Yeah right, no computer…are u posting from a potato?!
U cant “unregister” the game, nor to change the account’s email address. And I guess it is made on purpose, to prevent account selling.

No need for you to be rude. He could be posting from a phone, an ipad, or any other number of ways. I would suggest that if you cannot answer a question in an honest, polite manner, you refrain from answering and let Gail or another poster answer it.

I’m sorry, but you cannot give, sell, trade, or in any other way pass along the game to someone else. Most families with computers do replace them, even if it takes a bit of time. I suggest you hold onto Guild Wars 2 and rejoin when you are able to do so in the future. Alternately, if you have a friend who would allow you to do so, you could install the game on a friend’s computer and play from there. But that’s really as far as you’re allowed to go.

We cannot “unregister” an account; we will not allow someone else to re-register a used account. And if you wonder why, we don’t charge a monthly fee and the way we make money is through purchase of the game and purchase of items that we sell. If every account is “passed along” we’ll not make enough money to continue to support the game, to expand it, to build new games, to, well, keep the lights on! That’s why we’re stringent about disallowing re-use of an existing serial code or game.

Is that legal? AFAIK, when you buy something, you have certain rights to it under the law, and these rights supercede any purchasing agreement or TOS. This includes the right to re-sell a purchased good.

If this weren’t the case, companies would just declare all their products as un-re-sellable.

downed state is bad for PVP

It is legal you can’t just sell an apple you just consumed can you….. when you buy the product you have purchased it. when you register you have consumed your purchase, it is now consumed.

To expand you can buy the game take that game and give, sell it to a friend. This is how Gamestop can sell you the game. When you take the game and register it under your name that code for the product is now consumed no longer available to sell but continues to grant you access, this is the same as buying a bus pass you can’t buy a buss pass ride the buss then give the pass to someone else.

I wonder wether GW2 maybe is not really good for PCs… it’s already the third case I hear from (someone in my neighbourhood and I myself lost a gaming PC short time after installing GW2).

You really should read the EULA that comes with software you purchase. You will note that although you are buying the media (e.g. the physical DVD if there is one) you only license the right to use the software. This is much the same as music – just because you “buy” a song it doesn’t give you ownership of that song. Otherwise you could just let anyone listen to it and look how well that worked out for Napster.

No but what if you buy the apple, and dont eat it? does that mean you cant resell it? no it means it is your apple and yes you can resell it. back to your eaten apple, yes you can sell it. its your and if you find a fool to buy it, so be it.
now on the other side. you may have bought the game, but you dont own the account or the ability to log on, Anet owns this. so yes by law you can sell the game but the account is locked to you and only you(also the law on this is different in each area)

My computers motherboard got “static shock” apparently!

I wonder wether GW2 maybe is not really good for PCs… it’s already the third case I hear from (someone in my neighbourhood and I myself lost a gaming PC short time after installing GW2).

GW2 is not breaking computers. The only plausible situation where it could be a factor is a computer with a compromised cooling system (due to excessive dust or a fan failure or maybe a loose heatsink).

Even then, most computers will shut off before reaching damaging temperatures and there is nothing GW2 could do that any other demanding (heat generating) software couldn’t do.

I’d chalk it up to coincidence.

It could be that he/she doesn’t have a very good computer or some fault in the OS or bios. That the computer doesn’t shut down when getting high temperture. So the heat becomes too great and bam broken.
I’ve experienced something similar with GW1. I went on and played it one day. got in to a loading screen, screen got completly black and nothing happend, so I restarted the computer and I got bluescreened like all the time i got to the log in screen. It turned out that a ram memory “card” broke, funny thing huh?

You can sell the physical game discs/box etc for sure but you cannot pass on the account. When you create/open the account you agree to those terms. Generally people don’t sell MMO game discs tho since they are useless without a new account along with them. They set the rules for the world they host online and can stipulate anything they want regarding access to that online world.

My homeworld is Blackgate.
I am a GW2 player in New Zealand.
Check me out on the GW2 wiki.
