Rate the Norn Name Above You
Baldr…true Nor….dd….nn) 7
My Elem’s name is Skarit Soulfrost) Like the beetle)) But sounds nice to me)
Sounds interesting, although a little too close to Skritt for my taste.
Here’s my Norn Guardian, Keg Tossington.
Unfortunately I haven’t stuck o the Norn naming too much but I briefly had a Ele called Atia Magnuson.
But, I presently have a Norn female Warrior named Var Bloodstone and a Ranger named Denaris Steelborne…unfortunately I failed to consider the similarity to well known character (at least around here) Denarys Stormborn Now people call my Ranger “Mother of Dragons”…soooo not the intent!
I need a name change ticket!!!
ooops forgot to rate the Norn name above me. Great name, Keg Tossington, although the last name sounds a bit British…but who am I to comment…lol.

Good names 8/10 in my opinion for them.
Mine is boring: Farstrike (Ranger) Would probably be better as a human or one of the fairy plant people. Just could not let myself do that!
Dragon Brand
My name Is…. Olfson…. Skuld Olfson
Skuld Olfson – 9/10
Norn name for norniously nornish norn.
Baldur The Betrayer
Got this idea of an ex Son of Svanir necromancer who turned on his former brethren, embracing the demeaning title and wearing it with pride.

Farstrike is an awesome name! Here’s Denaris my Ranger and Var the Warrior.

Baldur the Betrayer is a great name, but he must have a tough go of it making friends!

Who cares about making friends when you have a flesh golem?

I have to admit I immediately made the Denarys Stormborn connection as well, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Var is a great name for a Norn Warrior, I call that a win.
Mine is a necromancer called Thessaly Erinyes. Wanted her to have the look and feel of a witch of the wilds.
Thessaly Erinyes: 7/10 I quite like it!
Mine is a young engineer girl named Sjöfn Ragnfridr! Had to use a human body to make the child like look, but it’s funny to have a young character acting like a juggernaut with a flamethrower! And quite original when doing RP, I guess.

I cant even pronounce your name haha…. So I can at least say its very interesting!
Now I’m embarassed, everyone has very interesting names.
Mine is Franbunny….which is my first name in real life(not joking, it it really is). I’m not that creative so i just use my first name for all my avatars because its a fairly unique name.

(edited by FranBunnyFFXII.3508)
I’d say it’s like a 7.5/10
I like it: it sounds like it could be a nickname of the character that just stuck on her. And you’re right, it’s rather unique
My Norn Ranger goes by Idonea Tru (meaning: “Strength of the Spear To Renew Nature” )
I’ll give you a +8.5/10. My Norn Guardian is Svanira Coldsteel, and the first “Daughter” of Svanir.
9/10. I like it and it fits.
My Norn Ranger is named Marionette Lacoste.
2/10
Doesn’t fit norn at all.
Norn ranger: Thorgrim Bearpaw
Thorgrim Bearpaw I like it. Especially the bearpaw.
Both my norns are dark skinned and made to resemble native americans.
Hunter: Naffirii
pronounced (nah-fear-ee)
Mesmer: Slayer of Moon
Your names don’t quite fit norns, but since you’re making them resembling native americans I kinda like it. That’s the beauty of rpg. You can create your own little story in your mind. 7/10
I love the viking history and the norse mythology, which is why I made a norn. My norn is named Thorbjorn Bearheart. Thor is my favourite god, and a strong name in my opinion, and Bjorn means bear in nordic languages. My character is a strong warrior and his spirit guide is bear, hence Bearheart.
9/10 if I didnt know better i would think that was a nord from skyrim lol…anyway mine is
Weylin Stormstrider. he is a guardian and a raven so i just thought"raven, flying, flying in storms,…..yolo"
you have as many Oscars as Leonardo DiCaprio and Johnny Depp. :)
8/10. Sounds pretty epic
My norn is a ranger named Catniss.
The book version with a “k” was already taken.
8/10
Not sure how Norn it sounds, for sure inspires bravery
My warrior is called Gevurah Midat Hadin
Oh I get to do two! Awesome!
Olaf, Viking name… berserkesr great warriors, not really known as the guardian types, lore friendly so bonus!
Aetra Ironbender. Well did some research on that one because I couldn’t find any names “Aetra” Closest I found was a greek name Aethra which means “She knows”… so She knows how to bend iron. Weaponsmithing lvl 400? =P
My amazing female Ranger Norn is
Riven Winterwolf
Riven is an old english name meaning “To rip to pieces” Winterwolf is actually two surnames. Winter was an old english name meaning “bad temperament, cold” Wolf was one who hunted wolves.
The female norn plays like and acts like a total brute. She’s always talkign about how she’s going to kick someones kitten so I feel “Riven” To tear to pieces fits her, and she seems quick to get upset over small things. Also I picked her spirit as the wolf and started her pet as the wolf given her a solid theme. As the story takes places in the snowy shiverpeak mountains and my trust sidekicks are my wolves. Running a bm bunker built I go for long fights where I tear them down piece by piece until I catch them with all my conditions at once.
10/10 for Riven Winterwolf, I wish I had thought something like that first.
Ran Shadowhunter – ginger female norn ranger
(I know, I know, lack of imagination, but still…)
7/10 sounds cool but its a bit too generic for me haha
mine is a female warrior called
Arya Frey
8/10 has a nice ring to it.
Mine’s a male guardian (Blond to boot with scars): Random Pug Killer
XD
8/10 has a nice ring to it.

