I am going to assume I know the answer to this already but…
I didn’t realize that ascended items are unique and just bought a second of the same item. Is there anyway to revers this transaction or change it out for a different item?

There is a way ingame but it’s only for rings, it’s expensive and you have to use the mystic forge.

All ascended rings are unique, meaning you cannot equip two identical rings at the same time. You can, however, equip two ascended rings with the same attributes but different types of infusion slots, or the “regular” and “infused” (+5 agony resistance) versions of a ring.
Upgrade a regular ascended ring in the Mystic Forge using 1 Shard of Crystallized Mists Essence, 3 Glob of Coagulated Mists Essence, and 5 Vial of Condensed Mists Essence
No others trinkets can be done like this.
You can contact support by going to the support tab at the top of the page and then to ‘make a ticket’ and see if there is anything they can do.
The last resort is to give one to an alt, if you have one.

This seems to be a common issue and others that have posted here with this issue have reported being compensated in some manner via a Support Ticket, so give it a try.
