This is not just Arenanet. They hire they’re servers at a very decent server-supplier (aka cloudservice) this supplier has been victum off a ddos attack the last few days. ironical, some other games like e.g. WoW is using the same supplier and is having simular issues. The appropiate place to discuss this is the technical support thread. check there for more info bout this.

Yes it could, and swiflty going over some of the data it confirms what I have been saying (and others with more knowledge bout this issue), but as said, the place to discuss this is the technical support forum.
(actually I’m a network engineer, but only cause of my education, I never practised it, I know it is showing it, but giving credit to the people who actually found it, and it does belong in a different spot )

So all the people having issues with connecting are using one of a few ISPs and people using other ISPs are fine… so it’s obviously Anet’s fault, not the ISP?

Well as long as your not from India and you have a checklist in front of you, and when you reach the end of the check list you say, “I am being very sorry sir, but I do not be knowing what your problem is. Have you tried wiggling the higgly switch”

Reading through this issue a few times I’ve noted that people have had this problem with ‘RIFT’ in the pass with ISPs classifying it as a P2P service thus allowing it to come under scrutiny of traffic management. The company that runs RIFT, whatever they are called, had to contact the ISPs and work with them to get it changed.
