Ok…im writing this message now to inform the other players affected that i happily got my account back after a day of no-playing…so don’t lose hope guys!!! thanks to all players who initiated this and ask for the support people’s help, of course now that i’m a happy norn again i wish you guys could have more patience with this matter…if it is clear that there’s no issue you’d get your account back…although i know the feeling at first which is depressing. JUST BE PATIENT….“coz it’s a talent” and thanks to arenanet for the quick fix…and lastly, I’m still waiting for the reason how and why it happened coz it’s really really scary…if this was a mad king post-halloween trick then it definitely got me….!
Grats dude, and fingers crossed. An explanation would be nice I agree. It’s been nearly 4 hours now and no response from them for me.

I’m not really sure how they deal with it, but I think having an appropriate topic when you submit your support ticket must help. I’m on day three now, but others have had there problems fixed faster.
Anyways, don’t give up hope.
have you update your incident frequently?
It could be possible that they handle the queue by the last update of an incident ==> when you update, you move your incident to the end of the queue.
I think I have to wait longer for an answer because I called my incident as blocked/suspended that was the first message I got from the game that my account got suspended of bad behavior. After trying to login again I got the typical message my account was terminated due to botting. I’m now afraid to update my incident to give the support the message which I get now.
And my account is restored. Only took just over 24 hours, very fast and efficient. Good luck everyone I hope your ban is as painless and temporary as mine.

I don’t know if it’s just me, but a 24 hour exclusion from the game is not “painless”. It’s kind of annoying, especially when the person excluded has not done anything wrong and was looking forward to spending time with their mates.

I don’t know if it’s just me, but a 24 hour exclusion from the game is not “painless”. It’s kind of annoying, especially when the person excluded has not done anything wrong and was looking forward to spending time with their mates.
It was painless for me because it occurred from 9PM to 11PM the next day. Between that time, I slept, went to lectures, did some work, played hockey and watched a film. If I had my account during that time I would have played for sure but being without it for a day was painless for me. I am just hoping that others have a similar experience to myself with this bad situation.

I was terminated yesterday 11/6/12. It said that i was botting or macro’ing. Which is BULL! I have only been playing the game for 2 days and did not understand the auto attack game mechanic. I’m playing a ranger and I just got a short bow and so i was thinking if i just button mash 1 i will do way more damage! MUAHHA. So that’s what i did. Next thing I know i have a black screen, and restart my client and im perma banned! O_O I filed a petition and i hope it is solved soon.

I don’t think button mashing is a valid measure of identifying a bot.
by default, your primary attack #1 is set to auto cycle.
but if you read the game mechanic messages, you can actually re assign the auto cycle to a different button say #2 will now auto attack/cycle which will now have you mash #1

Same here mate, hang in there I think they are dealing with it. I have read that it can take up to 24 hours to sort it out, there are probably lots of tickets on the same topic at the moment. Something to do with a mass bot-ban. I’m not sure why you have been mis-identified as a botter, the same has happened to me. I am wondering whether it has something to do with the mouse and keyboard I use, both of which have the capability to record macros (pressing one key and sending more than one keystroke), but I do not use either of these facilities in GW2, as I am aware from the terms of use that such macros are not allowed. I always press one key for one action in-game, like everyone else.
My suspicion is that their bot-detection software has the capability to scan for the software that gets installed with the mouse/keyboard, and treats that as a positive macro ID. This is the only thing that I can think of after hours of pondering on this problem. It may then be that they automatically ban you and wait for you to make an appeal via the support system, expecting that anyone who has actually been using macros would hold their hands up and accept the ban, as it were.

Didn’t the response include any information about what this “illegal third-party program” actually is? I’m starting to wonder whether they are banning people for having certain keyboard/mouse manufacturer’s software installed on their systems that people may inadvertently be activating whilst using their keyboards/mice.

Main problem is, with out proper responses as what actually flagged our accounts (Non Botters) we are left to speculate as to the cause.
Trying to figure out how or why will never measure to the real reason as to how we have gotten labeled.

@Kieser Soze I guess we might never find out the reason, because it might be information they don’t want the bot makers to find out. If ANet determine that the factors that have wrongly identified us as botters are in need of change, they will probably change their systems. If not, then this will only happen again.

Yea, you are probably right. Anyhow, banning all people who don’t use a bog-standard keyboard/mouse combination would be a pretty bad business model.

That’s a really bad response then. They should provide him with the evidence. It is also unreasonable for them to be able to label any third party application “illegal” under the terms of use without specifying what kind of application it is he has been using, its identity on his system, etc.
He has agreed, as have we all, to allow GW2 to analyse our systems and the software running on them. It is within their capability to tell him what this software is they are referring to. This does not seem like fair treatment, regardless of whether he is innocent or not.

I have this strange feeling right now of being on an aeroplane, on a really long-haul flight. When I land, the account ban will be lifted and all will be back to normal. I just hope that the plane doesn’t crash and that they don’t send me that message your friend received.

Im starting to be really worried. The only programs that i run while playing is Internet explorer, Firefox, Google Chrome, Bitdefender, Nvidea control panel, Calculator and Notepad.
I use bitdefender total security since 1 year and never had a problem. When i started GW2, sometimes GW2 was giving me errors that was talking about my firewall.
When i farm karma, happens to me to open a movie in a streaming site on “mixturecloud”. Can this be seen as a third program?

