Guild Wars 2

I bought this game so I could play online with some friends. My friends play on the server called Blackgate, yet I can’t create a character there. Will I be able to play with my friends or did I buy a game that’s useless to me? I have 0 characters and am more than willing to grind up a character to level 80.

Blackgate is one of the servers that is extremely full. I’m very surprised your friends didn’t tell you this. You can’t create characters on a full server. If you aren’t looking to play with them in wvw, you can create on a different server, and you guys can just guest onto either blackgate, or they can guest onto your server and play together.

If you are looking to play in WvW with them, then you’ll have to wait until you can a time when the server has an open spot, OR you can create a character now and pay to transfer later on. Those are your options.

You don’t even need to guest in most cases anymore.

Megaserver system prioritizes those in party and friends list when choosing a server shard to join.

No need to guest. If you are partied up with someone, which you can do across each region’s servers, and if you don’t land on the same map shard, then all you need to do is click on their party portrait and join them. No guesting needed. (You do need to be on the same map for this to work).