XD
1/10 because I feel like you might randomly kill a puppy, and that makes me sad.
Krutt Fjellsson is the name of my Norn Engi.
It’s Norwegian and is intended to mean ‘Gunpowder, son of Mountain’.

I seriously hope you’re joking lol. That’s not the pug I had in mind with that name.

What springs to mind springs to mind! Double meaning will be the death of you. :P
Jornosh
Norn Warrior
Putting Perspective on Zerg Sizes since 2012. Common Suffixes for 40+ include ~Zilla and ~Train
“Seriously, just dodge.”
Markus Titan
Kept it simple and efficient :P
Jornosh is a cool name, I like.
I’m no lore expert but after having a shifty around Guild Wars lore came up with:
Abaddon Sunspear
He’s a Necromancer as well which at first seemed a bit weird for the Norn but looks awesome in combat.
my recently created norn is called simply
Viljastyrk.
The last few here have forgotten that this is a “Rate the Name Above You” thread. I’ll pick up the slack.
Markus Titan: 4/10, this name is better suited to a human character. Markus feel less Norn than Human.
Abaddon Sunspear: 4/10, this name seems better suited to a Sylvari. It doesn’t feel Norn at all.
Vilijastyrk: 1/10. How does this come across as Norn? Sylvari, maybe. I’m having a hard time placing where this name would fit into the lore of any race.
My Norn Ranger is named Torgal Shadowpaw. Dark hair, well groomed beard, and white tattoos. He’s a devoted follower of Wolf. Wolf has blessed him with his form.
fans hate Joffrey. They hate her the way Star Wars
fans hate Jar Jar Binks.”-not a direct quote, but still true.
I couldn’t simply rate Abaddon Sunspear as a norn name, it doesn’t make any sence, not after Nightfall.
—-
Viljastyrk – 8/10 – there’s some meaning behind the name right? swedish, maybe finnish; couple of name elements – Vilja, Styr, Styrr
—-
Torgal Shadowpaw, hmm good one, I’ll give you 7/10 – can’t help myself but the Shadowpaw surname reminds me more of ash legion charr spy
—-
I have one norn character so far (in leveling progress) – Tor Daligrumpa (game can’t handle å, so it’s only Daligrumpa), a warrior.
Nythanryn Zior, human necromancer | and others
(edited by Valior.4712)
… Daligrumpa? Dålig rumpa? As in “bad butt”? Doesn’t really sound very fitting for a Norn, to be honest. :p Tor is a solid choice, though.
Currently leveling a Norn called Eirikr Hakonsson.
And Valior, yes, vilja=“will”, styrka=“strength, confirm” in Swedish. “Viljestark” means someone who is stubborn.

