So earlier today 27 May, 2014, I had opened up the game client on my pc. I saw that I couldn’t log into my own account and I knew that there was something up. I changed my password and I logged back into the game, and noticed that all of my stuff from my characters and my bank have been either salvaged or destroyed. My gold in my wallet is missing as well which sucks since it took me forever to get where I am now. Is there anyway that I could get my stuff back into my inventory and on my level 80s? I really don’t mind about not having anything in my bank I am glad that they cleared out most of it since I had no idea what to do with the little space I had. Please help! Thank you Inculpatus cedo.9234 I will try my best to get my stuff back. I just don’t see why people do such a horrible thing. I have nothing really important like a legendary or anything. :P

Unfortunately AbsolutexNinjax, there are people that play Guild Wars 2 that will buy the gold they stole from your account. So as long as there are people that will buy stolen gold, there will be people that will steal it and sell it to them.

Correct. Well, the hacker’s account is the account being restored, usually, so items and gold aren’t removed so much as replaced. And…gold and items are difficult to trace, especially say, after a few months when someone comes back from a few months’ hiatus, and discovers their account has been compromised.

While we restore many accounts a day, we also take out hacker accounts on a daily basis. When we find the hacker, we lock down the account to prevent the use of the items and gold that the hacker stole.

So yes, we look at the accounts of both hacking victims and hackers to make sure that what the thief did doesn’t have a lasting, damaging impact on the game economy.
