Rate the Norn Name Above You
I like the first name – it’s suitably “Norn.” Not so sure on the last name, but it does work and lets you identify your spirit.
Sverre Foesbane. A Ranger with a tendency to slay things.
Sound nornish to me, I especially like the sound of the surname. All in all it’s a solid name worth at least 7/10.
Kendrak Shiverfang – A ranger and a follower of Wolf, who strives to live by the virtues of loyalty, honour and valour.
hello all,
my norn engineer is named
“Grandpa Bloodb”
cheers,
O
you grow old because you quit gaming.”
Oliver Wendell Holmes.
All very good nominations:
Mine is a norn warrior who goes by the name of
Azz Raelson
Live and die on this day. Live and die on this day.”
Like the last name, but the first name sounds more Asuran… I bet your Norn got teased while at school!
Aranorn Elessarson is my Norm mesmer
Nyota Moonshadow is my Norn ranger
Katlinel Darkeyes is my Norn guardian
I like all of your names, the surnames fit very well. Aranorn and Katlinel fit quite nicely with norn, but I’m not that sure about Nyota as it sounds a bit exotic. However, all are still good norn names and fit very well.
My name wasn’t rated , anyways here it is again!
Kendrak Shiverfang – A ranger and a follower of Wolf, who strives to live by the virtues of loyalty, honour and valour.
I do like that name. The surname seems just a tad generic, but I shouldn’t say anything, ‘cause I didn’t want a surname on my character. :P 9.99999/10 from me!
Folkvar (He would be a Norn guardian if I ever got the chance to switch him; the name literally means “guardian of the people”. I’ve been Folkvar for Norn-like races and Dwarves in games for as long as I can remember, and I usually play the tanky character.))
Havkaar (Norn Ranger. Not really sure where I was going with that name, but I liked how it sounded. :P)
I dunno why, I just tend to shy away from surnames. Probably because I like short and sweet names ingame, and then add them later for roleplay if I feel like it.

I like it, very “Norn-ish”.
And Nordic, too
Mine is… “Susan Stark”
Makes me think of tony stark from iron man. Its cool though in my opinion.
My norn bald big scary with a blood colored mark on his left eye. His angry face staring right at you with his giant height intimidating shorter enemies. The name for such a giant threatening beast man?
Peewee Nornman.
LMAO, what a great name especially for a norn
Live and die on this day. Live and die on this day.”
Ozgard Thorson
A big bulky scarey Norn Warrior
Ozilius ~ 80 Guardian ~ Member of [SOUL]
Proud Citizen of Far Shiverpeaks
Yea very warrior sounding lol nice how about
Varian Thunderfury
Sounds like a Norn that was raised in Divinity’s Reach or The Grove. I give you 7/10 though!
Kaujar Baersk – Norn Guardian
Naujar Baersk – Norn Warrior
[VLK] Valkyria Immortalis
Henge of Denravi
8/10 I like the “jar” in the name
Lykarna – Guardian/Norn
Shermia – Ele ( I know it doesn’t sound Norn at all, maybe Charr tho )
I wish I could add a family name too
here’s a curveball…my maxed-height norn guardian is named “Sam The Hobbit”
Ulhan Sturmfaust – Guardian
Ulfur Blackmane – Theif
Gunnar Falkson – Warrior
I have no problem going out the same way.
Ulhan Sturmfaust [TW]
9/10 perfect viking sounding names
my female norn ele’s name is Tolmaere
i rather like that name 9/10
my norn warr’s name is jeska the braided
Nope. Its more fun that way
Horthogher Letha is my norns name
Saveth Darkwolf, he’s my theif, i got three theives no idea why i got like them
9/10. I really like Saveth. Darkwolf is ok, seems a little charr-ish.
Solberg Skjeggestad is my Norn warrior and Magnus Baerenklau is my Norn ranger.
Solberg Skejeggestad Nordic, obviously. It means sun (sol) place (mountain) and Skjeggestad means bearded one’s place. The meanings are very secondary though. I just really liked the way it sounded and wanted to go very Nordic with my Norn’s name.
