Look I need to change my display name. I sent in a few support tickets before the forums went up but the only response I got was how to change my account name and that’s not what I need to do. It is effecting the ability for me to enjoy the game. I already know what I want to change it to. So if anyone can help me that would be greatly appreciated.

I’d like to get an answer, too. If anyone knows anything, please give us an answer. I wasn’t aware my display name was going to go along with EVERYTHING that I did or said, so I’d be very grateful for a little bit of support.

Its frustrating not being able to change it on our own. Also why is something so public placed under the “personal” tab in my account options.

Same here I personally don’t want my actual name as my display name. Would love a way to change it. I thought it was going to be what your friends see that you add not everybody in the game.

Just being curious but did none of you actually read the instructions during the creation of the display name? I ask because it specifically said that the display name was to be used on the official game forums once they were operational. So unless someone chose not to read the information that was provided it should not have been a mystery.

I don’t care about it so much being on the game forums; that’s not what we’re asking about. My problem is with the name being attached to every single thing that I do in-game. Besides, that doesn’t have much to do with being unable to change it.

If your character, guild, or display name is less than what you were looking for and do not wish to restart in order to acquire a new name we are unable to offer this service at this time. We understand just how frustrating having a name other than the one you were after can be and ask that you remain patient until we are able to provide such service.

I find it absolutely ridiculous that the display name cannot be changed. Especially when there was no clear indication that it was going to be visible for everyone in game. I thought it would’ve maybe be seen on the forums tops, but in-game? No matter what character I’m on? Seriously?

It really seems like games are trying to go more towards the social media type of thing, where everyone knows everything about you all the time. What ever happened to privacy? I wrote a ticket about this issue and only got a reply that it’s not possible to change it, which I can’t understand. All it is for Anet is a push of a button.

I don’t mind if changing the display name costs money, it’s fine by me, as long as we get to change it. It’s a really weird design choice they’ve done with this.

I wish I could be known other than Social. I mean seriously who would pick that?? I really hope that hurry and fix this problem. I guess I missed the display name part or something but I would have never picked this name lol
