Well perhaps “winner moves up/loser moves down” is the only solution to this “problem”. At least there is no reason for servers to be afraid of getting stuck in tier 1 with Vizunah that way. It will balance out the tiers rapidly and people will be able to enjoy WvW again. It would only need to be in place untill there is another way to sort out the rating problems. Anything would be better than the way it is currently.

I personally have nothing against fighting Vizunah. However as it stands now we will need some time to get back to the level we were. A level where we can put up a good fight in terms of winning a tier 1 matchup again. There is no reason whatsoever for us to be staying in tier 1 as it is today.

To be honest with you PvDoor isnt the problem. We from Desolation dont play for points unlike NA servers. We play for fights! Unfortunately we dont get good fights anymore. When a Viz blob of 60+ comes across a group of 20 Desolations they run inside their towers/keeps and they have like million siege inside no joke. And when they get more reinforcement of 40+ more Viz zerg they decide to come out of their tower (now 100+ Viz Gigantic Blob) against 20 desolations and they eventually wipe us with the help of skill lag. like that wasn’t enough they then jump on our bodies like they achieved something great even though we were badly outnumbered 5:1.

We dont want to be in this tier anymore, you can ask any person from desolation. they will agree with me more or less.

I agree that it is not a big problem, however I (and I’m sure that a lot of other people) don’t play altogether due to that fact, there’s no point in playing if my efforts can be countered easily by a few ppl that fight doors.

Now that they are for sure no longer 2nd and 3rd best EU-server (I guess they are around 10-15), they should go the way to their place.

That sounds like a good idea but thats a hot ’ temporary’ fix. We need something more permanent. But i can take that solution anyday now.

He doesn’t want the game to stop outside of prime time. He wants servers to earn less points when they significantly out number their opponents. If you play during off peak time you still get to play the game but you just earn less points if you roll over another server with 4 times their numbers. You would earn normal amount of points if you had similar numbers regardless of the time.

Well, if you would read posts and not only write some, you would have read that I DID NOT proposed to stop WvW at night, but I proposed two variations of:

Give WvW as many score-points as there are players fighting for it.

And not as it is now: always the same number of objectives, independently of how many players are fighting for it. 10 people doing PvD currently do twice as many score as 600 people fighting hard for every point in prime-time. And this is a mess.

20 people over a whole server play at night. Yeah, they’re prepare bashing cause they have no life etc. But eh, i’ve been one of these. A few guildies still are (i’m not playing too much wvw atm cause it’s boring), and there’s a really nice mood in the night, everyone just take their time and enjoy when they have fights. Of these people, i’ve never had to deal with canadian (not saying there aren’t any, but i’m not seeing any), the northestern i’ve seen are belgium, talk about a 12h offtime.

Honestly, i still don’t understand how big WvW guilds from Eu servers manage not to get people playing off the prime time. VS is one country, on deso/sfr you got from GB to Russia, that’s basically a 01h timespan (GMT+0 / GMT+10).
We’re not talking about a gazillion people playing at night, just a couple students/jobless/retired/working nightshift people.
That’s the real threat to you ? Come on, be serious for once.
The only strenght of VS is it’s identity. PUG’s really belong there. The age of pugs in TS is huge, it must be around 90+, and except of a couple of guild raids at prime, when they manage to get in, all guilds are in the same TS (cf the screen provided in the official T1 thread).

Honestly I feel no pity with Deso or SFR at all, you know what you were about to face when you entered T1. I still remember when ER was kinda stuck in T1 and when we were finally about to drop to T2, SFR purposely stopped fighting and lost, so that they had better preconditions for the WvW reset, which didn’t take place as we all know. Fortunately Jade is pushing this week, thus making us lose some more points. Actually I quite like the situation at the moment. T1 is stuck, but so is T2 and thats a good thing, because this way we have nice fights with Kodash and we’ll never have to face Vizunah again. I’d love Jade to move up a tier, but I guess that won’t happen. Maybe Piken will take their place once holidays are over…

Most selfish post ever. This post alone proofs Anet has to do something about it. Desolation, SFR, Elona, Kodash, Jade see in my opinion are ‘equally’ strong server at the moment and good opponents. What gives elona more the right to have ‘good fights’ then Deso or SFR? Instead of bashing us, that it’s our own fault, you should congratulate us for trying. Many weaks desolation, managed to get incredible close to vizunah (that alone is a massive achievement). Without us, your T2 would never have been that fun. And now that guild drama’s come (they would have happened to elona too, if you remained 2 months against vizunah square, so what gives you the right to bash us, when it’s just a matter of luck who is in t1 and who’s not?), we all deserve a drop.

Well in a nut-shell Anet opened free transfers to the then number one server sfr. It got flooded with new people, queues got dreadful and the server collapsed.

