Characters Deleted by Roommate
ANet only gives account restoration to hacked accounts. Ones that were accessed from a different location. If he used your computer they can’t tell the difference between you deleting characters and then regretting it and him deleting characters.
It may be a case of closing the barn door after the horse is gone, but you need to remove the ‘remember my password’ feature on it. (Or how did he get access to your account?)
You can always try support (I see that you did) but I wouldn’t get my hopes up if I was you.

Is your roommate 8 years old? What a jerk, man.
Recommendation – do you have a smartphone?
The game uses Google Auth – I’d recommend starting that up ASAP regardless of what happens. There are also, I believe, ways to get tokens that can work with the Google Auth program if you don’t have a capable smartphone.
You need to get away from that roommate. No telling what else he or she will do. That’s pretty rotten.
Of course, unless your roommate confessed to it (in which case you need a new roommate) it’s possible you were hacked. In that case you can ask for and get an account restoration. While you are waiting for support to contact you, it would be best if you ran a full security sweep of your computer.
You are not suppose to let anyone else have access to your account.
Thank you everyone for your advice. Unfortunately, support has said pretty definitively that I won’t be getting my characters back. The roommate has been kicked out of the apartment, but chances are I am also going to be losing the apartment too. If I do go back to playing GW2, I will definitely be keeping the security measures you have suggested in mind. I think the biggest blow is the fact that I won’t have any way to get back all of the exclusive skins that I spent so long working for.
Yah, bad all around. Figure out how he did it and go from there when tightening up security. At least you only lost intangible items and got rid of him before he stole real stuff.
Better luck in game.
My apologies! I posted the absolute WRONG response in this thread.
I am very sorry about your roommate situation. It seems so mean, especially from someone under the same roof.

Isn’t there a rollback system for just such situations?
Isn’t there a rollback system for just such situations?
I think that is in the event of an account that was proven to be hacked. In the OPs case a roommate did it which isn’t considered being hacked. Additionally it would be difficult to prove that the OP didn’t /rage quit and then have remorse latter on or delete them all to move to a different server and then change their mind. I’m not saying this is the case but it could be something others would do.

Account Restorations are intended for accounts compromised by unknown third parties. We don’t offer “roll-backs” for other types of account issues attributed by a player to a compromise incident because it’s not possible for us to ascertain that the account truly was compromised, and was not shared, resold, or given away.
I don’t intend to suggest that the OP is making misleading statements, but the fact is that two people could collude to “hack” one account, then get a re-roll that essentially duplicates all the items on the account. Restoring accounts can have a damaging effect on the game economy, in such cases, so we focus on restoring account hacked, for the most part, by RMTs.
