While I understand that accidently sending mail to a person who picks it up and sells it/salvages it/ etc etc, cannot be returned —I accidently sent mail to a beta account of a friend of mine that he will never use again because he doesn’t know the password. So the mail is there, waiting to be picked up on that account, sent by me, but cannot be retrieved. Meaning the item exists (Which is an Orichalcum Amulet that cost him around 2-3gold) and hasn’t been taken by a stranger.

My question is why can’t this be returned? I get that destroyed or sold items cannot be tracked yet, but this item is still around, on an account that won’t be used.

I am confused. I sent a ticket in and was told it cannot be returned, but all it would take is to just enter that account and resend the mail… :/

The response from the Support Team was accurate. We do not access player accounts (except in extraordinary circumstances and for specific reasons, which do not cover the area of your request).

We’re sorry that you mis-sent the mail but there isn’t a mean to correct this for you.

The only advice I can give you at this point is to take this as a gaming lesson. Learn from this and move on. Sorry for your loss. =(

This problem wouldn’t exist if mail had an expiry date on it, like other MMORPGS have. For example, send a mail to a friend, if he doesn’t pick it up in 10 days, it gets automatically returned!

That could be put in the Suggestions forum, perhaps? The ability to cancel your sent mail (or just view your sent mail and cancel it if it’s undelivered) would be nice, too.

I actually play a game where you got 30 days, and at anytime before 30 days, you can recall the mail.

Well, I don’t want to be rude to Anet or anything, but in most games support tools are very much alive and thought out before the game is released for these very issues.

Also it was a trial account, so it should no longer be in existence —or perhaps you shouldn’t be able to send mail to an account that doesn’t have a game attached to it after the trial period.

No offense but I am kind of frustrated that three months down the line and only now they are creating support tools for these situations. Besides from the dev post above it is possible to access the account and resend it (considering it will never be used again) but apparently I don’t meet the criteria… so that has me fuming more.

But a mail expiry would be a really nice thought.

I am also assuming any support tools created after this day won’t be able to get said item in the future, right?

And don’t get me wrong, I do really love Guild Wars (been playing it since beta), but this whole situation has really irked me. >.<

Agree with Eroberry. Why is the trial account still existing, or why was it not merged to the account with full game? Honestly, they way they made these trial accounts to be different from the full account once game is purchased is just asking for things like these to happen. Either merge them together or delete the trial account. The way I see it OP, it’s not fully your fault. It’s more on the other end imo.

Also agree with Eroberry about support being more thought out in other mmo’s.
