Caledon forest isn't thick enough.
It doesn’t have enough.. “Sylvari” objects.
You have the start and the swamp. And then all the pretty, colorful plants disappear!
Maybe caledon forest is not the right place to put those thick forests I’m longing for. I have my hopes in echovald forest.

Definitely looking forward to an un-petrified Echovald.
of course its not a thick forest, when you got a tree like the pale tree sucking up who knows how much nutrients from the soil a second. I’m surprised there is any plant life near it XD
I’ve thought the same thing. But maybe they’re trying to preserve line of sight a little bit. Lots and lots of trees and vegetation can easily get people lost, or make it difficult to fight monsters.

That, and also the more objects you put on screen the more work peoples computers have to do to render them. There is a reason you don’t ever see thickly forested areas in any games, people computers just couldn’t handle it.
But as you said, fighting or navigating in those kinds of areas would be a nightmare.

Agreed that you probably shouldn’t throw new players into a hard to navigate zone but what about a higher level zone? It could be part of the challenge/dynamic events.
They honestly just need to improve upon the Maguuma Jungles, like the areas they had in Guild Wars 1. The one thing you get enough of is plains, even the Shiverpeaks feel like they don’t enough, but that’s just my opinion.

Maguuma jungle in GW1 was just paths thru a dense jungle, but the paths weren’t dense, just narrow with falling spiders. I like the GW2 jungles better. Dynamic terrain, windy vines you can run on, swamps and ponds and jungle oh my! I like it. Caledon is one of the most visually appealing places in GW2.

Keep in mind we have yet to explore inland Maguuma. So far it is really just the outer edges of the jungle along the Tarnished Coast.
It is true that the forest is perhaps not thick enough. Tight. I want to lose myself in the thick darkness leaves hiding the sky.
My magpies prendrent in roots feel lost, discovering ruins invaded by vegetation.
