Hey guys,

I think its pretty clear the current system has an extreme tendency towards utter domination. For my server we either win in a landslide or lose in a landslide based on who we are matched up with at the time. Losing pushes us down to a landslide bracket…then winning pushes us back up into a bracket where we get utterly destroyed by servers with bigger off-peak populations.

At this point I am hoping ANET abandons their plans for 2 week matchups since they don’t seem to want to balance scoring for lower pop servers.

I’m kind of hoping this, too.

I don’t want them to abandon their plans. I want them to do whatever they have to do to make matches that last a week.

I really feel that we are ready for one week matches and these sadly are just the growing pains we need to endure for the first week (though if I’m wrong after this week I’ll probably be complaining :P).

The way I feel is that one day for most servers is NOT a good indicator at how best to match your server. For example, my server Anvil Rock dominated I think it was Tuesday – Thursday but now is getting destroyed on the weekend. As a result we got bumped up in the rankings (due to the one day thing) and now are getting floored by Yak’s bend. I think they need this week to see how each server performs for the duration of an entire week and then we’ll see some better matchups.

The problem is that since this is the first week…well it’s going to be horrible for some of us.

I still have a great time on WvW with Anvil rock, though we are losing atm by a huge margin, we can work as a team and do succeed in securing objectives and making progress. It’s not lasting due to the huge disparity in our opponent (Yak’s bend) but the other server (Darkhaven) is only beating us by about 5,000 so our other opponent is pretty dead on.

Again, this first week is gonna be painful I think, but after the matchups should be better.

Think of the one server a day thing as a broad range match maker, this a more fine adjustment before we settle in to two weeks once we’ve had maybe a month or so of these one week matches. Just my two cents (and if I’m wrong after this week I’m wrong)

I am not so optimistic. The problem is not the matchmaking. It is the scoring system which rewards off-peak capping and encourages a snowball effect and impossible margins after short periods of play.
