Can I get an Account Restoration
Unfortunately, user mistakes are rarely reversed. An account restoration is only offered to compromised accounts. Sorry for your loss.
Do guild banks work differently than personal banks? When I have my bank open and I double-click, the item just goes into my bags. And vice versa.

That’s what I thought as well but as it turned out, it isn’t. I swear you have no idea on how I felt in that just 1 second when I double clicked my 2 dyes.
That’s why I want an account restoration, it just ain’t fair that something this stupid had to occur. And for what?? All because they don’t have a warning to ask if you want to use this dye or don’t have the same kind of depositing mechanic for personal banks as compared to guild banks.

I’ve never used my guild bank. Totally not something I would have known!
Anet does not undo player mistakes. Please understand that making threads like this, or filing a Support Ticket for frivolous requests only add to the queue for players with real problems. I would suggest you be more careful in the future.
So there isn’t any confirmation button for a fairly expensive item like this?

Some things become so instinctive you don’t remember how they work. I don’t think there is a confirmation for the use of dyes, no, but rather that they have a double-click-to-use functionality.
I believe it would be nearly impossible to set a bar for the “expensive” dyes and require confirmation, because the value of the dyes rises and falls (and the determination of what should be in that category is pretty subjective). Developing a way to require confirmation for a certain type of dye, and then leave the “common” dyes without a confirmation, seems a challenging design task. The alternative is that each and every dye would require a double click and then a confirmation, and that seems undesirable.

Actually it isn’t.
Just bring up a confirmation for dyes that are already specified as “Rare” quality and have yellow text.
Dyes are already in common, uncommon and rare tiers.
I’d have to say this seems like something incredibly low priority but potentially simple to implement.
Except that some rare dyes are pretty cheap and some uncommon dyes are expensive. The point is that no matter what system they use, someone is going to be kittened because either the expensive dye they bought isn’t “rare enough” for confirmation, or the cheap dye they bought is.
Look at salvaging, it was a pain to salvage greens because you had to go through extra clicks so most people vendored them. Now that there’s a point to it they removed the confirmation because players aren’t going to sit there and salvage 10,000 greens while clicking “yes” every time. Someone is going to salvage something by mistake because of it, but for the majority it makes the process easier.

I agree with this, and that is the difficulty of trying to flag “rare” or “expensive” or “don’t let me use this by mistake!”

Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t it simply a matter of comparing a dye’s store value, trading post highest buy order and possibly the drop percentage with a certain threshold, thus determining the item’s potential worth?
You could even go the extra mile and give the player the power to edit their individual threshold.

That’s a very complicated situation, and no it doesn’t solve the problem.
Say they introduce a new color – Tequatl Blue. Tblue is extremely rare and you bought one from the TP for 150 gold. A week later the devs realize that the drop rate was bugged and it was supposed to be a “blue” drop. The price drops to 1s. Then they discontinue the dye and a year later the value is 15 gold.
What is the value of the item? Depending on when you move it from your character to the bank, it may or may not be valuable enough to confirm use. If you accidentally use it when it’s “worth” 1s there’s no confirmation, but it cost you 150 gold, so you believe it’s worth more.
This is simply an all/nothing issue. Anet cannot hold your hand or read your mind and stop you from using your precious chainsword skin or F&F dyes when you should be saving them instead. At some point you must accept responsibility for making a mistake.

Why should the Devs program complicated algorithms into the game to save the 1 or 2 people who don’t take care in selecting an action?
The best solution to this is to be careful. There are people who still make mistakes with confirmations in place (i.e. wrong server transfers, high level salvaging, etc). Salvaged the wrong item or deleted that rare tonic? “Sorry for your loss, please take better care in the future.” is the line I would copy and paste to those people.

Dismissing for a minute that if the value were to drop that low you could trivially purchase another one off the trading post, the symbolic worth has nothing to do with it’s factual worth. The loss of money in your scenario should be attributed to the initial bad investment, not to the lack of a warning later on when you decided to be reckless.

It is largely irrelevant if they should or shouldn’t implement it when we are debating the mechanics of a hypothetical addition to the game.

The numbers were not meant to be an actual example but rather to imply that something that is very expensive because of a bug (Final Rest) can become very cheap but that doesn’t take the money that was spent on it out of the issue. To the player the dye he bought for 150 gold is worth 150 gold regardless of its assigned value.
People complain about this sort of thing often. I’ve done it myself. Anet is not responsible for the players’ carelessness.

This is absolutely true.
I guess it is possible that in this instance, Support MIGHT consider the roll-back due to the double click mechanic of the Guild Bank working differently than Account Bank (I am assuming this is the case….have not tested it myself). Keep in mind that they are NOT going to give you back the dyes, just roll back your ENTIRE account to before you used the dye and that is going to make everything you have done on the account since then destroyed. If you have done a lot, you may want to reconsider the request.

Yip,
I think everything that should be said here has been said. The discussion wether or not it is or is not possible to make a feature that prevents autoclicking expensive dyes, doesn’t belong here.
If the OP wants to make a suggestion out of this, please feel free to do so in the suggestions section of the forum. If I see it there I’m happy to share my thoughts bout such a suggestion.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
I accidentally double-clicked a Deep Glacial Teal Dye that I meant to sell when the price spiked (they got up to 86g). I decided to make the best of it though, and I’ve been wearing it as the base color on my armor ever since.
I’m just glad they added buyback to merchants so we don’t accidentally sell expensive items.

As stated several days ago, account restorations are for compromised (hacked) accounts only. If you’d like to discuss suggestions for how dyes work, please feel free to post in the Suggestions Forum. Thanks.
