Sylvari questions and my answers
Plants are fragile. More so than human skin. That’s why we’re stronger.
Because there female?
A Sylvari drinking plant juice isn’t cannibalism any more than humans eating another animal is. It’s not consumption of the same species.
Unless the drink is fermented Sylvari blood or something… shudder
Hmmm, that sounds more like nightmare court stuff :P

i wonder if predators actualy would try and eat a sylvari it really interest me as they are some sort of Vegtebles. (never thought of it if Sylvaris have blood of some sort heh)

Sylvari have a golden sap running through their veins in place of blood.

More importantly, if a Sylvari smokes a cigar, do they exhale oxygen?
Now that you mentioned eating other plants and cannibalism.
For Sylvari to be our equivalent of vegetarian, does s/he have to eat only meat?
Speaking of which, was anywhere mentioned if Sylvari have to eat, or is some water and sunlight enough for them to exist?

No, they do have to eat. It’s been mentioned that sunlight acts sort of like a cup of coffee to them, but they do still need to eat actual food.

Well, I guess it makes sesne. Unlike ordinary flowers Sylvari aren’t rooted in the earth to gain nutrients so they must receive energy from external source. Plus the ability to actively move, think and perform various other conscious and subconscious tasks like any other animal requires much more energy than usualy flowers require.
Their stomachs are like pitcher plants. Go look them up. It’s quite interesting.

Not sure where you found this piece of information, but I can’t seem to find it.
Though it’t interesting to imagine.
Just doing a quick look of a few links I found a quote from Ree that speaks about it in some part:
Do sylvari need to eat food?
“They do have a stomach area in their body, it does decompose material just like a humans would and then uses that material to fuel the body.” -Ree Soesbee, Wartower InterviewYes. Sylvari lack roots or any other way of gaining nutrition except for eating and drinking as other races do. They instead have structures within their bodies that perform the same functions as a human digestive system.
I’m still looking for the pitcher plant bit but I saw it somewhere.
It also just makes sense, because pitcher plants are omnivorous plants and there’s a ready-made solution for them having a stomach.

Interesting that quote.
And agreed, it would make sense to utilize, and if need be modify, already existing and working solution than to devise completely new way.
Indoodles. Which is why I believe Sylvari have sap instead of blood. Because, look at almost any plant. Then break that plant in half. What happens? It oozes sap to some degree. Sap isn’t only found in trees.
What role does sap play in a plant? It plays the role of blood in an animal.
And if you drain a plant of it’s sap, it dies. Just like an animal bleeding out.
Sylvari having sap was at both very smart, and in my opinion exceedingly clever, because it managed to set them apart from Humans/Charr/Norn/Asura in yet another way, to make them distinctive, and still gave them weaknesses/ways to die so they don’t appear to be immortal or overpowered in some way.

It was even stated somewhere directly that they have sap instead of blood, wasn’t it? No need to believe when it’s been confirmed.
Anyway, speaking of immortality, I wonder if we’ll ever find out how old can Sylvari naturally get of if it’ll remain a mystery. Even if the expansions will span across several years it’s unlikely that any Sylvari are going to die of old age unless they have very short life spans.

In my opinion it’s entirely possible that they might even get ‘old’ and then ‘die’, going to sleep, and then ‘bloom’ again, refreshed and renewed, like perennial trees/flowers do.
I’d love seeing that.

That, would be awesome. Though I wonder how exactly that would look on them since they’re combination of both plants and trees.
imagines and considers possibilities
It could be something like… their colors fade, they start to feel old, worn down. Maybe they return to the Pale Tree and are taken into a pod, where they ‘molt’ or, shed old skin/bark, and return some time later(Days? Weeks? Months?) refreshed and renewed.

Based off the Lore the Sylvari are born from a graveyard of Human corpse so giving that there body structure and such would be formed around the skeletons of dead Humans the magical plant like tissue that forms them is rather advance but they have many question in-game from asura as much as they do from players one is they are naturally resistant to the touch of a dragon(they cant be corrupted) and as far as the other races are aware only tho’s created by a elder dragon are resistant to a elder dragon.
Based off how trees and plants are they could live well into 200~ years and simple grow stiffer like older oak trees.
They do have sap as blood much like plants its even been stated in-game by a NPC that it will harden and seal the wound.
There organs are much like a humans in the form of a tree/plant a heart to pump sap lungs(much like cotton sacks) that can inhale and exhale to allow them to breath(wasn’t stated from all that I’ve read but do to being formed from the corpse of humans they use oxygen)
The asura and inquest have allot of ideas/theory’s on this and the sylvari housing and such(shown later in-game that there buildings and structures can be infused with asuran magic and technology)
As a traveling sylvari i talk to alot of npcs x.X
They don’t have hearts or heartbeats, as stated by one of the Devs, but they do have some sort of heart-like structure in them somewhere, as it’s referenced by a few Sylvari NPCs.
They also don’t have blood pressure. They bleed but it just oozes, doesn’t spurt.

Yeah, that is something I want to see to. Only from ‘old age’, obviously, but something like this would be awesome.
It’d be a -really- unique way to get old.
Though I think asgardians from Norse mythology did something similar? Or at least Odin seemed to.

I very much so like this way of thinking, and I find myself to agree with you.
…But that doesn’t mean I am one.
