Q:
Silvary and centaurs
Correct me if I’m wrong but Ventari lived with humans in peace, he was an exception, right? That’s prooobably the main reason why they don’t favor centaurs as a whole.
That^ ventari’s tablet came from a centaur but isn’t really “centaur culture”. e.g. The centaur don’t necessarily live by it.
Then we know that sylvari are explicitly imitations of humans. So whether consciously or subconsciously, the Pale tree geared them toward humanity to one extent or another.
Ventari is the exception to the rule. On a whole centaurs are a violent race. The ones that arnt for war (and there are a few) are shunned in their society.
Theres a centaur in LA that will tell you this if you bother to talk to him.
I think I can answer this: The Sylvari revere the teachings of Ventari, and the centaur go against the teachings.
IV. All things have a right to grow. The blossom is brother to the weed. – The centaur kill and enslave humans, and they consider themselves superior over ‘two legged’ beings.
V. Never leave a wrong to ripen into evil or sorrow. – Not fighting the centaur would mean letting their evil actions go unchecked.
I think it’s kind of a missed opportunity that there is no storyline of sylvari trying to reach out to the centaur, or even a mention of regret that the culture that spawned the being who shaped the entire sylvari existence is so unlike him. There is no sylvari-centaur interaction at all that I remember, yet there must be some centaur somewhere that aren’t “evil”, or at least could be nudge towards a more peaceful existence, and given how idealistic many sylvari are, I could see at least some of them trying to do that no matter the danger.

There are. But right now they are focusing their efforts toward peaceful solutions with humans. I think this makes sense given the immediate problem of the limited amount of land that both human and centaur compete over.
I remember doing that Order quest with the Centaurs and if I recall correctly, when I met with the centaurs they referred to me as “Nature Spirit” or something like that, they kinda treated me different because I was Sylvari, not with immediate hate like they would a Human. So even if the Centaurs don’t really like the Sylvari, they think of the Sylvari as some kind of mythological creatures or spirits in their beliefs. I don’t think the Sylvari have to think anything of them just because Ventari was the pacifistic exception of a Centaur.
Order of Whispers? Figures, that is the one I have NOT done with a sylvari. :p Thanks, something to keep in mind for possible future characters.
