I just bought a copy of guild wars 2 at bestbuy.
I noticed the free upgrade to the Deluxe edition.
Do i not get this? I just bought the game, and paid full price.

If not it’s okay, but i was just wondering

OK so that’s what happened! I think it may have to do with the language redirection between GW websites: I got sent back and forth between a French and English website.

And the support didn’t help: Someone from account support just replied by email saying she cant do anything – “sorry”. Why hire employees if they cannot do anything to help? A “sorry” will not resolve the situation.

You don’t need to create a support account. Just email support using the link at the top of the forums. (Use the option of “Ask a Question.”) That will create a ticket and you can send Gaile the ticket number, so she can read the details.

Hmm, i also encountered the same issue, i read about the promo on the home page but only bought the game hours later from the shop directly not realizing that the offer and the shop is totally different, or purchase from the shop auto upgrades the edition as per the offer.

My friend has been persuading me to join him in GW2, and i finally tipped when i saw the offer. only to realize that the norm does not apply in the shop where offers are auto upgraded.

Sent in an email to support, hopefully that they can work this out

If you are having the issue, you need to contact support individually. Any resolution is going to depend on the circumstances specific to your account.

If the situation was simply that you purchased before the promotional period, we cannot address that, because the period of the promotion is firmly set, and we cannot do “work-arounds” to expand the promotional period.

Normally if you buy a product (for example a television or a computer) and the price drops dramatically the following week the store will subtract the amount more you have paid (there is usually a 1 month period). Now this may be different, internet market is not really regulated, but we’re talking about something that I noticed minutes after my download started (when do we consider the product has been opened on a digital purchase?). I believe I may took notice of it before buying, I’m just not sure because I bought it impulsively.

That mentioned, can we at least confirm that I bought it before the special was announced? At what date/time precisely was the deal announced on the website? I made the purchase on December 7th at 16:24, eastern time.

This is correct. The upgrade is part of a direct purchase through our site; we do not offer a free upgrade for retail purchases.

Ah, i see. Well thanks for the reply. They should really be more specific. “For a limited time, buy Guild Wars 2 and get a free upgrade to the Digital Deluxe Edition” is a broad statement.

A friend of mine made an account and played during the Lost Shores event and now wants to upgrade his account to a full account. I just bought a retail code and couldn’t find an “upgrade” option or anything of the sort. So we registered a new account with all the same credentials and applied the serial code. Attempting to log in gives the “grace period has ended” notice, and his email address never received a confirmation email. Any help here?

As far as I know you had to enter the new full code on the account page. At least that is what I read about the upgrade on free trial.

If you are unsecure about it, look into the support section, there might be answers to it already. If that is not sufficient, open a ticket there.

I have read through the forums and while there are many posts and the FAQ none answer the simple question: “If I bought a hard boxed copy at a store, IE I got this for Christmas, am I entitled to the FREE digital upgrade, yes or no?”

Now many others have provided opinions and a community manager posted how to purchase a Digital Deluxe upgrade in game, however there is still no answer to whether or not hard copies bought in stores are given this consideration.
