72 Hour Name Violation Ban
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Daddy%20Fat%20Sacks
Since Daddy Fat Sacks references marijuana use and also has a sexual reference and so is forbidden by the TOS then no, they won’t cut your suspension hours. Regardless of what else you say it might mean, that’s the definition of it.
Using urban dictionary as a source of a name being bannable is kind of silly. Here are 2 reason why
If my name had “twerk” in it would I get banned? Probably not. However if you look at urban dictionary it would be banned:
“The rhythmic gyrating of the lower fleshy extremities in a lascivious manner with the intent to elicit sexual arousal or laughter in ones intended audience”
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=twerk
The artist IS CALLED Daddy Fat Sacks but Urban Dictionary states it is a term that references drugs and sex. (!warning very graphic—→) Why don’t you look up “limp bizkit” on urban dictionary? That is a band but according to that site it is something very different and lewd. Another example is this: What if my name was Wiz Khalifa….then I went to urban dictionary and looked up “khalifa”
“To take a pee and a poop at the same time.”
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=khalifa
I’m ok if my ban is not removed I’m just saying that using urban dictionary to justify what is acceptable to Anet’s TOS is quite stupid. That site takes words so out of context….
It’s also in violation of one or both of these clauses, drug references aside:
-Reference real-life people
-Reference names of copyrighted or trademarked characters, materials, or products
It’s also in violation of one or both of these clauses, drug references aside:

It’s a reference to his alias not his real life name or his name as a musical artist. I wouldn’t fear legal repercussion from Ron White if I referred to myself as “Tater-Salad”.
Thus why I linked the “copyrighted or trademarked characters”. A stage name can be considered a character, especially if it’s used consistently in the context of performances.
If it’s your first violation, you might already be able to log back in (depends how serious they found the name). If you can, I’d write a ticket to support (link at the top of every forum page) explain what happened, and ask them to look at the other name.
so you don’t think urben refernces are good enough reason for a ban so what if s name was a word begining with C that is slang for ladys parts that is not The real meaning of The word would should this be allowed then?

That is a well known slur. The character name I had selected was a reference to a muscial artist.
This post is going in a poor direction that is unrelated. Let’s call a spade a spade; NO ONE reported me because they thought my name was a reference to drugs, they reported me because they probably thought it was a reference to a ball sack. It was not. However, I can most defintely see how it may offend a person that is unaware of the meaning. And the idea that it is a reference to drugs solely comes from urban dictionary which is a stupid source of information (see the third post of the thread that was made in response to astral projections).
My main gripe is that if you google the character’s name it shows what it is truly a reference to for hundreds of pages with the exception of the urban dictionary “hit”.
On a side note the musical artist used that name in this context:
Big Boi names his next solo album Daddy Fat Sax in honor of the great service he received at White Castle http://www.tinymixtapes.com/news/big-boi-names-his-next-solo-album-daddy-fat-sax-honor-great-service-he-received-white-castle
Why it was reported is irrelevant as well as what you meant by using it. It’s a registered trademark, so it violates the naming policy.

That alone is enough to force a name change.

I think this is one of those things where Gaile will post here and explain the issue. Everything else is kind of just going back and forth in this thread.
I think naming your character after a real life “celebrity” name is also a ToC violation….so your main point (that it’s not about your junk, but about the rapper), is still a violation (tho, the use of a “nickname” could be debated, I guess).

Yeah these usually end up in arguments between jaded nerds regarding topics that may or may not be related to the initial post (which I shamelessly took part in). So I look forward to his post even though it will most likely be along the lines of “you made a stupid name as a grown man and are banned for 3 days” DealWithIt.JPG

Yeah since it is a nickname I want to get a final answer. To use a talentless artist as an example, Lil’ Wayne goes by Weezy sometimes. Would naming my character Weezy be against TOS?

User name does not = in game character name and copy righting proper names is a can of worms that many companies have opened on their own..
But be honest, you know as well as the rest of us why it was banned.
When it comes to something with multiple meanings, all meanings are taken in to account.
Just because say it means something to you, does not mean it the rest of the community will see it the same way. You can even have a name that seems perfectly harmless in your own language, but could be very offensive in another language.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluestocking
Considering it was often used to mean an unmarriageable, over-educated woman, I find it rather amusing that the linked trademark is to a vinegar company. But you see, the “bluestocking” has a common, innocent meaning. What’s the common, innocent, well-known meaning of yours?
Regardless, it’s not a copyrighted character or real person. Lady Gaga is a character, that Stephani Germanotta plays. It’s a stage persona, just like the name you chose.

I am dying to know if you’re the dude named “Cervix” that my husband saw in game yesterday. I win the bet if he posts before 2 days is up.
While we all have different opinions on the matter, the only one that counts is Anet’s. If you use a copyrighted or trademarked name/word, they would have to ask the player to change it. If a name/word has a vulgar connotation to it (regardless of what the player intended), they would have to ask the player to change it. An example is the “N” word. Some countries see that word to only mean the color black, while in the US, a racial slang is based off of it.
As for the use of Urban Dictionary, that is justifiable. Some names/words can have different meanings in pop culture. Some may not be as widely known as others, but if a player reports it, Anet has to consider it. Then it comes down to a judgement call on the Support Team.