The problem is nobody in tier 2 wants to move up, so they lose points so we can’t go down. Next week we will be 50 points ahead 4th place, it’s gonna break our server down completely if we keep doing this.

If I am not mistaken in the middle of week 14 Vizunah had some sort of call to arms where their numbers spiked at night and they started dominating. This happened at the same time as SFR were struggling with their new players. After that Desolation and SFR has lost a ton of guilds and now we can’t compete at all, but we are still stuck in a tier where we don’t belong.

And I totally agree with that, I was just reacting to Chiolas’ post. He is trying to say that night capping is an “injustice” which is wrong, it is quite the opposite in the idea. An injustice is when someone goes to jail for a crime he didn’t commit.

The rating difference between last position of T1 and first position of T2 is getting wider, wider and even more wider every passing week because servers in T2 are fighting ‘not’ to go up to T1. Look at the rating difference between Vizunah and Deso/SFR its more than 250 points and compared that to NA T1.

Self Reminder – If you lose, blame one of the following :

- Server/Skill Lag
- 24/7 prime time, canadian migration lmao
- Group flee (also called picking fights wisely)
- Zombie Apocalypse
- Unemployment really?

A major part of your server mindlessly QQs instead of swallowing your pride and ask for guilds to gather and come back. They also blatantly say that they try to go DOWN a tier, which I understand because there’s no reward being t1 atm, and getting repeatedly stomped is’nt funny. On a side note, and personal opinion, if anyone of our guild would say that, we would get flame like hell as in some other games “French always surrenders blahblahblah”, why the hate, c’mon we aren’t Italians

Do not think Jade Sea is anything different from Vizu. They might have 20% less active players but they mindlessly blob. They get destroyed during the day, but when the night comes they start maphopping with a hundred people at 3 am, crushing castles with 2 defenders using 15 golems…

Not trying to be mean here, just keeping it real, but the actions these french servers are known for only kinda confirm the stereotypes we all have about the French, no?… Sounds mean I know, but it’s just the way it is. Every time I hear such stories I wonder if in their heads they’re like “YEAAAAH WE’RE WINNING THIS kitten YEAAH WE DA BEST!” I really want to know lol. Same as jumping on corpses when you win a 100vs20 fight.. Do they really think they won an honorable fight? Or those reasons they gave Opt for refusing a GvG. Those excuses are so transparent, it’s unbelievable they even said that.

Again, not flaming or trying to be the bad guy here, but it’s just a fact that the french servers have the most negative reputation than any other server. And I’m just trying to figure out why. Maybe they live in this bubble or something, I don’t know, where they think everyone is jealous of them (?) But I could never be jealous of THAT. I’d be ashamed of myself.

Sure, I guess they deserve some props for staying “number 1” (doesn’t exist, but if it pleases them) for so long. But hearing all these stories about how they do it is not really inspirational. I’d rather lose and have great fights, winning even being outnumbered, than “winning” everything with my eyes closed steamrolling smaller groups like they aren’t even there. I’d really like to know their thoughts.

I agree. Plus, 3 servers HAVE to be in T1, otherwise it isn’t T1… It’s not like Deso and SFR can just “leave T1” whenever they want and leave Vizunah behind…. The servers in T2 have to move up for them to move down.

But months ago when SFR was on the rise and BT was falling, everyone that was on Blacktide already told you that this would happen. It happened later than expected, but it’s exactly what we thought would happen. T1 breaks servers, it’s been known for a while now (hate to blame VS again but they do contribute to it a lot). You still wanted to give it a go anyways, props for that, but pretty much 2 weeks in T1 I could’ve told u that it wasn’t gonna happen.

Because vizunah square are boring to fight. Because they run away in towers, scared of 1,62s repair cost. I died 20x on eb Saturday. I could have died WAAAAY less, but that would be boring. And cowardice. Did I loose money? Not really, got 5 rares from vizunah bodies. Why don’t you guys play the game (standing afk in tower aint playing). Tell me, with all the guilds leaving for various reasons, WHY would they want to come back?? The very reason they left in the first place is still here. Tier 1 is known everywhere for it’s skill lag, and blobbing. On Deso we have actively tried to avoid it where possible, but all we get is another 50+ VS blob rolling over our attempts at splitting out groups.

Tier 1 is a dead tier in my opinion, name one guild that has moved into it in the last month, just one?? i’ll even actually believe you. It will continue to die until the lag and blobbing is dealt with, which I will add is as uch Anet’s fault as it is VS for promoting this sytle of play and effectively removing any form of counter to it.

