They ask that you not make a ticket and then make a thread. The people who work in support don’t read the forums, they are at work reading tickets. They also ask you to give them enough time to work on it, up to 3 days, before posting.

I understand that, however, being basically locked out of a character, a main character at that, is quite annoying and prevents actually playing the game. I’m just going for maximum visibility for what should really be a quick fix.

Well, good luck with it and I can understand bring impatient and wanting results. However support doesn’t read the forums and Gaile Gray who does has expressly asked for people not to make a ticket and then make a thread. She mostly gets involved with tickets over 3 days old and tickets that require special attention after support has worked on them.
Some people may see your name as trying to circumvent the filter. It does bring a certain phrase to mind.
I am sure CS will handle your concern in the manner it deserves. Good luck.
The game doesn’t have a smart bot that scans players names for inappropriateness.
Players had to report you for it.
They then look at your name and figure out if it breaks a rule or not. Since the first word of your name is curse and the last is you, they figured you were bypassing the censor.
So the chances of it being reversed is likely slim.

That, makes no sense.
I was abruptly kicked out of the game, then unable to get back in. If there was an actual person doing an inquiry, I’d expect to have been sent some form of notification at least after the fact.
Also, audio dialogue and text matching my character’s name exactly can be found multiple times within the game. If my character’s name is unacceptable, then that audio dialogue and text shouldn’t be there.

They likely have to have the character not being played to put in the name change thing.
Your notice that they did an inquiry was your notice to change your name.
In game in context to specific things, I would imagine. Your name could have any kind of context. Players are not mind readers. Someone could think that you literally want to curse them.
Players reported you. ANet investigated. ANet decided your name was against the naming policy and have told you to change it.
You can’t seriously think that it wouldn’t be possible for someone to insert a particular curse word instead of Curse in your name. Hence why it’s against the rules as bypass the censor. Whether or not you intended that is not the issue. If that was the case, everyone who did intentionally bypass the censor could just claim that it wasn’t their intent to do so.
I can think of a couple of curse words that would fit and are considered derogatory when used towards someone.

If you try hard enough, any combination of words could be “considered derogatory”.
The fact remains that the word “Curse” is used multiple times throughout the game, and the exact phrase “curse you”, is used, at least once, by an enemy NPC (Gaheron Baelfire to be exact) and could also, as you suggest, be “considered derogatory”.
If someone is truly offended by just the idea of “curses”, they probably shouldn’t be playing a game with Necromancers, an entire profession based largely around such a concept as well as resurrecting the dead, another taboo thing.

my account just has been blocked because my char was called “pooo in my pants”

I like the fact that people don’t have a problem with running around with swords, axes and hammers trying to kill each other and animals but draw the line at the word “poo” that’s just a step too far.
