My sister says it worked on her computer, but I’m sure this process could be improved.
In general, only poorly designed webpages have problems on my computer.
That makes sense. It works on your sister’s computer. It works on everyone else’s computer. It doesn’t work on yours. Therefore it must be the web page and not your computer. Sounds perfectly logical to me.
Or just maybe it was your computer/connection.
Why do you feel the need to troll on a support forum? I’m reporting a technical problem, and complaining that it’s a confusing mess. I don’t really want anyone’s opinion on why they think it didn’t work when they have even less information than myself.
It’s far too complicated to purchase and attach a serial to an existing account. The process involves 3 or more subdomains of guildwars2.com
Some of the forms you get sent to are misleadingly titled, so you can never be sure that you’ve arrived at the right place. What happens if you accidentally create a new account with that serial? You’re probably screwed. Why do you have to fill in your contact info again at the end? Why do you receive a “thanks for registering” email after that? It doesn’t make any sense.
I can’t try it again now since it’s successfully linked, but your logic is flawed. It could have been a temporary problem that was fixed shortly after I gave up. Even if it IS my computer, it’s not the “computer” or “connection”, but the web browser, plugins, firewall, antivirus, security settings, or something similar. Or possibly malware. It really sounds like it cannot read a cookie, or the session was being reset. I don’t know. Someone at arenanet can probably figure out from the error message, if they even care.
For the record, I tried in IE10 / latest firefox, no firewall/antivirus. Roboform + lastpass browser extensions are probably the only things running that could have messed it up. Fact is that it didn’t work, and it’s not “just me”. I didn’t write my own web browser or the firmware on my router. It’s probably the web page doing something stupid, and probably lots of people have similar web browser configurations to myself.

If you feel there is a problem with the webpage(s), you should post your concerns in the Forum and Website Bugs sub-forum, as that would not be an Account issue. Good luck.
I did, actually. A moderator moved it here. I’m not sure where the problem lies, but I don’t need any help. I just feel better after venting my frustrations. Hopefully some improvements can be made that benefit others, or at least google will now point them here if they get the same error. The only other reference to this error I could find is on a chinese forum, and I didn’t bother to translate it.