VS, you play for fun.. this is a game afterall, and everyone plays it to have fun I would hope, but even you as a server must realise, and noticed in the last few weeks, you ruin other people’s fun. It’s not the fact that you have numbers, it’s not the fact that you night cap every single night like clockwork. It is simply you make everything about WvW pointless to the point that people just plain and simple don’t want to play against you, and in fact do everything they possibly can not to.

How did you manage to miss that the guilds didn’t leave because of internal drama, but because they aren’t having fun in t1?
The servers can swallow their pride and ask the guilds to come back however much they want, its not going to fix it because the guilds will say something along the lines of “Hahahaha no.” (But likely more polite and longer)

@Centrix : you want thoughts of a French player (not playing much lately cause well … you know, its kittene atm), here they are. I’ve never been ashamed of our gameplay. I’m immensly proud to be part of Grand Cross and VS, the French community built something truly exceptionnal.
I do not think everyone is jealous of us, people who do not come on those forums have actually no idea what is going on, and they certainly don’t care who the ennemies are : they’re red, they’re dead.
However, for some of us, occasionally wandering around this part of the official forums, we’ve seen a constant form of hatred since september. Be it because we win or because we’re French or because we play in a way you don’t like or because in your fantasies you play differently or because you thought the rules are to be decided by you. Anyway, most of it had (still has) nothing to do in a videogame, even if you consider them valid.
It kind of glued the French community together (not around the fact that we’re French as some pretend, but around the fact we’re bullied), at least on VS.

So in the end … yeah sometimes we might steamroll a group of 5 with 25 (use the numbers you want). As I said : red is dead. We’re not going to stop, send a troup of 5.
I’ve been crushed by a group of 30 when soloing camps : it’s the game.

Stereotypes are a natural part of a game involving national servers : we do like to say that the germans are the best at the bunker strategy. Is it true or is it some distorted reality because of the prism of our national environment ?
This part is most certainly bigger than the game.

tl;dr : VS players are no different than any other, they play for the fun. Wether you decide they have fun or not is irrelevant.
Some VS players are not ashamed of their gameplay at all, like me. I say “some” for the sake of “not speaking for the whole server”, but I’m pretty sure the real number is 100%.

I’m pretty certain this is a case of Anet probably believing that this is a situation that will self-correct itself through player actions.

T1 is boring? Guilds will transfer out and correct the situation. The server eventually dies and drops down. The same cycle will repeat itself and guilds will repopulate servers that are considered dead before.

I think it will take a lot more stagnation and servers dying than just 2 T1 servers to make Anet do anything substantial. If Deso or SFR are still gaining good points, that means they aren’t dead enough. Game on!

You clearly don’t get the problem here. It has nothing to do with ‘losing’. Desolation (and the whole of the EU by the looks of things) is bored of Vizunah, it’s as simple as that.

The current week’s match-up was effectively over before the majority of the EU had even woken up Saturday morning, this despite Desolation leading during prime time before its main guilds logged off for the night. What incentive does this provide both Deso and SFR to play for the rest of the week? It’s a week-long match, not 24 hours. Just to further highlight one of the key issues in this tier/match-up, look at the scoring and timestamps below;

These are after reset on Friday, which is now during prime time in the EU. Until after midnight, Deso is able to fight off both SFR and Viz and history during prime time shows Deso is a strong server. Vizunah win the tier because of coverage during unsociable hours and SFR proved this is what it takes to win the tier by countering Viz with their own night coverage about a month ago now.

Whilst ANet’s idea of making WvW a 24/7 battle is a good one, there has to be some sort of scaling to the score. They cannot expect people to go flat out 24/7. They shouldn’t expect EU servers to call for help from NA players/guilds to cover during the night (and vice versa). They have to realise people have a life outside of the game that does not allow them to play during unsociable hours. It should not be too difficult for them to implement a scoring system which scales to the number of players on the map or in WvW overall.

The server/tier ratings need to change or simply disappear completely as well. Why the gap between tier 1 and 2 is widening when 2 of the tier 1 servers are actively trying to drop down a tier is simply baffling. A server shouldn’t need to force people not to play or play but not capture any points in order to drop a tier. A simple winner goes up & loser goes down system would work perfectly fine and I’m sure people would enjoy the varied match-ups.

Stereotypes are a natural part of a game involving national servers : we do like to say that the germans are the best at the bunker strategy. Is it true or is it some distorted reality because of the prism of our national environment ?
This part is most certainly bigger than the game.

tl;dr : VS players are no different than any other, they play for the fun. Wether you decide they have fun or not is irrelevant.
Some VS players are not ashamed of their gameplay at all, like me. I say “some” for the sake of “not speaking for the whole server”, but I’m pretty sure the real number is 100%.

