Error with Transmutation Crystal usage
I don’t get it. If the item has the same stats (zerk as you wanted) and the visual of the rare piece then why don’t you use it? The name won’t matter at the end as long as the stats from the zerk gear and the visual from the rare piece has been applied? So confused right now lol.
And isn’t this exactly how it works anyway?
You either apply look or stats but the name never changes as far as I know. It always stays the name of the item you used as “looks”.
Urg, I cant get the image to work.

This is my understanding, yes. In the case of my items, I would expect the end result to be named Masquerade Mantle (as I used the Rampager’s Masquerade Mantle for the looks). However, the Rampager’s prefix is tied to the stats of the original “looks” item, and since an item’s prefix is inherited by its stats, the resulting item should have the Berserker’s prefix, as the “stats” item I used was a Berserker’s, not a Rampager’s.
Hope that clears up what I meant!

I think what others are saying is: When transmuting, stats affect the rarity (color of name) and appearance (looks) affect the name of the item being transmuted. Thus, your end-result item is working as intended.

The name won’t change because of the stats.
Hmm, that seems like an incomplete implementation to me then. It makes no sense whatsoever that an item should keep a prefix (which is always determined by stats), if the end result does not contain the stats that provide said prefix.
It makes sense for the end result to take on the name (IE: masquerade mantle) of the skin used, but the prefix is a separate entity governed by stats, in the same way that a suffix is governed independently by runes. This would be as if a transmuted item kept the rune suffix of the item used for appearance, even though you selected the rune on the opposite item.
True, it just never worked that way. Never even payed attention to it till you asked this question.

I noticed this soon after I started playing the game, and yes it is annoying to run around with “X Sword of Fire” when it has stats Y instead, but that’s just how it is. Some people actually use “vanilla” skins because they don’t have a prefix at all. You can do this if the name of the item is more annoying than having the look you want, or if you find a prefix-free skin you like.
I suppose it shouldn’t work that way, and somewhere there’s a list of annoying bugs the devs would like to fix someday, but new content and game-damaging bugs take precedence so there is very little chance of ever seeing this happen.
However, as it affects customer service tickets, there is nothing they can do for you and writing a personalized note to that effect won’t change anything. They receive hundreds, perhaps thousands of new tickets every day and need to be efficient when clearing the table so that they can help those who have more serious issues, and those they actually can help.
Sending more tickets about the same issue when you know they can’t do anything about it will only slow down the process of helping those they can. And when there are a couple hundred of these pointless/duplicate tickets clogging the system every day, well that’s one of the reasons why people end up with a post in the “3 days or older” thread.