My ranger I’ve only played on a little bit, and I went with a more Germanic name. Baerenklau sounds like bear claw, but it’s actually the name of a flower whose genus is named for Hercules.
Darkwolf comes from the fact his spirit guide is wolf and dark just the color of his wolf, kinda like Knut white bear
I like that Darkwolf very norn 9/10. Alao the bear claw one 10/10
My Norn is a ranger called Maddog Kraftig.
maddog kraftig, I like the sound of it.
a very ‘powerful’ sounding lastname if you catch my drift (wink wink obvious hint).
maddog is an overall good sounding norn name.
wouldnamemycharacterthat/10
my norn name is:
fhearghus (no last name, though I havn’t had a single comment on it in RP)
6/10 I really don’t get why, but it just sounds bad verbally and just doesn’t look right, and especially considering your in an RP environment also why no last name, it goes with the lore of the norn and probably would help to support your name.
My norn guardians name is Kyrian Iron blood. In all honesty it was meant to be my charr’s name, and but because I hate the charr and decided against making one I recycled it onto my norn.
Sounds very nice. 8/10
Eydis Swanhvir
Good name! Sounds very Norn-like.
My character is called Gaardfrid. I chose to go without a second name even though I find it really awesome with characters with good second names. My name is nordic inspired, but in essence it’s just gibberish and doesn’t really have a meaning.
I like Gaardfrid. It looks like it should mean something. I was also amused at Sam the Hobbit upthread there.
Ylsa Kalisdottir is my ranger; I had a human warrior on GW1 named Kalisdottir, and since I couldn’t remember any of my old account info I thought it was a nice way to remember it.
Ylsa Kalisdottir – 8/10. I’d give it 10/10 if she was a necromancer, as an homage to the Hindu goddess, Kali. (Look her up on the interwebs, if any goddess/god should be a necro, it’s Kali)
My norns:
Female Ranger: Fluffy Ferocious
Female Warrior: Grande Chai
Female Mesmer: Dharma Delicious
No, just no. You have disgraced the serious norn with these funny names.
Atlantis Atalanta
Very….“Atlantic”
I know, terrible pun but it is a good name.
My norn’s name is Lokia Icewolf
She is a ranger with a pet alpine wolf and follows the path of, you guess it, Wolf.
“Lokia” is the female version of the name Loki, who is a trickster god. She’s also in Whispers.
The ice part is just because she likes to wear white
Obviously this guy never came upon an injured ranger and her ticked-off pet.
8/10 for Lokia Icewolf for the norn-like/huntress-like name.
My norn is a theif named Vegeirr Volstrudd.
My norn is a theif named Vegeirr Volstrudd.
Very nordic I like it
My rangers name is Dezorak Windstalker
and
My Warriors name is Dezorak Stormhammer
Commander of the Minion’s of Grenth
Proud JQ Resident
I like those two, they have a very classic fantasy ring to them that fits the norn well.
I Myself got two Norns, Hilda Hrafnsdottir a ranger and, Aina Vanspeil a mesmer
The first one uses Hrafn which is Icelandic for raven, while for the second one I tried to do something different so I went with the name Aina which means “forever” while Van Speil is Swedish for “of the mirror”
(edited by SouthernCross.5286)
Hilda Hrafnsdottir 6/10 for hard pronouncing.
Aina Vanspeil 9/10 for creativity.
I have an obvious norn male guardian called Karjalan Karhu (Bear of Karelia).
And female engineer called Lumi Ki.
Karjalan Karhu 8/10
Not the usual pattern for the last name, but fits nicely.
Lumi Ki 6/10
Doesn’t sound as Norn-y, and the last name again
Yragda Bearclaw
Harlv – my guardian – wanted to add Skyggen but it would be too much
(edited by Harlov.9204)
Karjalan Karhu 8/10
Not the usual pattern for the last name, but fits nicely.