I was trying to explain how it looks like from our side and I know that looks can be deceiving. That’s why I always try to understand the other side’s point of view as well. I try to be as open minded as possible, but I’m also very direct (straight to the point). And especially when communicating through text, it can be interpreted in the wrong way.

I just wanted to point out that this is stupid and not true. Here in America we love our guns, and we have them because of the second amendment, not because people yell loudly. Also probably because people know deep down that when law abiding citizens have more guns, theres less crime. Dont believe that statistic? I offer you a book which documents lots of gun laws, and their effect on violent crime rates over 30 years. It’s called More Guns, Less Crime, by John Lott. Similar statistics can be viewed just about everywhere. But the basic point is that gun laws dont stop criminals from getting guns, and as a criminal are you going to go rob someplace where you think you’ll probably get shot, or a place where you know no one else is going to have a gun? This common sense thinking is something even stupid criminals can determine for themselves, I’m surprised liberals cant figure it out.

Most selfish post ever. This post alone proofs Anet has to do something about it. Desolation, SFR, Elona, Kodash, Jade see in my opinion are ‘equally’ strong server at the moment and good opponents. What gives elona more the right to have ‘good fights’ then Deso or SFR? Instead of bashing us, that it’s our own fault, you should congratulate us for trying. Many weaks desolation, managed to get incredible close to vizunah (that alone is a massive achievement). Without us, your T2 would never have been that fun. And now that guild drama’s come (they would have happened to elona too, if you remained 2 months against vizunah square, so what gives you the right to bash us, when it’s just a matter of luck who is in t1 and who’s not?), we all deserve a drop.

Of course it is selfish to think that way, but I’m quite sure I’m not the only one who’s happy with being stuck in T2. Our matchup has been great, because there are 3 more or less equally skilled/active servers competing for first place, not because Deso or SFR successfully stood up against Vizunah for some time and therefore denieing us from moving up. We’ve been in a similar situation, when we were third in T1 for like 6 weeks straight and when we were finally about to drop, SFR “betrayed” us by completly boycotting WvW just to have an advantage on the proposed point reset, so don’t expect me to have any pity for this server. I have respect for both of you standing up against Vizunah, but in the end it only worked out for you, because your servers were artificial products of server hopping. I only pity the few people that have been on SFR and Deso since release and now have to go through this, because of bandwagoners.

I don’t think such a guild drama would have happened to Elona at all. First of we’re a one nation server and Germans tend to play on German servers, so that there only might be a fluctuation between Kodash and Elona and second and more important: Elona is a “natural” server, we’ve never been effected by massive server transfers making us stronger than we actually are, unlike your servers…

gun control is compeltely irrelevant to this topic, if you 2 really want to duke it out over that, take it to pms, in the meantime, let’s talk about something else which is completely not relevant to the topic for example how nobody feels sorry for bandwagon servers and how Vizunah is (or is not) to be blamed for the current state of t1.

As far as I’m aware, this is about how kitten the matchup system, Glicko, is for this particular game, screwing up matchups.

Anyways, now the “I told you so” is out of the way :P I doubt T1 will stay screwed like this for that long. It doesn’t seem as bad as T8. But yeah, nobody wants to face Vizunah, because, honestly they are just the most boring server to fight against in the EU ladder, ever. Period. No discussion. This results in nobody wanting to go to T1. I think most people view T2 as the real T1 and T1 is just like a bad trip when you took too many drugs. EDIT: Vz only win due to superior numbers when the other servers are off peak and also the FACT that they map hop. CHANGE THIS. remove wp from all maps. Once you enter a wvw map you CANNOT TRANSFER to another map for 2hours. It wont stop them from map hopping but at least when they do they will be stuck on a map for 2 hours
EDIT EDIT: even if deso and sfr combined forces it still wouldn’t be enough because of the TIME coverage – at peak times its very balanced. but vz only win due to their better 24/7 coverage

I gave a book as reference, and in that book the author analyzed data from the US government about crime rates in different cities and states and compared it to those areas gun control laws. (All of which can be verified via the US government) He then noticed that more gun laws = higher violent crime. But seriously, it’s funny how I’m the only person in the debate showing any evidence to support my claims.

wvw devs don’t care, it’s simple, even if they do they are not showing it.

A few days ago i made a post asking them if they can give us some updates about their plan for wvw in the future, such as server balance, zerg meta..etc, they did not reply.

we have plenty of devs updating community about the pve stuffs (just go to the SAB forum and see it yourself)

we have spvp devs doing monthly state of the game podcast with spvp community, i am not saying that the spvp team is perfect or something but at least they are trying.

wvw? We have nothing. Some of the wvw issues have been pointed out by players for a long time, the server lag, the boring meta of zerging, server imbalance, lack of incentives for wvw…etc

i truely hope the devs can start addressing these issues, keep us informed.
