WvW maps boring?
Having too many different maps that early will hurt the balance of maps themselves (some keep easier to take than others). It will probably happen tho. that might take a long to time for Anet to test them properly. If you look at the PvP map, a lot of it is not discovered yet. I bet more sPvP/WvW maps will show up eventually.
I actually enjoy fighting on the same maps, original tactics are nice to see. kitten you sneaky mesmers!)
Never been to EB…. Queue time is over 9000.
As for the colors, changing colors every week is confusing as hell. Trust me.

Taking DaoC as an example again, the old frontiers were always prefered over the new frontiers. Reason beeing the maps were smaller, there were more narrow paths that made the 3 sides fight eachother more, and the keeps were better located.
Having to big maps makes it so that everyone is just avoiding eachother rather then fighting. I rather have smaller maps with fewer keeps. As it is now in many GW2 maps its mostly about Trebbing the nearest keep becouse theres so many of them.
Hard to have original tactics when the maps are exactly the same. Its the smae tactics on every map.
I think the only boring thing is having all three borderlands exactly the same. While I understand the reasoning behind it, I think it would be great to have different, unique maps for each borderland, though set up in a similar style.
EB is the best map for fight imo. Problem is, most of the organize guild prefer borderlands over EB leaving EB full of pugs resulting a karma zerg train. Really kills the WvW in EB.

THe problem with that is there are zergs everywhere. The karma train has no breaks. My small group usually does hit and runs on zerg until they get 40 people to chase around the map. Its a laugh until you realize they are still chasing from north supply camp to your natural tower.

I wish they reskined each of the borderlands. Right now you run around the same old map, transferring to a new BL and oh looks EVERYTHING is exactly the same appearance but there are just different people. It gets kinda boring.

Indeed.. and since servers get reshuffled every few weeks.. not having those maps identically won’t pose an issue for balance. Since everybody will at one time get map X, Y or Z.

What? The maps aren’t boring, they’re gorgeous. I was standing at, uh… whatever the eastern keep is, on the battlements looking down for invaders and a hard gust of wind blew, sending snow flurries zigzagging around and all the trees moved in unison. It was awesome, really immersive.
Yes they are boring, they are far too small, the zerg can get to one side to another so quickly even small mans who try and take stuff get zerged down, daoc had it right with Old Frontiers when they had a much much bigger zones to roam in, small mans could do their stuff and zerg could do theirs without bumping into each other. Daoc in New Frontiers was what started the downward spiral, ppl knew where the fights were and and that meant loads of ppl flocked to that point creating a zerg and this is whats happening here. Yes ppl are still enjoying the WvW but ppl will start to get bored doing the same stuff all over everyday which take a place move to another take that let the places get retaken then retake them, it’s pve with a pvp element. Anet should go down the Daoc route, keeps/towers nicely spread out, remove the action swords from the map and have a massive frontier that can hold unlimited number of players. Battles between each realm should be unexpected with ambushes etc but thats only possible on large maps.
I do wish the borderlands used 3 different maps just to keep things switching up. I wouldn’t mind even a little bit of unintended imbalance here and there if it gave more variety. This is WvW and not competitive PvP after all.
I wish the Borderlands weren’t necessary.
WvW is so much better if everything takes place on a single map. Otherwise everything feels disjointed and doesn’t feel like a server-wide effort. Obviously there are technical limitations but I think a map about twice as large as the Eternal Battlegrounds would be significantly better than the 3 Borderlands + EB.
The maps should definitely be different. It will get boring going to any borderlands and seeing the same layout. Plus they make no sense! snowy up top then clearing into grasslands only to be snowy up top again on the other borderlands? They make a triangle with EB in the middle. Leave the northern one more or less as is, then make the other two different. maybe one more desert like and one more tropical or something. Mix it up a bit.
or at the very least rotate the maps. so instead of running to the northern most supply camp (godsword) it would be the most eastern/western camp.
And borderlands should give a bit of a defensive favor to the home team. I dont know if there are any lore or w/e about it but the way i see it is thats your border, behind you is your home turf. you are what stands between the enemy and your people. You would want that place to be defensive.
Maybe they’ll change it a ways down the road or something. im not to worried about it ATM because its still fun. will be even more fun when i can see people again >.<

It was far better suited for 3 worlds like here and something that needs to happen here along with a rank system if WvW is to have any long lasting effect on the game.

Exaggeration. Each Borderlands is about the size of 2.5 DAOC zones. Each DAOC frontier had, what, 5 zones? (PRK, MRK, middle zone with 4keep, then the border keep — so 4 zones). So the current 3x Borderland + EB map layout is roughly the same amount of “MAP” as all the DAOC frontiers.
It feels more condensed because:
1. There are more rails in GW2 (although way less than Warhammer). In GW2 there is a lot of vertical terrain with cutoff points. In DAOC RvR there was mostly open terrain.
2. There are more players with a more consistent zone allocation in GW2. In DAOC RvR, many zones would be “empty” at any given time. In GW2, due to the separate player caps and queues, more zones are more full of players. This increases the feeling of being “congested”, even though the reality is that the total # of players isn’t hugely different.
Edit: Oh, and the teleport timer to get into “away” frontiers. That staggered the population out a bit, furthering the variety of population concentration.

yeah skills could pwn you in less time, DAOC shadowblade with 2 hander axe for the first 4-5 months could one shot casters. I would stand in the road stealthed and if a caster ran down it, I could one shot them. In large groups just stealth behind and one shot casters sitting down.

The maps are only boring if they’re silent. I’ve never had a boring time in WvW. There’s always too much going on to get bored.
