I wonder if a doctor’s certificate can win a customer support decision in this case. Who knows. It was human error, but the human error was created not by choice.

Perhaps OP you should instead be in the suggestion forum asking for a lock of some kind to prevent deleting of characters from the character menu. Might be worthwhile for people like you and people who get high recreationally would probably benefit too lol.

My homeworld is Blackgate.
I am a GW2 player in New Zealand.
Check me out on the GW2 wiki.

Perhaps a deletion password would help, a password thats separate from your login password to get on the game. This would greatly help, also a 30 minutes to 24hrs grazing period before the character gets deleted, other games already practice either one of this ideas some even goes as far as 3 days.

To delete a character a box pops up verifying which character you are about to delete and forces you to type in that character’s name before hitting the delete button. How more idiot proof do you need? You want Arenanet to waste resources on creating a better prevention of accidental deletion than that?

Well, in all fairness, sometimes people may wish to restore a character they dedeted on purpose, never mind by accident. Maybe because that had filled all their 5 character slots and wanted to try another profession but after a quick go, they realise that its not for them and want the old character back. There are several sensible reasons why you may have deleted a character and want it back.

Also, one of the games I have played, maybe Aion, if you deleteda character, you had 24 hours to change your mind. Unfortunatly, if it was your last character slot you had to wait 24 hours before the old character was removed and you could make a new one.

That would make sense under normal circumstances. But when it comes to a situation like what the OP is going through, things are different.

I accidentally spend 400 gold converting to Gems so I can buy Wintersday items. I went to get a tooth pulled from the dentist, and I was under the effects of some happy gas. Long story short, I would like to have my 400 gold back plz. I already purchased a lot of mystery boxes with the Gems, and opened them. But because I was medicated, I would like a reset. /sarcasm

Edit – As you can see, I can make up excuses for stuff, as do many other people. And there’s no way of proving either way, aside from me saying it was made up in the first place.

In GW2, Trading Post plays you!

That method is not the most effective process there is, it might prevent account deletion by accident. But the hackers can clearly use that to delete your character, so all in all a process that is ineffective.

That’s exactly what it is: an accidental deletion prevention measure. Same thing happens when you try to delete a legendary.

Account compromisation isn’t even a factor here, there are many safeguards you can take to prevent that.

Whatever you do (or Anet might put in as safeguard): nothing is 100% bullet proof.

Although I think that some explanations would make sense for getting help, Anet is a company and its employees have to work according the rules that are set up and known by the players. So no room for anything beside that.
To the OP: I suggest you try via a support ticket and ask for some goodwill in order to get account restoration. But don’t try this a second time and don’t do it in public. Goodwill by companies does come as a secret. They don’t want that to be exploited.
