I don’t understand this quote from an earlier topic.
“Selling any in-game item — weapon, material, gold — is disallowed.”

Does that mean selling in-game items for real money? Or is it disallowed to
1. sell a guildie some ori for gold?
2. What about bartering?
3. And sending them mats to craft you something?
4. Mesmer portal tips?

I see someone in LA writing in map chat that they’re selling some items and taking orders for others. If that was against the rules, I’d expect they’d be long ago banned.

I believe the statement refers to this passage from the Rules of Conduct:

You may not buy, sell, transfer or auction (or host or facilitate the ability to allow others to buy, sell, transfer or auction) , or offer to transfer, sell or auction, or buy or accept any offer to transfer, sell or auction, any game Account or game Content, including (without limitation) game characters, character attributes, items, objects, currency, credits or copyrighted material, or any other intellectual property owned or controlled by ArenaNet, Inc., NCsoft, the Service, or our licensors, nor may you encourage or induce any other player to participate in such prohibited transaction(s), except as may be specifically authorized by the Service and by ArenaNet or NCsoft, without first obtaining our express written permission.

Yes, they mean for money outside the game. Hope this helps. =)

Yes

All the other things you listed are allowed.

There is however an advice to sell as much as possible through the tradepost. With guildmembers and people you know it is something else. But don’t spare the listing fee if it is just someone in la mapchat. There have been scammers among them (promising to sent you an item if you sent them the money first and never sending the item back) and support can’t do a lot bout them.

The reason I asked was because the other thread was about giving another player gold so they could become a commander, and the Anet poster wrote what I quoted above.

Gaile was responding to me. The discussion rolled from the original question (wich was answered by me and others that it was no problem) to wether it was against the ToS to trade materials or items for real life money.

I stated that that is not allowed as well and I believe Gaile said I that I was right. But reading it might cause some confusion. So please Gaile clear it up!! :P

Please consider context when reviewing an entire thread. But due to your confusion, I amended the comment: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/do-u-get-banned-for-sending-x-amt-of-gold/first#post2189403
