So, in the past I have requested to get my account a couple of times, most recent being today and I got it back today! Huzzah!

That’s all fine and dandy, but past times my requests have been denied because for god knows what reason. Every time the email I get is just

“After researching the provided information, we will not be able to assist you with accessing this account.”

…. and that’s it. No explanation of what went wrong no nothing. Just somewhere something is wrong. And I have no idea what. Now I’m not sure if there is a place on the website to review the data, but is there a way to retrieve all those things? The last time I have actually played GW2 is the opening weeks of release, so I don’t even know if I had put a joke name on the account or not or if any of my data is correct for that matter. IS there a way to retrieve all of this?

The only place to retrieve information about your account is…your own records. It would be foolhardy to have that information accessible elsewhere. Anyone could access it, then, and have access to your account. I’m sure you would not want others playing your account, breaking the ToS, and getting your account permanently banned.

The security measures enforced are there for your own protection. And for the protection of the health of the overall game.

SUGGESTION: Submit a ticket via the webpage (SERVICES (above) > SUPPORT > SUBMIT A REQUEST (top right)). That page requires you to supply a good bit of information to PROVE you are the account owner. You don’t need to answer ALL the questions (but you do need to make sure you select an option in each drop down). From the info submitted, CS will be able to determine if you ARE the original account owner (rather than you play 20 questions with them via email for a week).

Note that the most important details they usually want are what WORLD you started playing on (Server name), a character name and the payment method (and CC last 4 digits) used to purchase the original game.

Just my 2 coppers.

Pretty accurate, but I would not say that the starting world is one of the most important details. There are others that we’d like more: serial code, birth date, etc. Because those are details that only the account holder should know.

Still and all, your suggestions about account verification are sound.
