Suggestions for a male Asura Warrior name.
If you follow canon, Asura don’t have last names.
(And if Gizmo is free, grab it before someone else does – that’s a great Asura name!)
If it is taken then you can add a title or honorific, though as Zenguy said, they don’t have last names. But they do use titles so go Crazy
Asura usually use their titles after their names.
From the wiki:
“An asura’s name usually consists of a short, sharp first name with one or two syllables. Feminine asura names typically end in -i or -a vowel sounds, and the masculine in a consonant sound. Any asura whose name does not follow these rules may risk ridicule during childhood. Both male and female Asuras typically have two of the same letter in a row somewhere in their name. Asura do not have a last name, instead opting to use job titles, a krewe name, or honorifics to differentiate themselves. Those who choose to take a last name of a style similar to humans are rare and are considered eccentrics, though their surname is often ignored by other asura.”
Hope it helps
Asura might not canonically have surnames, but good luck in finding a short monosyllable name that’s not already taken. Adding a creative surname to the end can even get Blipp through the name filter.
My ele’s name is Flykk, since my main warrior is flyfunner and i didn’t really think of making it asura sounding. Anyways, the name flykk was taken, so I just added the title ‘archmage’ in front of it, so now I have a kick kitten ele named ‘archmage flykk’. Although I’ll probably get a name change to Archmage Flikk since I don’t think people pronounce flykk as flick, but as fly + k
It’s less about being a harsh one syllable name and more about being harsh and using letter pairings.
Oola

Blimm
Aell

Florggi
Meggel
Sokka
etc etc etc
Yes it helps if it’s one syllable, but emphasis seems to be on repeating a certain letter within the name. You can deviate away from that successfully as long as the name retains the same general feeling. For example, I’d find the names Mrog and Tirrval to both be acceptable within lore/culture.

I’m with Kerithlan here: names with double or even triple syllables are still acceptable as long as they fall within the conventions: a double consonant, with masculine names ending in consonant sounds, feminine names ending in vowel sounds.
The wiki said both one and two sylable names are common. Three syllibles are still okay but they risk a childhood of ridicule. What’re you gonna do? kids are cruel.
Just as an example of deviations away from “normal” naming conventions, I bumped into an NPC named Kajunk earlier. He was a male asura. It just needs to retain the same feeling and you’re set.

Just stay away from “cog”, “gear” and steampunk names. It’s not Asuran at all.
I named one of my Asura “Vekk” because hell, I always use Vekhtor as my name and it that variation sounded really Asura. My surprise when I found an ingame monument to 3 of the greatest golemancers in history and saw one them was named Vekk was big.
May bf and me play two (really cute and crazy) asura elementalists which we named Naaarp (mine, female asura) and Yaaarp (his, male asura).
His second asura, a male warrior, was named Glebb. He tried a lot other names before, until he found one, that wasn’t taken.
If you like Gizmo, but the name is taken, you can adapt it to:
- Gizzmo
- Gizz
- Giizm
- and so on
Personally, I don’t like surnames for asura. Doesn’t feel right, for me.
- Gizz
- Giizm
I would advise against those names if only because if ever pronounced with a soft G, may not be very flattering.
IMO, you don’t need a double letter in the name to be Asuran. If the name is available then sure but no ones going to pronounce a double letter anyway.

Vekk was a hero (npc companion that you were able to customize) in GW1. He’s voiced by Maurice LaMarche who is pretty well-known for his vast body of work. I recognized him as the voice of Brain from Pinky and the Brain, but he was also many of the characters in Futurama (such as Kif, Calculon, and Hedonism Bot), Alec Baldwin in Team America: World Police, and more recently Mr. Freeze in Batman: Arkham City.

I was trying for a good few hours to think of a single word name for my new asura character, I gave up and ended up going with Freak Nasty.

I have created a very simple java program that prints out a random string of letters of the length you want (between 1-20). If you understand java and how to use it in NetBeans or Eclipse or something, I can post the code if you want it’s useful not because it will give you an actual name, but because it might give a cool letter combination which you might want to use in your character name.
Edit: Also, my male Asura mesmer name is Braxx Vractson. It has a last name, but of course I had to add one because Braxx was already taken. So I decided that he had a father named Vract (which name I assumed was also already taken), so he is therefor Braxx Vractson. I know they don’t normally have last names, but is this a fine name for my male Asura?

Your asura’s just a bit eccentric, MangoMan. That’s all. :P
Awe… Is it possible to change your name? Or am I going to have to start over? because I don’t want to deal with 80 levels and beyond with even a minor problem, I guess I have a bit of OCD. I wouldn’t mind starting over, he’s only level 4 or something.
Edit: Just discovered that there is a name changing item in-game. I don’t know how to get it though. Even if I could get it though, it most likely would not be worth it. I shall have to start over :/

if it’s going to bother you, you might as well start over. level 4 is nothing.

Just did, I’m happy with my new name: Braakt. He’s a mesmer, really like it so far.

Thanks very much But dang that’s a shame to lose a level 21! Don’t blame you though, best to fix problems earlier rather than later. Like I said, it would suck to get to 80 and decide you don’t like the name, hehe.

I’m a bit surprised nobody’s named their Asura “Mr Bigg” yet. XD (Or maybe somebody already has. Haven’t checked!)
Haha… Wait do Asuras have things like Mr. or Mrs. in their names?

I know I’ve seen ‘genius’ ‘the great’ and others that may do the same thing in their society.

Congratulation for that name and enjoy your mesmer!

Name it Mötley Krewe :-)
Thanks guys I’m actually pretty surprised I was able to get a name like that.

It says one or TWO syllables. don’t forget to repeat a consonant in there somewhere.
