Awarded wrong Item
At this moment, no there isn’t a refund for Karma points to my knowledge and double checked just now.
I’d say submit a ticket for it instead of a forum post.
Not really sure if they will or not, I would think so if it wasn’t too much work to refund.

I am working on submitting a ticket right now -I really hate their support system- Of the support tickets I have opened not one has been answered. I really like this game, but the support section is either so overwhelmed that they forget about people, or they just don’t pay that much attention.
Trust me, I’m trying to get a problem solved with them since early release and it’s been tossed around to different GMs so they just copy a wall of text that has nothing to do with my problem and call it a fix.
Just hope for the best, as I’m hoping they’ll eventually have a support line you can call to end the bad customer support reports that’re racking up against them.

I’m waiting on a ticket to get Twilight arbor tokens refunded because the Medium armor chest and gloves both have the same chest piece icon… sigh…

Why don’t they have in-game GM’s? Every other MMO I have played had them, and they were able to handle a lot of these kinds of issues.
That would be nice, rather than waiting weeks to get an automated response telling you they are looking into it….

E-mail from GW2 support: “Thanks for contacting Guild Wars 2 Support. Someone will be reviewing your ticket shortly. If you would like to add to or update your support ticket, please reply to this message or update your incident by clicking the link below. We appreciate your patience and will reply shortly.”
I hope this does not take a few weeks. . .
I definitely understand that hacked accounts or locked account issues should have priority over our issue, however it should be a quick fix to just remove the item from your inventory and replace it with the tokens you spent to buy the piece. I guess I would just like some type of confirmation from someone at Arena Net stating that this can indeed be done whether it may take days or weeks. Please give us something letting us know if there is or isn’t hope.

bump That’s all I’m asking. We shall see. I’m refreshing my support ticket ever hour, and hoping for a good response.
Items whether they are lost, stolen, or bought in error cannot be replaced at this time. Theyve already gone on record to say that. Its a feature that is coming in the future, but no ETA yet.
Can you link where they said that?
Yeah a link would be nice or a reply from someone at arena net since this has been bouncing around the first page all day….
Team Focus [ADHD]
First, please do not bump threads.
Secondly, as far as I have seen we have had no other reports of this particular issue. The last thing I want to do is appear rude or uncaring, but honestly, this sounds much more like user error than a game or account issue. If you believe it is a game issue, please post in the Bugs Forum, giving as many details as possible.
Account restorations are not designed for replacing items acquired in error, and it is highly unlikely that the service would be or will be offered for such an occurrence. To expand the service to those instances would mean that support would be inundated with requests to use a pretty complex tool — with potential game economy impact — for what, in the overall scope of things, would be considered somewhat-trivial reasons. Account restorations are undertaken, in Guild Wars, at least, only for account compromise incidents.

GaileGray,
Thank you for responding, but I have a feeling you do not believe that what I say happened, happened. What I described happening, happened, and I wish I had some proof that I carefully clicked on the shoulders that I worked hard to earn -the 42,000 Karma- to purchase them, previewed them and saw how cool I would look, and then clicked on those very shoulders only to have a pair of pants appear. It is much easier to assume that I was too eager, rushing to purchase phat lootz, than the game had a bug/glitch/lag whatever and gave me the wrong item. Let us hope that Arena Net changes its mind about offering refunds on Karma items because accidents/mistakes happen, and so do bugs and glitches. I am disappointed in your response. Maybe I will get a respectfi; one from the support site.
About a week ago someone linked a piece of gear in /map chat, and the icon clearly did not match the actual item. I think the icon was a pair of gloves, but the item description said it was pants, or something like that. So yes it is possible that Haka selected an item expecting to get shoulders but instead got pants, although the situations are different, assuming the linked item doesn’t always have to match the actual item (two different database values, for example). I did not preview the item that was linked in map chat.

