Hi,

So I’ve spent the best part of a month completing dailies and monthlies so that I could purchase a second ascended ring from the laurel merchant only to find that I cannot equip it. I bought Ralena’s Band last month and equipped that in my first ring slot and purchased a second this month for my second ring slot. But, it won’t let me. My guildies now tell me that I cannot equip two rings with the same name. Well why not? I have two ring slots so logically I would expect to be able to use two rings. There is no warning of any kind that I can only use one. I’m feeling rather peeved and frustrated right now that having spent so many days working to get this ring it is now useless and feel there should be some way of reversing the transaction so that at the very least I can use the laurels to purchase something I can use.

I initially thought that this was a bug so raised a support ticket with Anet but have heard nothing back.

Is there anyway that i can get a refund on this? If there is a reason that only one can be used I really don’t think that has been in anyway made clear.

They are unique items as their stats state. Unfortunately that means you can only equip one at the same time.

Wait for support to reply and make sure to also check you junk mail! But I don’t think you will get a refund, it’s best to stick with worst case, that way it can only get better.

There are options however to transmute the duplicate so you could still use it.

Thanks for the reply Sandra. Now that I’ve looked into it a little more on the wiki I can see that only one unique ring can be worn but you know how it is, this game is so complex it’s easy to miss something like that. And, having seen a few other posts on the subject I can see that I’m not alone. I’m sure it’s not in Anets interests to have players frustrated in this way so I’m hoping they can do something, or at the very least, do something to prevent other players from making the same mistake.

I can see that to infuse one of these rings is going to take a fair bit of Fractal exploration which is not something I’ve done before. I pretty much solely a WvW player.

Maybe I’ll just save up all over again.

I agree that things sometimes are just not clear.

In fact, these are the only games where I feel comfortably to just say “check out the wiki!”.

Normally the wiki (or similar) would seem like a cheat, but there is so much going on here that research is kinda like home work. And I actually like that, not knowing and having to find out.

Don’t give up yet though, like I said it can’t get worse.

This has happened a few guildies. My suggestion is to instead of ask for a refund, update your ticket to ask for a repacement ring. There is another ring, don’t know the name, that has the exact same stats but has a dufferent infusion slot type. Find the name of the ring and update the ticket.

For every member that did this they got a replacement, and told that it would only happen that one time. There were also many other threads a while ago that indicated the same results.

As an alternative, you could also infuse the ring. An Infused copy of a ring is a different item for UNIQUE tag purposes.

Rajani, yes I looked into that and I might end up going down that route. Am I right in thinking that this is going to require many trips into the Fractals of the Mists? I spent a little while in there last night for the first time and it looks like it might take me a while to get the ingredients I need.

It might. And while I don’t know how much it gives you, you can ‘salvage’ them into the other tiers if you get extras with the forge.