Yeah you are right there. They may had have issues every once in awhile. But I never minded calling in when I needed to. The staff was fast and friendly and did their best to assist you. You could tell that they were gamers.

Yeah I had to call Blizzard once when I played world of Warcraft, my account was all messed up with something after i moved. I am still not entirely sure what the problem was with the account but Once I called Tech Support for them. It was like I needed a heart transplant they kept me on the line for about 15 mins and sorted everything out for me. Obviously Arena Net is dealing with alot of things at the moment. Though personally i feel they should put their customers before wanting to rack up bot banning numbers they should be a little more careful who they ban. It seems like what ever program they are using or person is getting happy with the ban hammer. But seeing Teldec V.6203 post about getting his back after 2 days gives me hope that I’ll get mine back haha. I guess with all this spare time… I’ll clean my room?

I doesn’t think it will be help you and others to create or start new incidences. They will be just handled us duplicates…. thats means the support has to set them on duplicate and to close them, this takes time too …
They (Arenanet) say, they want a game which makes fun this one of the important point for them to create a game. But sorry after that to get your account terminated for just playing and annoying it, it would be not make fun anymore to play it like before. Nobody know what they did wrong by just playing the game how do you can believe or think the guys can annoy the game further? Ah forgot is just a small amount of account which got terminated by an error! After your 5th banning wave/list it is not anymore a small amount….
If we should get back our accounts, we have to be afraid that maybe after the next corner you cross the ban hammer is waiting….. thats not fun after all!

I have at least 50 people on Seferer rest Oscure Brotherhood uild who can prove, assure and testify I’m not a bot, i have a lev 80 ranger now resting, while i play my 53 mesmer mainly in wvwvwv, for the cursed shore thing’ i read here from someone else, i’ve been there with ranger 2 or 3 times while trying to complete area’s points and tried to complete public quest too, seemed to me buggy at first glance, but went there 2 more times to see if i could complete, never spent more than 20 min or 30 there killing mobs.
It’s about 1 day now I0m banned, and 14 hours from Ticket to C.service.
Would like to play tonight when i come back home from work, as i didn’t break rules of conduct, i buyed seriale from arenanet official store and just looking into my 2 chars u can’t find for sure something that could make me thing as a boot or as a cheater.

So my guess, by te fact that im sure i dont use any kind of macro or bot program, is they violated their rules, ‘cause it’s unbelieveable that so many people are banned permanently for automatic checks and the further individual and more accurate check is done only in a second momento after opening a ticket.
Should Arenanet change statements? or Just Punish itself?

That sounds very close to what I have went through, My ranger I leveled from level 73ish to 80 in the cursed shores and ended up banned when i started a new charater quite depressing when you pay for a game, play it fairly and then you end up being treated like a rule breaker. I honestly think that it has alot to do with the Cursed Shore are on the map. From what I’ve gathered there are bots galore there and it “SEEMS” like A net is just scooping people up at random and banning them for being there too long. God forbid the day Queen’s Dale get’s hit with a few bots…. No more human charters, A friend of Mine told me if you unknowingly do an event where a bot is near, then you can get banned for assisting a bot. So while you’re out there leveling just remember Veteran and Boss Mobs aren’t the only thing you need to be afraid of. Bot’s and the Ban hammer will strike you down just as fast for less of a cause. A problem I am sure A Net is going to be fixing super soon seeing as how many problems and people they are having lately. I just received an email from them saying they are reviewing my account. I can’t wait to be back in the game and with this new found knowledge I will avoid Orr until I am sure the problem is fixed.

My account is banned too and im waiting for my ticket-response as many ppl here. Im not a new mmo gamer and i know the rules and respect them of course. I bought the game in one of the greatest real game store of my country, so i dont think that my code is false. With this machine and this configuration im played GW1 and AION as well, for years without any problem, so i dont think that my windows services or anythig else is false-detected as thirdy party program. GW2 need a machine from the 25th century for the best graphic performances, but with input devices from the 18th century or you will be banned.. ok accepted. Im sure, that the bots dont like any competition, so if you are near a bot horde, im pretty sure that you will be reported for something from each bot. And of course the bots are occupying the best farming spots too, so you must go to farm to the worse farming spots or you will be reported from this bots and finally you will be banned. Even if you are near the bots, real ppl can think that you are also a bot so im pretty sure that you will be banned shortly. I saw a lvl25-28 bot horde on the lvl70-80 map killing mobs wihout problems. I hate bots so I lure some mobs more there hoping that more mobs will kill them but the bots just killed the lured mobs too… pff…. no hope..map travel for try to farm in another spot. Ok lets farming.. and after 2 mins of farming i got the “banned” message. I almost needed a heart transplantation and a bag of ice to my head in this moment. Whats now? ticket and waiting… pff. The worse is that what can i do if (in the best case) i can get back my account? Because I have no any information WHY is my account banned.. and playing as before the bann is the right line to the next false-positive bann…. …But sorry after that to get your account terminated for just playing and annoying it, it would be not make fun anymore to play it like before. Nobody know what they did wrong by just playing the game how do you can believe or think the guys can annoy the game further? Ah forgot is just a small amount of account which got terminated by an error! After your 5th banning wave/list it is not anymore a small amount….
If we should get back our accounts, we have to be afraid that maybe after the next corner you cross the ban hammer is waiting….. thats not fun after all!