Lumi Ki 6/10
Doesn’t sound as Norn-y, and the last name againYragda Bearclaw
10/10 The combination sounds “ranger-y” and fit for a follower of the Spirit of Bear (hope somehow I got it right ) I would rate you 11/10 if only because my female ranger starts with a Y too and given name starts with “Bear” also.
Úlfr Forgemaster – Male engineer.
Harald The Strom – Male Elementalist.
Yrsa Bearbrawler – Female Ranger.
9/10 for all three, all very Norn-ish
Eir Ona GString – female guardian – coz I thought I was being ‘clever’ and it sounded Norn-ish.
(edited by Supasilvafoxy.1247)
“GString” part aside, it seems alright. Obviously, “Eir” isn’t the most original first name, and “Ona” sounds more Asuran. The whole gimmick is humorous, and I only really got it just now after I analyzed the name. XD 6.5/10
Blaer Vorsdottir – Female Rogue
(edited by Dirgimzib.1028)

Blaer Vorsdottir – Female Rogue
^ very Norn, i’ve seen a something-dottir Norn before, can’t remember if it was an npc or player but it fits well, as does Blaer. Blaer seems like it could be male or female so you lose half a point ‘cos i can’t tell what you are if i just see your name in chat – 9.5/10
Bjorn Hograkk – Male Ranger
Bjorn = Bear (cliche, but traditional), Hograkk = “Aggressive” in ancient Jotun – his ancestor became know to them as such
9/10 …Rock solid Norn name
Mine are:
Ragnor Bladefist – Engineer
Ragnor is a variation for the Old Norse name Ragnar (Ragnarr) meaning “judgment warrior”
Thorvald Bladefist – Guardian
Thorvald is a variation for the Old Norse name Thor (Þórr) meaning “thunder”.
Ajax Bladefist – Warrior
Ajax is a the English version of the Greek name Aias (forum doesn’t like Greek characters) meaning “he who mourns”
They all have the same last name cause they are all part of the same clan.
" I don’t discriminate. I hate all of you equally…"
(edited by daweed.6520)
^ Really cool choices. There’s something about titles like “Bladefist” that makes you think twice about messing with someone. :P
My Warrior: Úlfhildr Mánidottir
Name meanings are “wolf”, “battle”, “moon” and “daughter” so with some creativity (ignoringgrammar*cough*) you get “Wolf of Battle, Daughter of the Moon”.
(edited by Zanzilla.5714)
Úlfhildr Mánidottir “Wolf of Battle, Daughter of the Moon”.
sounds really fierce, mate. I think it s great that YOU have a meaning of your own nickname, not anyone else
as for me – Lockborn, Norn Engineer… thinking about coming back to gw2 now )
Úlfhildr Mánidottir “Wolf of Battle, Daughter of the Moon”.

Lockborn? Sounds fitting if he uses it as a title!
My Norn: Ivaara of Black Ice; a Mesmer, and the title has meaning relevant to her personal history.
two straight vowels in a name always had a nornish feel to me, so thats a plus, another thing is you have 4 vowels to 2 consonants, another 2:1 ratio, follows eir’s pattern
Hroban
7/10
Brynhildr Wyrmbane
9/10.
Brynhildr is a solid and appropriate Nordic sounding name, and Wyrmbane is a fitting surname – particularly given that the Norn’s personal story begins with slaying the massive wurm Issomir. Overall perfectly fitting for a Norn.
Mine is Halvar Shadowseer, a necromancer and devotee of Raven. Though he has nowhere near the connection to the Mists as the Havrouns, he occasionally has visions into the Mists of things that were and things that may come to pass (hence the seer part of the name). He’s by no means prophetic, as they are only shadowy glimpses whose meaning can only be guessed at, but he sees them as gifts of Raven. He believes that Raven would rather have him use his cleverness and wisdom to tease the meanings from such visions rather than give him clear messages.
A bit of backstory there, but it informs the surname so I thought it was worth including.
