Has anyone else experienced the following:

1) Gold Inventory Balance of 2
2) Low on gold, so converted gems to gold, 250 for ~5
3) Gold inventory balance still 2

Since I am low on gold and wanted to craft some items, run to my bank and remember the 10g I have in my bank vault

4) Bank balance of 10, inventory balance of 2
5) Transfer 10g from my bank to my inventory

Now the problem arises, the gem currency exchange transaction appears.

6) Inventory balance of 7g, bank balance of 0

I have lost 10g. Logged in and out of the game. Logged a support Question. I have made future item purchases to see if the 10g would suddenly catch up and the transactions were delayed. Nada. Money gone, poof!

I anticipated that maybe the transactions were delayed, but did not anticipate lack of transactional integrity.

Has anyone else experienced this? Will support resolve this issue?

I have never heard bout this. recentely there was a somewhat simular ticket on this forum. If I remember right Support looked into it and it happened to be a user error. But support keeps track of almost everything you do. So feel free to file a support ticket.

I imagine you’ll hear back today. They’ll need to review logs and such, but I feel sure someone will be in touch. BTW, sometimes it takes a bit of time for the conversion to finalize, just as it sometimes does for transmittal in-game mails to drop into place. You may wish to check periodically to see if the transaction finalized and if so, you can update your ticket to indicate all is ok now.

It doesn’t look like they were able to find the transaction. This is the quote from the GM:

While I would like to replace or restore your Gold, the Guild Wars Support Team is unable fulfill your request. We were unable to verify the loss to replace it.

Please let us know if you have any other issues or concerns.


It should be a simple verify, if I withdraw 10g from the bank, there should be more than 10g in my bag inventory. This should be easily verifiable.

That will be my last Gem purchase, and potentially the last of my GW2 playing.

The way to verify this is simple. If there is user error, please call it out, but the fact is you can see I had 10g in my bank account. When I withdrew this amount, how much is in my bag inventory?

When you withdraw 10g you should be able to verify you have 10g or greater in your bag inventory. This was not the case and should be able to be verified.

This isn’t about buying a product that never arrived, it’s about transactions overlapping and a lack of transactional integrity, and is a pretty big problem that should be addressed.

My last update to support, if they will look at it, is a run down of the transactions.

I’d like to see my running bag inventory balance and where the money went.

2g in bag 2g balance
+10g from Bank 12g balance
+5 g from currency exchange 17g balance
+User error transaction 7g balance

Tell me the user error, because as I see it:
2g in bag 2g balance
+10g from Bank 12g balance

+5 g from currency exchange overwrites ignoring other transactions/bug 7g balance

I would so love to be wrong and shown the error of my ways.

Well it doesn’t look like GW2 has the ability to look at the transactions. I’ll post this information on other GW sites and warn individuals to be very careful about currency transactions. Basically, because GW2 was unable to identify the problem, it seems safe to assume there is a bug.

1) GW2 needs to avoid the currency transaction delays which would minimize the impact

or

2) Enforce some transactional consistency across sytems
