My husband and I were with a guild group killing Karka for the new boxes and suddenly his account was banned for “botting”. It says the account is now terminated. He’s working on a ticket as well, but I thought since I can still access the forums I’d post about this potential major problem. You may want to check your bot algorithms to make sure people who are legitimately playing and trying to get your new items aren’t accidental triggering the ‘bot ban’. All I can think is since we talk over voice and not typing it may have been the trigger? Please help! Myself and the entire guild has sent in tickets at this point with petitions to get him back in the game. If nothing else please fix this so it doesn’t happen to others.

Are you using any third party programs for keybinds/macros? I’m not being accusatory but that can be a problem for some players.

Well unfortunately your best bet since you submitted a ticket already is to wait for a response.

I hope you get it resolved so you can continue to enjoy GW2 with your significant other.

Jingirl, I had the exact thing happen to my account while I was out PVEing too. It really is frustrating. Anyway, after much fretting during the wait for a reply, I finally got answer back from support. In my case it turned out that someone had gotten hold of the name of my email address linked to my game account and had been password guessing on it in the game client. So they had apparently locked my account down with a random ban message to keep it secure. Support reset my password and unblocked the account.

I hope that you get your issue resolved soon too.

Thanks Parvati for your reply, it gives me hope. The stonewall and “false positives are rare” are making us nervous. We love this game and have spend a good amount of time (legendary weapon/fractal advancements) and actual money(vanity pets etc…) and to lose all of that at this point would be a real slap in the face.

Yeah Jinxgirl, you have point out potential problems. I agree that, seriously.

3 days ago, my account has blocked by Anet’s ANTI-BOT algorithm. When I was blocked, just afk for eating dinner. And 2 hours before, I running fractal with my guildies and friend. An interesting point, me and 2 guildies was blocked at the same time, same reason. Now, my account restore from 3-days protest to Anet’s GM.

I even came back Log-in from moment, another guildie was blocked by botting lol. When he blocked mement, he just running Arah.

Why do we gotta suffer of these?

Hi Gray, i hope u understand the frustration of being accuse of something we did not do, and got banned for days, if not permanent. I was temp banned twice but was unbanned. Both bans was 3 days and the ban eclipsed even before the team managed to reply with a review.

You says we “assume”, of course we will. Like the OP have stated, we are just farming. What do u expected in our key press or key movement to be different from those bots? 1 to 0 for skill and QWEASD for movement. What else can a bot press and a human player dun? There is such a high chance that we as a player will fall into your detection.

Although we do eventually get unbanned, but the fact is that we do get wrongly banned. But i know u guys will still insist you r right and we r wrong. Its like tell us, hey i (anet) know u (players) cheat but i am nice and i give u a chance.

I can see where u r coming from. In yr office u deal with 1000s of botting accounts everyday, but from the players’ view, they have lost truthful friends to your detection.

Sorry, but the fact that I have already been banned twice in 6 months for doing nothing more then playing the game says otherwise. There are tons of issues with this and it’s frustrating to hear the moderation trying to minimize the issue and make it sound like it’s such a rare occurrence.

This obviously is not a major problem or we would have had hundreds or thousands of tickets — we do not — and dozens upon dozens of forum posts — which we also do not.

I’m sure you have quite a few more tickets then you say you do because this issue is common. As for forum posts, the only reason you don’t have tons of these is that when you bot ban someone it deactivates their forum account. People who have been banned for botting cannot post here hence the ‘low number of posts.’

Please await assistance from the team. If you need help after three days — and tickets are generally answered within hours — please use the thread above to let me know.

Luckily, the support team is pretty fast on these because these issues cannot be posted to the thread you have pointed out. Like I said before, these people cannot post on the forum because for some reason you also remove their forum access.

Lets stop making this sound like it’s such a small problem and actually address it. Right now I honestly feel like anything I do will get me banned, I’m afraid to even try to play this game anymore. It’s insane that there are items in this game that require 250 of a Tier 6 Mat but at the same time Grinding is a bannable offense. And before you say that Grinding isn’t a bannable offense, I have 2 bans that say otherwise.

I do however, want to thank you for taking the time that you do to respond to issues on this forum. I hope you understand I don’t blame you personally, I’m just frustrated and angry that this keeps happening to me.