That is a very interesting note, Anon, and that may shed some light on Haka’s issue. (Haka, I understand your points, thanks for sharing them!)
Unfortunately, the answer is the same — we cannot spawn items to replace the intended purchase, whether due to user error or due to a game bug. And I’m sorry about that! I will see if I can learn more about a potential bug because if there really is one, obviously we’d want to fix it.

From what I understand: although I worked really hard to get the item I wanted -once again 42,000 karma- you cannot help me, but if I could prove it was a bug, which I cannot, you would try and fix it. . . I now have a better understanding of Arena Net’s stance on issues like this. I would just like to say this: it is/was extremely hard and took a lot of time to earn all that karma, and for whatever reason I did not receive the item I purchased, yet I am out of luck. Please at least mark this down in your notes as a possible change for the future because it is really disappointing to work that hard and long, and not recieve the item you are 100% sure you thought you were buying.
Gaile, I think you would like to look at this screen
yes, i was wearing panths with an gloves icon…
tbh i think quite a few things should have you confirm what your purchacing. i have made a similar mistake before, not as drastic as the OP’s situation but when it comes to purchacing something that is/has cost alot of time to get, as in karma then confirming that you want to purchace the item with name/states etc should solve this type of issue in the future.
something like “are you sure you want to purchace [insert item name] or [insert price]?” with list of stats etc and yave 2 buttons, yes and no
I like your idea Lightvision! I have aslo been thinking that it is possible to reimburse items, but they just don’t want the hassle of dealing with it; Arena Net knows what items we have in our inventory, and knows if we destroy them/sell them and to who -I have read as much from the people who are trying to get their accounts unbanned from karma exploiting items early after release- so it should be possible for me to destroy the item, and then have them send me the 42,000 in the mail. It’s not a perfect solution, but because they do have issues with item images, item purchases, or whatever happened. . . It is possible to help out those people who come across this issue such as I have.
I too received a pair of pants that looked like gloves, twice actually. I tried my best to file an in-game bug report, but it was rather hard to take a screenshot of the mouse-over using the in-game bug reporting screenshot tool.
Personally Id love to see the ability to sell karma items back within say 1 hour of buying them or something like that.
It doesn’t matter if it was a legit bug or not the fact still remains that they can’t replace any items, karma, tokens or characters period because they were not fully prepared for the launch of this game and still aren’t. Hopefully these features will be available in the future.

This would solve 100% of the problem. Need to deposit this one into their suggestion box.
Not that I want to throw fuel on this fire, but I do want to see this game and it’s support system get better. In another, very popular MMO, I completed a difficult quest and chose a reward item. I realized afterwards that I should have picked another item offered from the quest. I submitted a ticket to the GM, admitting I had simply chosen the wrong reward and asked politely if I could switch it. In a few hours I received a response; the old item was gone, and the new item was in the mail. I know this game does not have a subscription fee, but the support staff SHOULD be given the tools to access the player action database and reverse certain actions. Although, in this particular example, the 1 hour refund window would be amazing. Especially on soulbound karma/dungeon items. The more options players have to resolve their problems, the less support is required by ArenaNet.
I am really enjoying this game. The more improvements I see, the more gems I’m gonna buy
Honestly, the customer support on this game is terrible and will lose them a lot of loyal, dedicated, or even new players. As stated before, many other MMO’s have decent in game support that at least pretend to care. I love this game, but this service is embarrassing. There are simple solutions to resolve these kinds of issues posted, and I’m not sure what the problem is with resolving these. Understaffed? Bring in more people to help. Like I’ve seen other express in different threads/issues it feels as though they got us to buy the game, now they can care less about customer satisfaction…
/End rant. Lol

I am starting to feel the same way. The support staff contacted me over the issue, and stated that they would like to fix this issue they just don’t have a way to. That is a really sorry excuse. I would think that in order to assist customers Arena Net would be trying to actively fix issues and complaints, not say sorry and call it a day. Starting to feel like because they got my money, they no longer care to provide support.