Very nice! Sounds like a Viking name (I guess Norn remind me of Vikings in general).
Mine is a female Norn named Alopexx. It is a synonymous name for the arctic fox. Plus an additional “x” due to the actual spelling being taken :/
Alopexx I like it but it sounds more asuran than norn to me.
My female Norn guardian is named Maggie Jackdaw.
She is devoted to Raven (aka Magpie, Jackdaw, Rook, etc…) and is not related to those scurvy Jackdaw Pirates. Maggie has quite a taste for a good ale and will sometimes go overboard on her drinking, but always a good time is had! She also seems to think that she’s a princess as she keeps a princess wand handy to set her foes ablaze and likes to romp around with her “fairy” wings.
7/10
Sounds like a mentally insane pirate, not so much a norn… but norns can still be pirates
Sigrid the Unwise
Engineer & Demolition ‘Expert’
Ha, now thats a terrific name! 10/10, no joke.
Hilda Vidarrsdottir
Ranger & Beastmaster
Ragnar silverwolf, he follows the ways of wolf and to prove he’s a deicated follower of wolf he has a white wolf named Fenrir the silver part comes from his silver hair
10/10 Ragnar Silverwolf is a pretty traditional sounding norn name.
Mine is a necro by the name Venki Havroun of Ox.
Though Ox has fallen silent since staying to defend the norn from Jormag, Venki’s family has kept the ways and practices of the havroun and he is the third generation to do so since the exodus.
9/10 I like it! I don’t see very many norn with titles.
My three are:
Ormar Brynakin, Necro
Reinard Ottarsson, Ranger
Alfgeirr Oxhammer, Warrior
Nice ones, Yata – 8/10 minimum.
Kára Svipul, female warrior.
Coriolyss, female guardian.
Those sound very norse, Lynx. I like it
Ysmir Honorhorn, male ranger
Ysmir sounds excellent! Honorhorn, on the other hand, has just too many repetitions of too few letters. 8/10
My char is a Norn Necro, called Morbridae. He doesn’t know his surname.
@ Sorrow’s Furnace (VE)
@Morbridae
You got a chuckle out of me with the whole “he doesn’t know his surname” bit.
8/10 – I really like the name, especially relating it it to death and the like with him being a necro. I also really like one-word names, so plus for that. Not a perfect 10/10 to me only because instead of a Nordic/Viking phonetic feel, I instead get a Latin (and distantly Celtic) flavor, which is atypical of Norn lore.
My female Norn ranger:
Svalinka
I had the intention of naming her “Svala” however it was already taken, so I added a Russian diminutive suffix. Don’t like how I had to do that though, ’cause it sounds less Norse-inspired then.
In-game I don’t like using multi-worded names ’cause I find them annoying to type. However if I were to give the Norn ranger a full name it would be:
Svala Valkyrsund
- Svala = Old Norse roots for “swallow,” like the bird
- Valkyr- = valkyrie (perhaps she’ll slay a bunch of valkyries, iunno xD)
- -sund = Nordic surname affix meaning “sound”
my norn warrior
Grant Bearclaw
Grant sounds like it would be a human name, too friendly-sounding for a huge buffed beast, maybe it’s just me. :P
I rate 4/10! Mms maybe add 1 more for ‘Bearclaw’, although it sounds pretty generic. 5/10!
My Norn Guardian is: Kyros The White
I wanted to have a name that started with ‘K’, since it is rarely ever done in most cultures, making it sound exotic. ‘The White’ relates to both his profession and personality, as white is generally related to holiness or the good, hence why it’s my guardian’s name! He is also a follower in the ways of the wolf, but he is called the ‘White’ due to his similarities to a White Wolf, AKA Arctic/Snow Wolf. They live and hunt in packs, but the males will usually leave and find their own territory, then recruiting other lone wolves to join them, which means that my character travels alone, but can always find friends in need and work together as a team.
A true guardian fighter. Just my 2 cents! Hah!
