I just got banned for having a character with an inappropriate name, Ronald Mcshlongydo. I literally just made that character and didn’t realise it was a breach of the rules, I am happy to delete the character though it is only level 7 so could you please unban my account?

Sounds like you didn’t get banned but a suspension. It is the middle part of the last name I imagine earned you a vacation. You will probably just have to wait it out and consider it a lessoned learned while you think of a different and more appropriate name.

But this is my first offence and there was no warning. I feel that if it’s something as small as an inappropriate name then a warning and name change is warranted for the first offence, not a full suspension.

Your suspension is considered your second warning. This was your first warning which you agreed to when began playing GW2:

Anet made it clear quite often that using sexual body parts, slang or proper names will not be tolerated at all.

I’d try logging in again – when they are flagging a character for a rename they put the account in suspension mode (note here “Suspension” means a temporary time out, “Ban” is permanent.).

The reason why they don’t hand out warnings for first offenses is because they have learned that people will argue with them about why the name isn’t so bad and why it doesn’t need to be changed and so on and so forth. For that reason they stopped handing out warnings. When you download the game you agree to the TOS and agree that you read it. That is considered your first warning.

For the first offense on names they consider marginal, people often get a forced name change only. On names that they don’t consider marginal, they get a suspension as well. If you got a suspension then either they didn’t consider it marginal or this is not your first time.

It has been previously stated in the forums that you don’t get the 72 hour suspension on your first naming offense. Unless they have changed their policy you should be able to login and rename the character.

Not quite true. If they believe it’s vile enough, they will suspend. But yeah, 95% of the time they don’t make you suffer for 72 hours for the first offense.

Why would you even think that was a suitable name for a fantasy MMORPG ?
