able to “rush” it in matter of seconds.

i think you guys are missing the point.

to make progress on teh capture bar, there can not be any hostile players or mobs inside the capture zone.

as the OP pointed out, the capture zone was filled with mobs.

it’s not a matter of being able to solo camps or defending camps solo.

if there is even one npc/mob in side the cap point, wether a scout or a dolyak, even if the supervisor is dead, the capture bar does not progress even if you have a hundred players in there.

who doesn’t love wow clones?
