What is Anet thinking? Why not mark all of these kitten items NOT USABLE in WvW. Every week, there is a new item ppl are abusing in WvW and it takes Anet weeks to flag them as PvE only.

Why is Spikeroot Fruit allowed in WvW? An enemy thief and me got into a 1 vs 1 fight in the eternal battleground jumping puzzle. The problem is once he hit me with Spikeroot fruit I was chain knocked down (stunned) till I died.

Spikeroot Fruits are found growing on short trees in the Caledon Forest. They have an extremely hard outer shell, making it usable as ad hoc weapons when the need arises.

Dieing is part of PvP. I get it, but being chain stunned? How is that acceptable? I have a limited supply of stun-breakers on long cooldowns. There is no way to compete against this.
That actually sounds really funny, but yes, items from pve being used in wvw is unacceptable in any form, anet needs to just go ahead and make all items from pve unusable instead of waiting for every item from pve being used.

So, you’ve used your 3 stun breakers up, 2 dodges, and 10 sec stability, and the guy still has a stack of spikefruit left kiting you at range. Now what?

I killed him in between clicking another one from his inventory and doing the slow kitten throw animation.
Alternate answer: I pulled a cog out of my inventory and chain stunned him back.

IMO, it brings out creativity in people which is neat..
In war.. if you run outta bullets be innovative and start using stones or something..
Maybe Anet could just put cooldowns on PvE items instead of removing them all together.. ?

They removed golem in a box because it was completely ridiculous, these other things need to go too.
Let’s also talk about throwing cogs. 2 seconds AoE stun, almost no cooldown. I’d be ok with items like this in WvW if they couldn’t be popped every second forever. They seriously need to a cooldown on consumable item use while in combat. That means they can keep them for variety’s sake with not making them be completely ridiculous.

You applaud them until it happens to you. Unless you enjoy losing control of your character and watching as an item clearly not intended for pvp is used to kill you while you have no ability to fight back.

You’re throwing a tantrum about some items bringing imbalance to the game but you are okay with WvW being gear dependent…? I forgot how players geared in full exotic armor don’t have a distinct advantage over players geared in masterwork.

Its very different, gear diffuseness is only a means of over all power skill plays a major factor but when you can chain stun with only one person that becomes comply different. Its like taking an predator missile to a fist fight.

First I used decoy to break stun, followed up with torch 4 to stealth and get close range. Pop torch 4, sword 3 and 2 + mirror images mind wrack shatter. Dead thief, no problem.

Out of pure curiosity, what if you were against a bunker rather than a thief?
Not trying to argue one way or the other, just looking to figure out if that solution (or one similar to it) is one you’d tag under, “know what you’re doing, this guy clearly doesn’t.”

It’s actually not different in the slightest. You say skill takes precedence over gear but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a player in masterwork gear, however skilled they may be, take down an even slightly intelligent player in full exotic gear unless he is a glass cannon. The player in exotics can do more damage, can take more damage, has more health, and can out heal his opponent in masterwork gear.
Also if you’re getting destroyed by the spike fruit you are likely running a full glass cannon build and have absolutely no condition removal or stun breakers. While I don’t use this item myself, it is completely legal but also absurdly easy to deal with as long as you don’t run a faceroll damage build.

Gear in a game like this is only part of what you play with skills that you use is a major part more so then the gear and the ability to roll with well timing is the other major part.
The problem with this item is that ppl spam it they do not use it once or even time it to stop other ability its back to back stun with no true way to block all of it. At best there is stibily that only last for a few sec but after that they can lock you up to the point of being able to kill you at any time they want.
This is WAY beyond a small thing this is out right game braking.

1) Spam gears back at them. I have more stunbreakers and probably am better at dodging
2) Dump 12 stacks of confusion on them and make them do something to mitigate it or keep losing 4k hp each time they throw a gear.

Not really. Either turns into one person having an unintended advantage or turns into inventory wars. Neither sound appealing.
Can we go back to fighting each other with just the skills we’re given and not scavenger hunt for the flavour of the week consumable?
