My account was just banned for 74 hours or somethin like that for an abusive name or somethin. I was lead to believe you’d get a warning or be asked to change your name before it led to banning and i would’ve deleted my toon if it had been requested. Just saying it’s a little hasty and kinda just stupid in my opinion to take such drastic measure’s into play for a simple name change.

Sounds like you were intentionally testing the system.

You get a forced name change if it’s mild enough. You get a forced name change and a 72 hour suspension if it’s severe. They don’t give warnings because people just argue with them about it, so the TOS is all the warning that is given.

So you knew it was an abusive name… Read the conditions and stuff first next time before trying a name you know is abusive but thing ‘maybe they will not notice’.

You did get a warning.
It popped up when you started the game the first time.

That is not true. Please do not post false information like that. There are enough problems with players getting suspended and getting upset over it without feeding the fire.

Can you point out where Gail says you will get a life time ban for your second offense?

ok, so i did get unbanned and i just had to change my name as i though in the first place. And it did sound like it was intentionally trying to get my accound infracted but my name was “Long Black Bob” which i just find humorous and i knew if a Anet member saw that i would be forced to change it but i did not know i would get such a hasty punishment. Thank you Anet for removing the suspension though.

Here in NZ a “long black” is a black coffee without everything.
I guess it can have some associations to other things, but it doesn’t have to. ^^

I admit to being a little disappointed. I was expecting a name that was a more…… dirty, shall we say. It’s always amusing when someone posts a truly offensive name then tries to defend it and people explain why the OP has no common sense. Long Black Bob was at worse, marginal. A renaming at the most. A ban was excessive.

I’d just argue back saying Poobadoo is an offensive name and he should be banned from the game or they should change his name – just as offensive than Long Black Bob… two known references to excrement rather than a possibly implied reference to something that could be offensive.

Sounds like you were intentionally testing the system.

This doesn’t mean he was aware that his name was offensive…. more likely he was aware that others had been given warnings for offensive names…

You don’t really instill much confidence in people. “Hello I’m the builder, I can do the work for a few thousand or something like that and I’ll finish next month or something”. Yeah oh yeah please yes come on in..start right away. lol

It seems like the process they go through, or most of the GMs go through anyway, involves suspending your account, hitting the character with the forced name change, then un-suspending your account.
