So I got a 71 hours account suspension because some people get offended by non-offensive character names.
The pop-up message comes with fancy links to the Naming Policies and other related stuff. Now I do agree the names of my characters may fall into what is considered “legally reportable” according to the policies. Fine, on paper I broke the law.
However, none of my character names are actually offensive in any way. No one on earth should be offended by that and it saddens me to think that people are either offended badly enough that they cannot control themselves and feel the need to report it, or they simply report any name that could potentially get banned according to the Naming Policies, just for the sake of banning people.

This situation is not worthy of a 71 hours suspension, I know it, you know it, everybody knows it. I have absolutely no problem changing my character names to something boring and unoriginal to follow the Naming Policies and to please the narrow minded and/or griefers playing the game while I can’t.

Nothing can stop griefers since I’m pretty sure reporting is anonymous, and giving them the benefit of the doubt we all have to assume they are just easily offended people who will never get the help they need to solve their issues with insecurity and/or anxiety when faced with everyday life words in a video game.

I’m gonna spend my only two days off thinking about flowers, medieval knights, soft and passive feline animals, oddly pronounced Scandinavian references, and Stitch from Lilo & Stitch since pretty much anything too far from that will inevitably come with the risk of getting suspended again. (Edit: actually I bet Stitch is reportable as well since it must be copyrighted or something.)

PS: It would only make sense if we could just change character names on the first offense since that’s the real problem and THEN if that comes up AGAIN a suspension is well deserved.

Considering all we have to go on is your word that the names weren’t offensive and both the reporter(s) and Mod(s) word that they were…. you’re outvoted.

Not saying they are right or you are wrong, only that we don’t really know since you can’t post the offensive(?) names.

Actually he admits the names violated the rules on paper. To me that means either someone was offended or the names may have referenced a real world person he doesn’t say exactly what part of the policy on paper they would violate

Are you sure you’re not banned for in-game behavior, specifically Verbal Abuse.

Point 1 of the Guild wars Code of Conduct clearly read:

While playing Guild Wars 2, you must respect the rights of others and their rights to play and enjoy the Game. To this end, you may not defraud, harass, threaten, embarrass or cause distress and/or unwanted attention to other players. This includes posting insulting, offensive, or abusive comments about players, repeatedly sending unwanted messages, reporting players maliciously, attacking a player based on race, sexual orientation, religion, heritage, etc. Hate speech is not tolerated.

In addition, the Guild Wars 2 Conduct Breaches & Outcomes clearly state that they do not issue warnings for misconduct. The first mark, with its temporary account suspension, is considered a form of warning,

I didn’t post the names because at this point I really don’t know what kind of uncalled for situation could happen but let’s just say that the news on TV are far more disturbing than my character names.
Apparently the line that shouldn’t be crossed in GW2 is nowhere near the line in real life.

I mean some people really are called “kitten”.

The policy is clear: Guild Wars 2 User Agreement and the
Rules of Conduct
, are explained in clear language in the Conduct Breaches and Outcomes document. Familiarize yourself with them and you’ll never have another problem.

If it’s bad enough that the forum kitten’d it, it shouldn’t be in your name. Based on what you’ve said so far, I’m guessing you’re talking about ahem Richard. If that’s the case, you should have known better.
